I have really enjoyed this series, and I'm not sure if this fourth installment will be the last, but I would be thrilled for it to continue. You must read this series in order, not as standalones. This book takes place several years after the dramatic cliffhanger of book three.
We are very well schooled in the tumultuous relationship between Alice and Fern, the doctor's mistress and the doctor's wife. Fern has married Pierre and has been living far away from the scene of her crimes, and Pierre is blissfully ignorant of her past. Fern and Alice both have daughters, Evelyn and Cecelia, who are now almost young adults.
When a chance meeting in Paris disrupts the lives of both women, will they continue on the path to forgiveness, or will their daughters, both cheated out of a father, find out the truth about their father's past? This book was absolutely wild in the best of ways, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting the perspective of the daughters the doctor left behind. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the early copy. This title will publish May 1, 2024.
Book three did not disappoint in this series and the ending was really fitting after everything that happened in the last two books. As the daughters of the two women involved in the horrible murders start to live their own lives without their Mother's a chance encounter changes everything. Loved it!!!
Great conclusion (I think it's the end) of the series! I enjoyed the different character perspectives, and also the snippets of the past 18 years of Fern and Alice's journeys. The ending was a good wrap up, though in terms of twisty thrills, I guess a little underwhelming. Still, a series I enjoyed to the core and would recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
This is the fourth instalment of the Doctors Wife series. Set 18 years later as the girls come of age. I don't think I can say too much about it without giving away too much of the story. Fern is still on the run with her daughter and Alice is still in Arberness with her daughter. Both daughters decided to travel from their relative homes to experience the wider world. We follow their journeys and experience the turmoil of the parents. I was surprised to find I had sympathy for Fern after all she did in the previous books. The story is well written and the characters take on their own personalities. Lots of twists and turns and unexpected happenings before we reach the climax to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would recommend it to anyone. With thanks to the author, Bookouture and netgalley for this advanced copy to give my honest review.
Great ending to The Doctor’s Wife series.
Set around 18 years after the last book, but the story follows Fern and her daughter Celia, and Alice and her daughter Evelyn. As with all Daniel Hurst’s books, there’s always some twists along the way..
So glad I had the opportunity to read and give my opinion on this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. As the fourth book in this series, it is just as good as the first three. Daniel Hurst never ceases to amaze me. There is always surprises in the middle and a twist or two at the end. I'll never stop buying his books.
My Review:
Wow!!!!! Hooked from the very first chapter. Really hit this one out of the ballpark. It was another great read by one of my favorite authors. I have to admit that I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into with this one. This was the fourth book in this series and I was like how was the author going top the other books in this series. Have no fear he did it. I loved this just as much or maybe even more than I did the first ones. For one, this book was set many years later so we get an update on all the characters since we last seen them. Oh and let me tell you some of the updates were shocking and left me speechless. There really was a lot to unpack in all those missing years. The characters made this book for me. They each had something about them that made this book fun and fantastic to read. Also, that ending was so wow. It definitely wrapped up this whole series perfectly. Really nice and neat with a bow on top. I would imagine this would be the last book as I don’t know where you would go from here after all that but with this author I’ve learned to expect the unexpected. All in all, I really enjoyed this one along with every other book I’ve read by him which if you don’t know he’s written many. In fact, Im going to start his next one very soon that just came out a few days ago. Im sure it will be great. You will never be disappointed if you read a Daniel Hurst book.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This book was definitely a winner for me, thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to all. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for providing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I’ve really enjoyed reading all the earlier books and this one was fantastic! I love a good psychological thriller and this one went above my expectations. The twists and turns, the suspense, the shock factors! It was all enough to keep me reading, especially as I got closer to the end. Wow that ending!!!!!
A satisfying ending to The Doctor's Wife Series.
I have followed this Series from the beginning and it has been one of my favourite psychological thriller series.
I'm happy to read about the characters again. (Daniel made them all feel real) and like the other books there was plenty of twists and turns and it had the proper ending. I loved this series and I suggest you read this series too if you love psychological thrillers..
This could be a stand alone but if you really want to know the whole story I suggest reading the 3 other books in this series.
Thank you netgalley and bookouture for allowing me to read this arc.
Every time I read a book by Daniel Hurst I still manage to finish it feeling shocked by the twists and turns and that was definitely the case in this book.
Another great book from this author to complete the 'Doctor' Series, extremely well written as usual and was good to read about the characters again.
I was involved in the storyline from the beginning until the end and found it hard to put my Kindle down and everything was brought to a brilliant conclusion and I have no hesitation in recommending this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC and well done Daniel, just keep on writing your books are great.
I could not wait to read this book and boy, was it worth it! I loved how the author tied everything all up from the previous books and absolutely loved how it ended. Thrilling yet emotional. Highly recommend any books by this author.
I love Daniel Hurst. His books always keep me interested and I finished in one sitting. This is the last in the series. There were 4 books. If you have not read anything by him start now. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Gripping page turner a binge read. Although the ending of a series it is crafted in such a way that you could read this as a stand alone (although I'd recommend the whoike series) i loved the way the charactets have evilved and matured . As usual Daniel hurst made me feel the characters and thought the story eould go one way. This is ultimately a story of redemption and maturity. He even made me feel sorry for Fern. Im sad that it's over as its a cracking easy 5 star read. I could see the possibility of more spin offs . I gave grown to love the characters . Thank you netgallery and publisher and author. I can't recommend this enough
This was the fourth book in the series I have enjoyed the last three so could not wait to read this and wow it did not disappoint amazing work by this author once again. It drew me in quickly it picks up 18 years after we last met Alice and Fern now they have 18 year old daughters. I loved the different perspectives it definitely helps build up the suspense. I highly recommend this I would say maybe best to read the first 3 books first so you have an idea of who’s who and previous history. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy of this excellent book.
This is the fourth in the continuing “soap opera” series introduced by The Doctor’s Wife; I have read all four.
There is a lot of history between Fern and Alice who lived in a small English village. Alice had an affair with Fern’s husband, the doctor. Fern arranged for Alice’s husband, Rory, to kill the doctor and set Alice up to be blamed and imprisoned for it. Fern killed Rory, escaped to build a new life, met a new man, Greg. When she found out that Greg was the doctor’s best friend out to catch Fern, she killed him as well. BUT, Alice was carrying the doctor’s child and Fern was impregnated by Greg. Skip ahead almost two decades and Alice’s daughter, Evelyn, wants revenge. Fern is now living happily in France with a new husband and her daughter, Cecilia. When paths cross, revenge and retribution are on the menu. Got it? Whew!
As with the prior three stories, this was an engrossing, fast read that I couldn’t put down. I liked the continued author’s style of alternating chapter POVs from the various main characters, learning their inner thoughts. You may dislike some (or all!) of the characters and think some things a bit over the top, but you will enjoy this psychological thriller. It is an entertaining, escapist read.
While this could work as a stand alone, for those interested, it might be better to go back and read the prior three novels for the history. They are quick, “popcorn thrillers”. If you read this (perhaps) final in the series, what did you think of the ending?
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy of The Doctor’s Child!
I adore Daniel Hurst, and regularly devour his books. I was SO excited for the conclusion of the Doctor’s Wife series, and this did not disappoint. We jumped in where we left off following the perspective of both Fern and Alice, but 18 years after the last book! It was interesting to also get narration from the two daughters, Cecilia and Evelyn.
I enjoyed the development and slow burn of this story line, and found the ending to be cathartic and just.
If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend it. Daniel Hurst’s writing style is similar to Frieda McFadden and his books are always quick and enjoyable reads.
This is one of my favorite authors ! He’s absolutely incredible. This book was written so well. Fast paced and very suspenseful. Definitely recommend
I loved the Doctor’s Wife, Widow and Mistress so I was super excited to see a fourth book The Doctor’s Child and it did not disappoint! I really enjoyed this series-great twists and plot in each book. . Love the characters and how they have changed and grown from the earlier books. I never expected the ending in this one! Definitely a must read-but I strongly suggest starting with the first book and read the entire series-you’ll enjoy it so much more! Thank you to NetGalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. Love books by this author! t⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is Book #4 in The Doctors Wife series and I have loved this series.
In previous books we know all about Alice and Fern. Not sure if this is the last in the series, but Fern and Alice’s daughters Evelyn and Cecelia are now introduced after a chance meeting in Paris! They are now friends! What could go wrong?
Fern is now married to Pierre and he has raised her daughter, but he does not know about her past.
More death, mayhem and twists! Will Feen finally get caught? I highly recommend this series.
