I'm somewhat a new fan of Daniel Hurst. Every book I read, I keep saying oh my god this is my favorite book, but nobody read another book and that's my favorite.. He is such a great writer it makes you feel like you know these people. And then you think you know what's going to happen but nope it serves you for a loop and it's like oh my God I didn't think that was going to happen kind of book.. I kind of want to read it back over because I'm addicted to this book. But nope I think I'm reading another book of his cuz I just can't stop reading if you think you know what's going to happen you think you can predict it but you can't.. I read this book in about 2 days.. it's the kind of book that you cannot put down..

I am having a very hard time getting into this book. It seems clunky and a bit pedestrian. I’m not in love with the characters and I have not read the others in this series, although, I heard they were very good. I also have seen that perhaps the author should lay this series to rest.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book did a great job of wrapping up this series. It felt like all the plot points were nicely closed up and was a good conclusion. I did feel like the beginning of the book was a little slow, but that background information about what the characters have been up to since the last book was needed to help establish the relationships between the mothers and their daughters and really helped to set up the action of this book. Once the girls met, this story picked up speed and flew by! I was on the edge and could not wait to find out how everything would play out in the end.

The Doctor's Child By: Daniel Hurst and narrated by: Sarah Durham and Polly Edsell is the forth book in the excellent The Doctor's Wife series and what an excellent gripping psychological series this has been and one of the best out there to get your teeth into.

Now, the doctor is dead. Now his daughter wants revenge….........Please tell me more!

WoW! What an excellent end.....Superb Daniel You have done it again!

This was a audiobook that kept me listening none stop throughout the day and the narrators were excellent. Sarah Durham and Polly Edsell bought this book alive.

I have loved this series. It has been such a fun ride!
I highly recommend you read the previous books in the series prior to this one. Hurst does a fantastic job of reminding the readers who is who and what has happened so far, but I appreciated the recap as a following reader and think readers will enjoy it far more if they read them all in order. The twists are amazing!
When I started this book, I am so familiar with this series, that I was literally hearing the usual narrator of Fern's POV from the audiobooks, Sarah Durham, read the book to me.
After a few chapters, I was fully up to date with the events and was ready for the rollercoaster! And wow, did I get taken on a wild ride.
This book was just as fast paced, and easy to read in one sitting as the previous books. You never quite know where the plot will take you, but that's all part of the enjoyment.
I think this may be the last in The Doctor's Wife series, but I'm sure Daniel Hurst will wow me for the next series he undertakes.
I highly recommend this series.

The Doctor’s Child
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💥💥
Author: Daniel Hurst

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Bookouture and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: The doctor is dead. Now his daughter wants revenge…

‘I’ll always protect you.’ These are the words my mother whispered to me every time she kissed me goodnight. And whenever we ventured outside our windswept seaside village, she’d clutch my hand tightly and her face would be pinched and pale. I never understood why. But now I do. Growing up, I’d heard the whispers and the rumours. My mother tried to keep the truth from me, but she failed. I understand exactly what happened eighteen years ago. I know I am the murdered doctor’s child.

Everything could have been so different if the doctor’s wife hadn’t ruined my mother’s life – and mine too. We could’ve been a proper family, living in a big house with a stunning sea view. Instead, I never got to know my dad and my mother is a shadow of the person she once was, always looking over her shoulder… Glancing at my fair hair and bright blue eyes in the mirror, I realise I’m just like my father. And it’s up to me to right the wrongs of the past.

They say the doctor’s wife is clever and calculating. That she gets away with murder. But she hasn’t met me yet…

My Thoughts: This is the fourth book in The Doctor’s Wife series. It ended with a B A N G! I have loved this series from the beginning and it has been one of my favorite psychological thriller series I have read to date. We have heard from the wife, the mistress, a mixology, and now we get to hear from the children, the daughters of the wife and mistress. Both daughters were raised by single mothers, mostly, Cecilia adores her mother and step-father, Pierre, and is off to Paris for a gap year before Uni. Evelyn, on the other hand, despises her mother for a mistake when Evelyn was a baby and cannot wait to get out at 18 on a backpacking trip through Spain/Paris. When the daughters cross paths unexpectedly, that is when true fireworks happen, keeping you on the edge of your seat. Will Evelyn see red?

While this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, however, to get the maximum character enrichment, it is better to read them in order. The story is narrated by Fern aka Theresa, Alice, Evelyn, Cecilia, and a brief narration from Pierre, Theresa’s current husband. The narration is told mostly in present tense, but there are some flashbacks to the past. Even though we have a lot of characters’ viewpoints, it was really laid out well and was easy to follow along. The characters were well developed, fleshed out, had depth, were mysterious, secretive, masters at betrayal, and creatively woven throughout the story. The supporting characters elevated the book, here the mothers take that role and endure it well. The author’s writing style was complex, twisty, suspenseful, engaging, and brilliant. The characters are reestablished through their backstory, the plot is delivered in twisty layers, like an onion peeling back the layers, and the ending is not only explosive, but unpredictable and satisfying.

This was explosive, captivating, compelling, gripping, dark, and the perfect ending to this series. Hurst delivers on every aspect of a psychological thriller. Hurst is brilliant in his storytelling ability and is the master at twists, bringing them with such force, you are surely to get whiplash. Hurst is on his way to join the ranks of Sager, Ware, and Foley. If you love Freida McFadden or Shari Lapena, you will love Hurst. He is a newish author for me but I have followed this series religiously and picked up some of his other standalone books that were equally explosive. Available on KU. I highly recommend this book and every book of this series.

Yes! I have loved every book in this series and this addition is no exception. This book forces me to ask the question, is it wrong to root for a serial killer? If the answer is yes, then I don't want to be right. I love Fern and this latest installment made me love her even more. I know she killed several people but nobody’s perfect. She exemplifies everything a female protagonist should be in a thriller. She is powerful, cunning, compassionate when it counts, and most of all a survivor. The Doctor's Child is full of twists and turns I never saw coming with a conclusion that was both surprising and satisfying. Danie Hurst is definitely an auto-read author. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Doctor's Child is the fourth book in The Doctor's Wife series. This has been a fantastic series. In my opinion, this is not a stand-alone read. It is best to start at the beginning. There is a lot of retelling of history, but it is not the same as reading it as it happened.

In this book Alice's daughter and Fern's daughter have come of age. One knows the truth and wants revenge.

It is a good series, but this one felt rushed to wrap it up. I preferred the others more than this one.

I loved the entire Doctor’s series and was patiently waiting for the Doctor’s child to be released. I am sad that it is over now. Time for another suspense thriller series, Daniel Hurst!

Hurst is killing it in psychological thrillers. I’ve loved this series, The Doctor’s Wife. Each time I read another book in this series, I’m blown away by how great it is! This series has documented perspectives of different characters in each book. This one picked up with the grown children who didn’t exist in book 1 as they’re leaving home, out of the secluded areas they’ve been raised. I enjoyed this era of the story!

I recommend this page-turning psychological thriller & the entire #TheDoctorsWifeseries!

Thank you, Daniel Hurst, Bookouture, & netgalley for my copy! All opinions are my own.

The series provided a heartwarming glimpse into the lives of Alice and Fern in post-hilltop scenes. Watching Cecilia and Evelyn grow and share their unique perspectives added depth to the story. The various viewpoints truly breathed life into the characters, with Fern's journey being particularly relatable. The interactions between the characters were captivating and skillfully depicted throughout the book. Despite the unexpected ending, it added a layer of enjoyment to the series. Overall, this series is a captivating journey worth immersing oneself in. #BookReview #CharacterGrowth #EmotionalNarrative #SeriesConclusion #SurprisingTwists #EngagingPlot #FamilyDynamics #LiteraryJourney #UnexpectedTwists #BookwormsJoy

I really struggled to get into this book. It was slow and very predictable. Almost a DNF but powered through it.
