My preschool kids are obsessed with the butt books! They laugh their heads off even just saying the word butt. We have a great time reading this book, and have read it several times. It always makes for a fun time and we all laugh and it makes us feel good! Thanks for the copy and helping me bring joy to my classroom!!

If you are looking for a book so hilarious it makes you fall out of your chair, you must grab Dad's Runaway BUTT! by Dawn McMillian. I have never laughed so hard reading a book in my life. Tears streamed down my cheeks and my sides ached before I finished reading. The illustrations by Ross Kinnaird are just as outrageously funny as the author's story. I have to read all the other BUTT! books now.

If you want a zany, silly, totally sidesplitting book, Dad's Runaway BUTT! is it!

My kids loved this book so much! It had them giggling and laughing the whole time. They are obsessed with all of the "I need a new butt" books and even have the game. I would recommend this book to anyone who has little kids, especially if the kids are at the "fart jokes are the best jokes" age.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this!

This was one of those books that just makes you smile!!! and lol.

Dad's Runaway Butt! by Dawn McMillan is another book in the brilliant Happy Butt series and what a superb little happy book this was. It just had me in stitches with my nephew O. We laughed till our stomachs hurt......Plus O could not stop talking about Dad's Runaway Butt! This is one of the greatest sounds is to hear a child laugh out aloud and this book is brilliant for that.

Dad's Runaway Butt was about his dad's butt has blown off his body!

But, Where has it gone?

Will it come back in one piece?

As you turn the pages you will follow Dad's butt as it has its own adventure! and then start your adventure........But I hope this doesn't happen to O's dad in the future!!! lol
I don't think O will stop laughing if it did!!!!

We Loved it.............a superb book with great illustrations throughout - a Joy of Fresh air!

I highly recommend this book it was a joy to read over and over again!

Author Dawn McMillan knows her audience: Young children think butts, farts and pooping are hilarious! While adults might roll their eyes, infantile humor really appeals to — well, the infantile set. So bully for McMillan for giving the primary-school public want it wants and loves. Also, Rose Kinnaird’s quirky illustrations prove the perfect fit for this quirky book.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Dover Publications in exchange for an honest review.

Another great addition to the “Butt” series, Dad’s Runaway Butt did not disappoint. I think my 52 year old child laughed out loud more than my boys did. The rhymes are classic and the rhythm of the book is excellent. The pictures of the butt running away are humorous, and I really enjoyed some of the things it passed along the way. It embraces the silliness of childhood and the typical dad-joke. It’s a fun, lighthearted read for your kid’s bookshelf.

If you want a book that’ll make you laugh this is the one for you. For some reason it’s always the dads that the kids love to giggle about when they fart and boy do they fart a lot. I enjoyed the catchy rhymes too as the story went on. However, as a teacher I’m not sure I’d pick this one for us to read in class lol

MWe haven’t read the previous, well-known book by this author - yet. My child laughed every time I said “butt”… as I had expected. It is entertaining for the littles. Short, quick read. Entertaining graphics.

Dad's Runaway Butt! is a massively silly adventure in rhyming verse for all ages by Dawn McMillan. Released in New Zealand in 2024 as Dad's Runaway Bum!, this edition, from Dover Publications is 32 pages and is available in paperback format.

This is a truly silly and massively entertaining illustrated adventure mostly for the younger readers (~6-10 years), but honestly cute for all ages. After an encounter with something gassy, dad's bum/butt blows clean off his backside and escapes, causing mayhem. The text is written in very simple rhyme and dad's behind has a "fun" day running all over town smelling up the place and scaring the local wildlife.

The art, by Ross Kinnaird is *full* of silliness and whimsy. Aside from the subject matter (dad's blown his butt clean off his body and it's gone rogue), the art is full of fun energy and movement. It's in color throughout and the illustrations are full of small details that invite readers to ponder and look a while (despite the stinky clouds liberally sprinkled around).

Five stars. Whimsical and silly. It would make a good choice for public or school library acquisition, home library, and gift giving with the codicil that there *will* be fart jokes and noises aplenty after reading. For that reason, it might not be the best choice for a bedtime (or classroom) read; on the other hand, it could be a fun choice for precisely the same reasons. Fans of Captain Underpants and Ellie McDoodle will find a lot to like here.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

What kid doesn't love butts...and farting?! Add in some rhyming and it's like a gross song! As ridiculous as it would be for dad to fart off his butt, I loved reading this out loud and couldn't help but chuckle. The imagery of the stink was fabulous!
