I just want to start out by saying thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture, as I received this an an ARC for an honest review!

This whole series was something I really loved, but this book was my favorite out of the four. It had so much suspense and action that I binged this in one sitting. I could not put it down. My jaw dropped at so many points during this book. The characters were so good, although, let’s be honest, Fern is not likable, clearly. Not that she was a bad character, she was just not a likable person, which makes sense considering the facts. The characters all went well with each other, creating a ton of suspense and drama throughout the entire book. I never knew what was going to happen, so I was constantly shocked when things went on. The way that Daniel Hurst can put so much action into a less than 300 page book is insane. I loved the fast pace, and it was truly unputdownable.

5 stars!

Wow, what a great ending to an amazing series. I think The Doctor Wife series is one of my all time favorites. The beginning of the book was summarizing what happened in the previous books, so I think this book could be read as a standalone but I would recommend starting with the first book. I liked how we got the story through different point of views which allows us to really get to know the characters. The ending was great and everything has been tied up nicely. I am !ad that the series is over because I loved reading about Fern and what she is up to next but I am excited to see what Daniel Hurst writes next. I highly recommend this book and the earlier in the series!

In The Doctor's Child, we meet Evelyn who is the child of Drew Devlin and Alice. Evelyn harbors resentment and cannot wait to get away from her mom and their hometown. She is going backpacking in Europe. In France, Cecilia is the daughter of the famous Fern Devlin but Cecilia has no idea who her mother really is. She ends up moving to Paris for a job with her childhood friend. From there the story really picks up! I don't want to give anything else away but buckle up, its a wild ride!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Doctor’s Child is #4 in The Doctor’s Wife series and each one just gets better and better. The kids are grown up in this one and wow, the twists are just all over the place and I loved every minute of it! This is book #30 - yes, I’m a huge fan of Daniel and I must read them all! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published May 1, 2024.

WOW what a finale to The Doctor's Wife book 4 - The Doctor's Child a psychological thriller by Daniel Hurst.

The sins of the Mother will be revealed in this pulsating finale of the Doctor's Wife series and I was not disappointed.

I feel for Fern as she is both victim and survivor in this sorry tale as she is brandished The Black Widow as she tries to get revenge for Drew's infidelity with Alice.

My heart went out for Detective Tomlin who was tricked by Fern in the investigation of Dr. Devlin and he was made out to not being a good man by the media and his work associates.

Fern is now almost sixty has been looking over her shoulder for the past eighteen years. Fern has made a new life in France marrying Pierre a French doctor who raises Fern's daughter Cecilia who unbeknown to Pierre and Cecilia is Greg's child and Pierre has raised her as if Cecilia was his own daughter since the age of five years old.

Alice is living in Arberness in Scotland and has raised her daaughter, Evelyn, who has reached eighteen single-handedly who now wants to spread her wings and go backbacking and France is on the agenda.

Cecilia, Fern's daughter also wants to spread her wings and leave for the bright lights of London.

The proverb "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." is definitely not the case for Fern as her misdeamenours catch up to bite her and the consequences of her actions entail the death of someone she holds dear to her.

Daniel Hurst needed to write this book. It finishes the story off completely.

Alice and Fern both have a teenager daughter. One has grown up in France the other in Scotland. Both had such different childhoods. As Cecilia and Evelyn embark on the new chapters of their lives it seems inconceivable that their paths will cross. What will it mean for the mothers.

To fully enjoy this book you must read the other three books in the Doctor's Wife Series. You will not be disappointed.

What a great final book to a great series! This was the fourth (and final, I believe) book in the Doctor's series, and I was hooked by every single one of them. I would definitely recommend reading the other three books first, because it's important to fully understand what is going on. I'm fairly new to this author, but he quickly won me over! I will continue to read everything he writes, and highly recommend to other readers!

Such a perfect ending to the series! It literally gave me everything o didn't even know I needed. As always, I flew through it and couldn't put it down. The same well flowing narrative, good twists and well plotted out character development. If you've read the rest of the series then you have to finish it off with this!

The Doctor's Child by Daniel Hurst is the fourth, and possibly final, book in the brilliant The Doctor's Wife series. While it could easily be enjoyed as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the first three books to fully put yourself in the picture of what has led some very divisive characters to this point in their collective story.

Yet another binge read from the prolific and clever author, this fourth installment brings the series to a natural and satisfactory conclusion though, in his capable hands, the door always remains open for a continuation of the compelling narrative, and I will most certainly be the first in line to snatch it up.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

I dint realise when I downloaded this, that it was part of a series. So, me being me, I ended up going back and reading the first three before this one and I'm glad I did. I much prefer Daniel Hurst series of books than his standalone. The 20 minute series was incredible and this series was brilliant too. I love the way his characters develop over time and you never really expect what happens next...love Fern....just saying 🙂

This was the 4th book in The Doctor’s Wife series. After the 3rd book my review said I felt the story had come to its natural conclusion and didn’t need to continue. I’m glad the author wrote this book though because I do feel like it was very well done and a great conclusion to the series. At this point I don’t feel like there is anywhere left to go with the story and it’s a satisfying ending. Daniel Hurst does a great job telling the story through the POV of multiple characters, including the children from the other books who are now adults. I really enjoyed this book.

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Bookouture for the advance reader copy. This is my honest review. Publication date May 1, 2024

** spoiler alert ** The Doctor's Child is fourth in a series of The Doctor. We had the Doctor's Wife, The Doctor's Widow, the Doctor's Mistress and now the child. In my opinion, this was the best out of the four. Thus the 5 star rating. This is a fast paced riveting book that will leave you glued to your seat. I read this in 2 sittings, as I was very busy and was only able to read at night.

Fern is at it again. As is Alice. Alice's baby has grown up and is now 18/ Evelyn, the daughter, harbors a lot of resentment toward her mother for letting Fern, the woman who killed her father, get away in the last book. So much resentment that she barely speaks to her mother and decides to take off on a back packing trip across Europe. At the same time, Fern's child is now 18 and leaves for Paris to start a job. The rest is so crazy it's great!! For some reason, I've been rooting for Fern throughout this series. There's just something about her, even though she did some awful things.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC I greatly appreciate it. I highly recommend this book. You MUST find out what happens to Fern!!

The fourth and final book in this roller coaster of a series!

Alice and Fern have major history, daughters Evelyn and Cecilia are about to make some history of their own.

Though this could be a stand alone, to get the full intensity and understand the backstory, it should be read in the order of the series.

This one is a real page turner and easy to binge in no time!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this book.

I wasn’t a fan of the way this was written, I felt like it had a slow start and a slow pace in general, as well as the writing itself being somewhat juvenile.

Did not really feel like any of the characters had much depth. Being written from 5 different perspectives as well as jumping back and forth through time was a little much and overall the story felt quite predictable.

This is by far one of the most entertaining, jaw dropping series I have ever had the pleasure to read. Both Fern and Alice have done all they can to stay away from each other and protect their children from the fall out of the Doctor’s murder but they are now of age and branching out into the world and what a small world it is. Brilliant! I thank Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book.

while this wasn’t my favorite book in the series, it was a great way to send off the murderers that i’ve grown a soft spot for! like the other books in this series, this one was so ridiculous yet so fun. i swore the last book was the end of the series, so i was a little nervous to see how this one fit in with the series. i did feel that this one was a little slower and anticlimactic compared to the rest, but this series will continue to be one of my most recommended on Kindle Unlimited!

Book Title: The Doctor’s Child
Author: Daniel Hurst
Series: The Doctor’s Wife Book #4
Publisher: Bookouture
Genre: Domestic Thriller
Pub Date: May 1, 2023
My Rating: 4.7 rounded up
Pages: 224

This is Book #4 in the Doctor’s Wife series. I have read all the stories in this series. As in most series it really isn’t necessary to read the others first as there are references as to what happened earlier However. I believe any reader would find it very interesting to read at least the first in this series "The Doctor’s Wife'. The other two are " The Doctor’s Widow" and "The Doctor’s Mistress". The stories are all fast reads.

This story is told from the POV of
Fern - The Doctor’s Wife told in the past and present),
Alice – The Doctor’s Mistress told in the past and present),
Evelyn - The Doctor and Alice's daughter) and
Cecelia - Fern and Greg's daughter (BTW: Fern killed Greg before he knew he was going to be a dad.).

Story picks up seventeen years after the last story. Both Fern and Alice have daughters that are close in age. Evelyn is the older of the two and is now eighteen , She continuers to be bitter about all the teasing she endured about not having a Father. She wants to get even with Fern for what she did. Evelyn is also bitter about her mother Alice for getting into this situation..
(Now you know what I meant about the necessity of reading the earlier books in this series.)

Fern and her daughter Cecelia are living happy in France. Fern has been married to Pierre for ten years and he is good to both Fern and Cecelia. BTW: He is a Doctor)
Fern has changed her name to Theresa and is doing her best to keep her past a secret. However her secret aka lies as well as her past keeps creeping in!
At one point Fern states ~I just have to remember the extra lie I just told;- true I already have enough of those to remember.

Cecelia and her best friend Antoinette have decided to venture away from their little village and seeks job in Paris.
Evelyn has left Arberness and moved to London but is not happy in England and decides to move to (where else?) Yes Paris.

Needless to say, things get interesting and once again Daniel Hurst does not disappoint!
This is my Sixteenth Daniel Hurst thriller Yep I am a fan!

Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this early e-Galley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for May 1, 2024

The Doctors child By Daniel Hurst

Well apparently I am out of the loop, I had no idea this book was part of a series and I should know because anything Daniel Hurst is an instant pick up for me!

His writing style is … chefs kiss awesome! I enjoyed this story in its entirety! I feel like this could be great as a stand-alone if you have not read any of the previous books!

Wonderful story and I was enthralled from the very first page!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book!
