First of all I want to say how I love this cover. The colors are fantastic and the little shoes are so cute and adorable.

It's hard to express how amazing this series is. Every book has the best twists ever and they are impossible to put away. I just have to finish them in one go. When I start one of this author's book, I make sure I have enough time so I can sit back and immerse myself completely in the world created by this incredible story teller.

I am not going to give away a lot about this book. The one thing I want to stress though is that this is an absolute must read and so is the rest of this series. You won't regret it because they are truly so, so good.

I am always happy when I have read one of this author's books because of the joy they bring, but I am also sad because I turned the last page. There is always that prospect of a new one coming which makes me happy again  :)

I hope I can make the author happy by giving a 5 star rating. ;)

Thank you

Book four of a fabulous series. It was great to catch up with all the characters and i really think you need to have read the books leading up to this. Lots of twists/surprises that i really didn't expect and a great ending tying everything up.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

This is one of my auto-read authors and this latest installment does not miss.

I have read every single installment of this series and have loved all of them.

This author really says, let me give you a whole book dedicated to each person's POV. I wonder how many more books are in this series, but as usual this book is such a wild ride and I loved every moment of it. This series is definitely popcorn thriller vibes and is perfect for fans of Freida McFadden!

I loved how this series came together and loved knowing how Fern and all the other characters we have been following for the past 3 books are doing. While this could be read as a standalone I suppose, I definitely recommend reading the other three prior books for MAXIMUM enjoyment!

Thank you to netgalley and this author for the arc in exchange for a fair and honest review!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this book, with my honest review below.

The Doctor’s Child was the perfect ending to The Doctor’s Wife series by Daniel Hurst. Although written as a series it could be read as a standalone, though the series is great and I would recommend the read.

Fern, the Doctor’s Wife, has retired to a quiet French village after all the killing in her past. With her daughter turning 18 she’s afraid that she will try to seek out her father in England - and stumble upon the Doctor’s Mistress, Alice, and her child from the affair, Evelyn. With several years of resentment Evelyn is certainly dangerous to Fern and her daughter, Cecilia. I loved reading about how it all came to a head as Fern may be a killer but she’s also great fun as a character.

This was the perfect ending to the series as I confess I don’t think it’s feasible to write another and would kill the series if it was attempted. Great closure overall. I’d recommend this as part of the series so you can enjoy the full ride!

A huge THANK YOU to Daniel Hurst, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

Daniel Hurst is back at it and let me tell you, he doesn't disappoint.

Wow! I am blown away at the 4th book in this nail-biting, edge of your seat, gasping out loud journey! It deserves 10 stars! This is not a stand alone book, so please make sure you've read The Doctor's Wife, The Doctor's Widow, and The Doctor's Mistress first.

The Doctor's Child picks up several years after The Doctor's Mistress. It's told from the point of view of Fern (past and present), Alice (past and present), Evelyn (Alice's daughter) and Cecelia (Fern's daughter). The complexity of the characters and web of lies, betrayal, and murder between this group is insane. Not once was there a lull in the story. It's fast-paced, full speed ahead, and the details are SHOCKING! I had numerous jaw drops and gasps. You think you know about Alice and Fern's past, but you have no idea what these women have been through since we last left them and what they are capable of. I can't say much more, because I don't want to give anything away, but I'll leave you with some of my favorite lines from the book.

"I'll never be in the same place as her. Maybe that's for the best. Or I might end up a murderer like her. "

"Unfortunately, there is not a lot of time to process things when a dead body is involved. You have no choice but to move quickly, at least you do if you want to stay out of prison."

"I could have chosen not to be a killer. I could have been so much more. Or am I just lying to myself?"

"The past can't be hidden forever. The truth always comes out and, when it does, good luck."

Prepare for a wild journey- you'll have to read to find out who says these infamous lines! Do not walk, but run, to get your hands on this book available May 1, 2024.

"The Doctor's Child" by Daniel Hurst is a riveting psychological thriller that delves into themes of revenge, betrayal, and family secrets. From the haunting opening lines to the breathtaking conclusion, it keeps you on the edge of your seat with a narrative that is both gripping and suspenseful.

The protagonist's quest for justice following the murder of her father propels the story forward, as she uncovers shocking truths about her family's past. This is expertly crafted as a tense atmosphere filled with whispers and rumors, drawing readers deeper into the protagonist's world of deception and manipulation.

The character development is superb, with each member of the ensemble cast contributing to the story's intricate web of intrigue. From the protagonist's enigmatic mother to the cunning doctor's wife, every character is richly drawn and compelling.

What sets "The Doctor's Child" apart is its ability to keep readers guessing until the very end. With unexpected twists and turns, Hurst keeps the suspense mounting, leaving readers breathless with anticipation.

Overall, "The Doctor's Child" is a masterfully crafted thriller that will leave readers hooked from beginning to end. Fans of novels like "Behind Closed Doors" and "Gone Girl" will find much to love in this gripping tale of revenge and redemption.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookoutre for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Doctor’s Child by Daniel Hurst due to be published May 1, 2024.
I have read all three of the first books in this series – couldn’t wait to read this one.
The Doctor’s Child is the story of two eighteen-year-old girls who are joined for life. Alice, the doctor’s mistress, had a daughter, Evelyn. Fern, the same doctor’s wife, also had a daughter, Cecelia. (These are also two fantastic books – The Doctor’s Wife and The Doctor’s Mistress)!
The story alternates between Alice/Evelyn and Fern/Cecelia. While Cecelia is happily celebrating her birthday and her life, Evelyn is secretly plotting revenge on the woman who took away her father – Fern. Will she succeed in finally doing what the police could never do – find Fern and bring her to justice?
The Doctor’s Child had me hooked from the first page. It was fast-paced and suspenseful and had me captivated the entire time until the end.
I will absolutely read ANYTHING Daniel Hurst writes – he is one of my favorite authors, and I hope there is another sequel!

This highly anticipated conclusion to the Doctor series is definitely one that you will not want to miss! I say "conclusion" now due to the ending of this book, but I guess I shouldn't underestimate Hurst. I wouldn't put it past him to come up with even more craziness to keep this series alive. We've had our previous stories with Fern, and then Alice, and now we get to go head-to-head with their daughters. This book was fun and a fast read, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed with the ending. I was hoping for more of a surprise, or a final eff you. Having said that, I understand why it ended the way that it did. Definitely still a great book and I highly recommend! Start with book one and buckle up for a crazy ride!

Thank you to the author, Bookouture, and NetGalley for granting me digital access in exchange for my honest review!

This is another grear read, Daniel has written a lot of books, and they have all been brilliant. This is book 4 in a series and I do feel you need to have read the other 3 first. It weaves secrets and lies in a clever and twisted way. Really enjoyed it.

This talented author, a favorite, has written another page turner. Realistic characters keep the story moving quickly. Red herrings and secrets kept me guessing. This is a cannot put down novel. Read it in one setting…do not try to guess the ending too early. Not possible…thanks Netgalley.
