This was such a sweet story of a little girl that has BIG dreams about telling everyone about Jesus. As a little girl that grew up preaching to my stuffed animals, I wish I had this book when I was little. Girls are called to preach too!
Penny absolutely loves going to church and her favorite part of the service is the preaching. Penny dreams of becoming a preacher one day and tries to practice on her friends, only to be told that she couldn't preach because she is a girl. Penny's family goes to a new church and she meets Pastor Sarah who encourages Penny and gives her the chance to preach. Such a great story for kids about God's gifts. Would be a great book for a kid who loves the church or who just loves telling others about God.
I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This is a beautifully illustrated book that reminds our girls that they can follow their dreams and be whoever they want to be. As a person who hasn't had the best experience with organized religion, I wasn't sure about this one when my daughter picked it out. However, it was such a lovely book with a beautiful message. We need many more books like this to encourage our kiddos to be kind and follow their dreams.
The "Preaches' gives away the content of the book. The story is good as well as the art. However, I have to disagree doctrinally to the message this book is trying to say: women can be pastors or preachers.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this since my experience with religion is limited to when I was a whole lot younger and I'm not religious now, but I do feel that this would be a good book for younger children interested in religion and sharing what they know about it, I just feel like my lack of religion spoiled my enjoyment of this book, however the art style was beautiful
I was sent this e-Arc on Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book was amazing to read with my kids and especially my daughter. God’s voice is not just limited to a certain person to be preached by all, whether male or female, old or young He’s word will be shared! Thank you for this beautiful story and message. My kids were inspired by Penny to share God’s word and His love to those around them.
This Christian themed book is sweet and beautiful to look at. I really loved how her family paid attention to why Penny was sad and took her to see for herself that girls can be amazing pastors.
An ADORABLE book perfect for raising the confidence of younger Christian girls! This is one of the best portrayals of Christianity, the ones where God is clearly shown to be bestowing the responsibility and honour of spreading the gospel to every sex! Honestly such an easy to understand read, with beautiful and bright illustrations and an excellent message! Highly recommend!
Beautiful illustrations help share this wonderful story of what God can do to help us share his voice. I loved reading this with my kids and will definitely buy this book when it’s out to read again and again
I really love this kind of bright artwork. This is a fantastic story about Penny, who knows she has important things to share and learns how to find her voice. Along the way, she has her doubts, but she gets the help and support she needs.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this adorable picture book
