I throughly enjoyed this book. The two main characters of Georgie and Gabriel were very well written. I have read a lot of books with a similar setting to this, Duke who suddenly finds himself in need of an heir and therefore a wife. This one quite refreshing in that Georgie had her own thoughts and doubts and that Gabriel actually listened and respected her.
I definitely recommend this book and I'm now off to look at the author back catalogue

I loved the writing style and romantic tension in this book. It was repetitive in places, and it would have been better if the suspense plot and the romance plot were interwoven more. But I really enjoyed the story and the characters. It’s a fun read.

A fun story with a lot of spice. I really enjoyed this one even though spicy isn’t generally my thing in regency romance .

I thought I would love this book but it wasn’t for me, I’m afraid. The premise sounded interesting but the pacing was slow, I struggled to get a proper sense of both Georgina and the duke, it was a bit too insta-lust and the writing felt a bit stilted at times.

Regency orgies! Oh my! *fans self* This was good fun. Much spicier than the usual Regency romances. As long as you are happy to suspend disbelief in certain sections, it's good fun.

Georgie has a penchant for getting in trouble, but she always manages to get out of it, somehow. This time, though, her trouble is following her: the man who she met recently at an orgy is at the same house as her. In fact, it's his family's house, and he's there to host a party with the express intention of finding a wife. Georgie is incredibly attracted to him--and him to her--but she sees no way this can play out between them. She can't be his wife--lust is not a strong enough foundation for marriage, after all. But she doesn't like watching him woo the other ladies, either.

A Duke of One's Own is very funny, and delightfully spicy. I loved Georgie and Gabriel both, and really liked the progression of their relationship. I hadn't read the other books in the series, but I definitely will be now!

to be honest, i was taken aback when i read the first chapter because it’s all talk about sexual intercourse and intimacy. don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong in wanting to talk about these topics if they are handled correctly. i was just not expecting the book to be straightforward and.. spicy 😔 i requested this because i love the book cover, however, don’t be fooled by it because there’s a LOT going on in this book than meets the eye. i think if it weren’t for the spicy conversations and stuff i would’ve given this a 3 at least.

3.5-4 Stars! This was an enjoyable read! The main characters, Georgina & Gabriel, were both likable and the plot was one I’d never read before. Being rescued at an orgy by a handsome stranger who pleasures you before sending you on your way? Yes please! Not totally believable but still a fun time had by all. **Wink Wink**
I did get confused a few times by how things were worded, I had to reread a few areas. The story was entertaining and had me smiling throughout. Witty characters, spicy ‘sexy times’, an original plot I’ve never read before with a HEA ending. A few surprises in this book I didn’t see coming. Considering this was a regency time period, a lot of things in this book weren’t totally believable for that era. Still a good book worth reading.

The book description sounded really promising. A historical romance with a dash of scandal sounded like something I would like. However, I did not connect with the main characters at all. I get that the way they met is supposed to be a bit shocking and intrueging but I didn’t enjoy that part. After that, the story fell a bit flat for me. He was instantly in love (or at least that’s the vibe I’ve gotten) and wanted to scandalize Georgiana. Overall the story wasn’t for me and I didn’t enjoy it.

I truly wish that I would like this book, but unfortunately I don’t.

This was a lively regency romance with good characterisation. The chemistry between the two leads is explored well, giving an insight into the relationship between lust, desire and love. I thought more could have been made of the conflict between a jilted lover, his sister old one of the leads. The attempt to blackmail was predictable and easily defused. An allusion to kidnap was made in the narrative, perhaps that could have been employed to heighten the tension.

I found this book to be totally enjoyable! Lady Georgiana "Georgie" Pendlebury is a bit unladylike - she does not seem concerned about her reputation and often gets herself into situations with behaviors unbecoming to a lady of society, which require her getting bailed out by her brother/guardian. Georgie is not always concerned with staying inside the lines of "polite" society and finds herself attending a clandestine masquerade party (aka orgy)! It is here that she meets a handsome masked, unnamed man who haunts her dreams.

Georgie, her aunt, and her aunts companion are invited to visit her aunt's old school friend. It is here that the man who has haunted her dreams is none other than the ill-reputed Duke Gabriel Mauleverer. The duke needs to marry and produce an heir so his sister convinces him to host a ball and invite several eligible young ladies and their families. Georgie definitely does not want to be a part of this plan yet keeps finding herself alone with the duke despite her best efforts.

The dynamic between Georgie and Gabriel is very well-written, the language is that of the Regency period in history, and the story has a fairly smooth flow with several dilemma's. Perhaps the best feature of the character development was that Georgie and Gabriel freely and openly discussed their fears and hopes as their relationship developed. This was rare for the period of the book as well as contemporary books.

I strongly recommend this to anyone who loves a good regency romance!

A Duke of One's Own is a fun, light and highly bingeable read, perfect for fans of Bridgerton and regency romance.

When Georgie finds herself tricked into attending a less than savoury party, she is rescued by a mysterious masked man. Gabriel has a roguish history, but is forced to consider settling down to fulfil the responsibilities of his role. When Georgia and Gabriel are thrown together at his castle and Gabriel is revealed to be the man in the mask, sparks begin to fly.

This steamy regency romance was an easy read, and full of action and drama. I occasionally found myself stuck in more wordy sections of the story, but overall it was well paced, with delightful twists and turns. I enjoyed the blend of regency language with more progressive themes and relationships which may not be historically accurate, but made for a refreshing and interesting read. The moody setting of the gothic castle was great and made for an excellent contrast with the dramatics of the ton. Gabriel and Georgie's characters were well developed throughout the book, and I liked the way the author interspersed Gabriel's POV to give greater insights into his motivations and experiences.

I loved this book and read it in one sitting, I was so engaged by it. It's difficult to find Regency romance that combines beautiful, thoughtful writing with hot and passionate scenes but this book got the balance exactly right. The characters were complex and interesting, the Duke of Northriding a perfect hero, and the emotional conflict between him and Georgiana very convincing, showing a depth and honesty of emotion that was compelling. The historical background was so well created and enjoyable. Thoroughly recommended!

I'm a bit of a historical romance curmudgeon, I have come to realise. There's so much great historical romance fiction out there that I think I have been spoiled. I want characters with depth and a plot that moves at a steady rate.

Unfortunately, this book didn't deliver that for me. I was initially intrigues by Georgiana's character - she seems determined to be 'good' but can't deny her inquisitive, darker side. And I thought the Duke was an interesting love interest, with a bit of a chequered history and an immediate attraction to Georgiana. But while the writing was fine, the pace was a bit slow for me. These characters did a lot of internal monologuing and nothing much happens in terms of story.

The other characters were a bit stereotypical. I got about halfway through and skimmed to the end - I guess I just didn't get drawn into this story.

A Duke of One's Own was a great read, but like many published books at this time; it seemed to have sideline character plots that where not necessary to make this a good read. I found that the side characters development took away from the main story.

This Regency romance was such a cute and fun read! It lagged a little a times, but, overall, I really enjoyed it and thought the character development was really well done. I loved the spice, and that really set it apart for me from other Regency novels. I feel like most have a slow-burn romance and one spicy scene at the end, but this book does not disappoint in that regard.
