Well plotted with lots of twists and turns along with red herrings continue to make Elizabeth Peters mysteries enjoyable.
Jacqueline Kirby is hilarious, opinionated, intelligent, and an entertaining sleuth. This particular book has been waiting for me quite a while and oh-how-I-wish I'd read it sooner. I switched back and forth between the audiobook (what a perfect narrator!) and the ebook depending on my locale. This murder is twisty and complicated and felt a little gothic--so enjoyable. This tale also had a touch, a light touch, of romance. Each Kirby setting is very unique and this time we are in a backwater town in the home of a famously murdered writer.
I haven't read Die for Love (Kirby #3), and my public library has the audio and ebook, I think I'll repeat this performance. Once I read Elizabeth Peters, I am pulled into her world for several books. If you want an intelligent feeling cozy coupled with some silliness/humor--this is it.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy.
