This started out promising, felt kinda like Ward D by Freida McFadden which I loved. But then things got weird and not interesting. It had a heavy focus on religion, god, satan, good and evil etc which I didn’t really like.

The plot felt like it was going around in circles at times. And then the big reveal made no sense. I love dark and twisty thrillers but I need the twist to be believable. I want to have been able to figure it out if I could. But this twist was completely unbelievable and impossible. Did not make sense with what we had previously read.

Also when the twist did happen it just bloody ended. I was waiting for more and thought I missed something?? So far that reason I’m unfortunately giving it a 2⭐️ Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this arc.

This book had me hooked from the beginning but left me completely confused. I love twists in the plot but I feel like this one didn’t make a full wrap up. I feel like it’s supposed to have like a second book to follow but that’s not what the ending would lead you to believe. I absolutely love this book until the ending because now I’m just really confused!

The main thing I didn’t like about this book was the ending. I feel like I was left with so much confusion and that I wish It would wrap back in Trent to maybe explain more about how that even happened that way because honestly WTF!

I highly recommend reading the therapist the first 75% is a highly suspenseful psychological thriller and the development for Trent was fanatic but the last 25% completely fell short.

from start to finish, I was hooked! if you were a fan of the silent patient or any frieda mcfadden books, then this is a must read for you! throughout the entire store, you’re trapped into trying to solve the mystery of the murder too. But that plot twist at the end will really make you rethink everything you read. I also absolutely love how short the chapters are but yet are packed with so much information and keep your attention.

told from the pov of the main character, dr. fletcher, you go through the journey with her as she starts back work as a psychiatrist who works with criminals in a facility. she quickly becomes obsessed with her newest patient, trent davis, and the murders that continue to happen even after he’s locked away. the plot twist will really leave you wondering what you just read! because the doctor has more of a connection to trent and the crimes than she realizes.

I was really hooked on this novel! I read through it in about 3-4 days. This was almost a 3.0/3.5 read for me, but unfortunately it fell apart at the end.

The pacing was fantastic. When I say I flew through this book, I really did. There was just enough happening to get you hooked, but not so much that it was difficult to keep track. I'll also admit that I'm a sucker for the "heavy metal Satanist murderer" trope, so I loved Trent!

However - it the inconsistent use of contractions majorly irritated me. The lack of contractions made a lot of the dialogue clunky and somewhat hollow, especially when it came to Trent. However, some dialogue did contain contractions, which was a bit confusing, because why not either use them or don't use them consistently?

I also feel like the last quarter of the book kind of went off the rails, especially with the ending. Looking back, I can sort of see where it came from, but it was a disappointing choice. I also dislike that we lost contact with certain characters toward the end, because I feel like they weren't really "wrapped up" for me.

All in all, it was an interesting read.

This book had me on the edge of my SEAT. It did not take long for me to be hooked and it was so back and forth!! Very good thriller. Not sure if the final production will include trigger warnings, but it may be a good idea given that some of the topics are a little out there and extreme.

It went 0-100% so quick and I was hooked ! Such a cat and mouse trope which I am here for and love. What a thriller indeed.

I love a first person POV too so very enjoyable!

There were quite extreme topics spoken about in a graphic manner, so maybe some trigger warnings for others who may have sensitivities to these topics (I was fine thankfully), but overall a GREAT read !

Serial Killer, Trent Davis, is admitted to her ward and he might be the toughest case yet. While trying to psychologically evaluate Trent’s serial crimes, there’s a copycat killer on the loose.
Readers get to experience the life of psychiatry and detective.
This novel is for a mature audience. It goes into extreme detail of psychiatry work and terminology, medications, and one-on-one evaluations. The author must be a true professional psychiatrist because of all the information provided.
I would have rated 5-stars but the ending was a bit rushed and left me needing more. However, I LOVED this book! I couldn’t stop thinking about it while I wasn’t reading. I became obsessed with this story and wanted MORE. Hopefully, there will be a book two and be made into a series! I cannot wait to read another novel from author S.A. Falk. I devoured this! From start to finish, I was hooked and NEEDED to know what the outcome was going to be; I semi-guessed the twist but needed to know if I was right or not. It was a great, twisty, psychological thriller!

This started out as a solid 4 stars for me. It was very suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. What I liked about this was that it remained exciting and intriguing for most of the story (will explain) and I honestly started a question whether or not there was a copycat or whether they got it wrong… was Trent innocent?!? I definitely suspected different people along the way.

I flew through this book and HAD to know what the truth was… BUT then, the ending happened. It was like sucking all of the excitement out of a room. It felt rushed and it didn’t leave me shocked… it left me annoyed and let down. It’s hard to say more without giving spoilers but it just really ended abruptly and I still can’t connect how the ending actually makes sense based on the story I read.

Either way this was still a solid suspenseful ride so I don’t want to deter anybody!!! Thank you so much for the advance reader copy!!! I will absolutely try more by this author!

This book had so much potential. The premise is good. Dr. Stephani Fletcher works as a therapist for a correctional facility. They bring in a rockstar who has murdered women. Copycat versions start happening on the outside again. Great in theory.

This book was one hell of a ride.

As a fan of psychological thrillers, I wasn't expecting much when I started it, but I was served at the end. The plot twist was AMAZING to say the least. I didn't want to believe it till the very end. I must admit that I suspected it at some point throughout the book, but I kind of dismissed it pretty quickly, so it didn't take much from the feeling of shock at the end. I literally stopped breathing.

You know that feeling when you get near the end of a book and you anxiously flip the page to read the next chapter and then realize that was it? I wanted to scream. I needed MORE.

It was such an easy read, the short shapters made it even easier to go through. It's fast paced. For me, the story got really interesting starting from the 30% mark. Before that, I didn't know where this was all going, but I can't say I felt bored per say. Then it started getting engaging and interesting, and of course, you can't put it down near the end.

The main character, Steph, did annoy me a lot though. She wasn't relatable at all, her choices didn't make sense to me most of the time, and boy was she arrogant. On the counterpart, Trent did his part well. He was enigmatic, chilling, unreadable.

I must however point out that there are a bunch of trigger warning in this book, and it is NOT for the faint hearted. I found myself considering to stop reading at the beginning because of a few of them, so be sure that you are ready of this type of ride before embarking on this journey. This book contains: child SA and physical abuse, devil references, antagonizing religion, self harm, drug use, graphic description of crimes.

I would have preferred more explanation at the end, because it felt like a few things needed to be adressed, but nothing that makes the book truly incomplete.

This book started out very well and had me hooked. Around the 75%/80% mark, it felt rushed. I didn’t guess the big twist but I feel the ending was rushed and left me with more questions eg what happened to Trent, the “demon” inside him etc.

The therapist is a gruesome deep dark type of read, centred around a therapist Steph and her interactions with serial killer Trent Davis, a prolific murderer with very distinctive traits of cannibalism !
During her interactions with Trent, Steph finds herself getting further and further drawn into his psyche which has a detrimental effect on her own mental health and wellbeing !
As the investigations continue the murders continue in the same vein even though Trent is incarcerated and they have the appearance of copycat murders!
As the investigations intensify Steph struggles and is asked to take leave but undeterred she continues to investigate on her own but with surprising consequences as her judgement rationality and mental health dictate some very surprising decisions that I did see coming and felt was quite a predictable ending, and very abrupt!

Secondly, I was so excited to read this book. It had me gripped from the beginning. It had me freaked out at times. Trent Davis is the worst of the worst. He’s an absolute insane monster.

He gets into the mind of the person who’s supposed to get into his mind. The different rhymes he uses to confuse dr fletcher was creepy af.

I gave this 4 stars because I was disappointed by the ending. After that whole book it turns out that Dr Fletcher was the copycat? I feel like that was a horrible plot twist. I was thinking it would’ve been better to be Navarro or Moreno be the copycat killer.

However overall the book is really good and I highly recommend reading it.

This was an interesting delve into all aspects of crime.
While mainly through the point of view of Stephanie, the therapist, we also get a very engrossing insight at the mind of serial killer, Trent, and investigater, Navarro. Plus some POV of another serial killer is featured.
The twist was unexpected and this story kept me interested as more murders came to fruition and we tried to guess how much Trent knew and who this new killer was.
A riveting journey!

I had a hard time getting through this book. I story line wasn’t bad but I found the book to be boring. It really lacked suspense which is something I look for in a thriller. It just wanted able to grab my attention the way I hoped it would. I really enjoyed S.A. Falks first book so I was disappointed that I didn’t enjoy this one.
