This is the eighth installment of the series, The Duke's Guard. This story is part of an exciting series about the stories of the men who swore to protect the Duke of Wyndmere and his family. Darby is the youngest of the four brothers assigned to protect the duke and this is his story. He has been assigned to investigate the latest threat that is to the duke's brother-in-law. In his mission, he comes across Aimee, a girl who was down on her luck. She was compromised and betrayed by a peer and came to London looking for honest, decent work to start her life over, but unknowingly gets tricked and finds herself in worse circumstances. Darby is then sent to rescue her and as they get to know each other he begins to care for her and develops an intense need to protect her. But Aimee has been wronged by a man, and trust doesn't come easy for her. It will take a lot of patience, kindness, and understanding from Darby for her to be able to trust him, and Darby is certainly up to the task.
Another well-written, entertaining addition to the series. The characters were likable and endearing and were portrayed well with depth and personality. Though they had a rocky journey, their story did come to a satisfying conclusion. I look forward to reading the next installment of the series!

The Duke's Enforcer sees Darby Garahan, one of the Duke of Wyndmere's personal guards rescuing Aimee Anderson from a life of prostitution. Following the death of her parents, Aimee goes to live in the home of a distant relative who treats her as one of his servants. When a friend comes to visit her relative, he convinces Aimee that he loves her and wants to marry her so the two travel to Greta Green where Aimee thinks she is marrying him. She realises too late that he had no intention of marrying her but raping her and offering her a position as his mistress. When she refuses, he abandons her on the side of the road, does not allow her to take her luggage or any possessions she brought along with her.

Penniless and destitute, Aimee accepts the assistance of the owner of an inn nearby who gives her a job and while there, she answers an advertisement for a milliner’s shop in London with transport provided. She promises the inn keeper to write the minute she settles into her new job / accommodation. However, when she does not hear from Aimee for many weeks, she grows suspicious and starts making enquiries in London. Ms Michaela (a daughter of a member of ton who works to rescue such women) sends word to the duke’s guards to rescue Aimee.

It is here that Garahan and Aimee’s paths cross and she is rescued from the boarding house, which is a front for a prostitution ring luring innocent women and girls from the countryside to work in brothels in London.

They get to know each other and fall in love. I liked how Aimee refused to be a victim a second time and fought back against the kidnappers hitting one of them over the head with a chamber pot knocking him out cold!

Sweet story that brought two lovely people together. I received an ARC from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and submit my honest review.

Aimee is lied to and physically assaulted by a man she believed would give her a better life. Aimee is then left destitute at a Posting Inn where she slowly builds her confidence thanks to the owners of the Inn. Aimee answers an advertisement for a seamstress in London, but finds herself in terrible danger.
The Angel of the Streets learns about Aimee and Darby goes to the boarding house in a poor section of London to rescue Aimee. Not only does he rescue Aimee, Darby goes back to rescue more victims, especially the young girls.
Aimee and Darby's connection is instant, and Darby promises Aimee he will always be there to protect her. I enjoyed how Darby knew immediately Aimee was the one for him.

Suspenseful Historical Romance

Darby rescued Aimee from a horrific fate. He had no idea that she would capture his heart. Darby watched everyone around him fall in love and get married, but he never thought it would happen to him.

What happened to Aimee made her distrustful of men. Darby rescued and protected her. Would she trust him? Could she give him her heart?

I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to lovers of historical romance with suspense. This series keeps getting better. I look forward to the next book.

This is a sweet story about a woman who gets rescued from a brothel by a man who's employed by the duke's guard. Darby is so patient with Aimee and she eventually learns to trust him. Both of them have physical and psychological wounds. This is the 8th book in the series. I haven't read the previous books yet and I'll admit it that I probably would have known what was going on a lot better if I hadn't started so late in the series.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own..

Aimee finds herself is serious trouble. After getting lied to by a terrible man, she is without a family and no way to make money to support herself. When she answers an advertisement for a job in London. Unfortunately, that is how she finds herself in terrible danger. Garahan is good at his job working as one of the Duke’s guards. When he is given the task of saving Aimee from the bad guys, he finds himself in an unexpected situation. He finds the one woman he can imagine spending his life with, but they are in terrible danger at the moment. Can they stop the bad guys before the bad guy hurts them? Can Aimee overcome the horrors of what she has experienced?

Aimee is a sweet, innocent woman who finds herself in an untenable situation. I like that she was so resilient. As the danger kept coming for her, she could find the beauty and joy in everyday life. I like that she gained strength and love during the story. Garahan is an honest and trustworthy man. I actually believed that part of the story about him falling in love with Aimee almost instantly. He is a really good investigator and the author does a good job showing how he fits into the Duke’s guards. I like all of the side characters. I think they all add to the overall story and overall series.

I might be blood thirsty but I really wanted some big retribution that never materialized. Aimee was wronged so I was hoping she would see the bad guy taken down. All that being said, they is a ring of bad guys that is taken down because of Aimee and Garahan so I guess I just need to accept that.

This story is set primarily in London. This is part of a larger series but can be read as a standalone. I will read more from this author in the future.

This book seems much more of an action/adventure set during the regency than a romance. That's fine, but it was not what I was expecting. There is a romance, of course, but the two of them barely interact and the majority of the story is focused on what the male character does. Additionally, there is a whole lot of talking about who is going to rescue whom and when and what dangers are coming to different women and honestly I found the whole thing really boring.

We are told over and over how much the two characters care for each other, but it's rarely ever shown since again they barely spend any time together at all. So if you would like a book about a nobleman in the regency who rescues women from brothels and such, this book is probably for you.

The Duke’s Enforcer by C H Admirand is another in Admirand’s exciting series about the Duke of Wyndmere’s bodyguards, who are a group of twenty Irishmen, all cousins, all tall and handsome and very strong and brave. This is the sad story of a young women, Miss Aimee Anderson, who had been seduced by a peer who had promised marriage and then reneged. As she was trying to see a way forward for her life, now that her choices had been drastically reduced, she saw an advertisement in the newspaper, promising not only paid passage to London, but a job in a shop once she arrived. She had longed for independence and this was her chance. Sadly, this turned out to be a “come on” and she found herself in a training school for prostitutes. Miss Michaela, a woman of the peerage who helped in these sorts of situations, had sent a letter to Bow Street for her friend, James Garahan. The letter was instead delivered to Darby as his brother was in another location. It outlined Miss Anderson’s situation and asked for help. Of course, Garahan was all in.

This Irish boys are all sights to behold, aside from their physical attributes, they are all honorable, loving, and just plain lovable. Darby is no different. He had not planned to marry but suddenly it was all he could think about. Aimee could not believe she’d been so gullible to begin with, in both cases. She was now hesitant to trust, even Garahan and the Bow Street Runners. The plot was relatively thin, although entertaining. The story was bold and well-told. It was heart-warming in so may ways. Admirand is a wonderful writer, producing terrific, readable books with unforgettable characters. Well worth you time. Thanks for this!

I was invited to read The Duke’s Enforcer by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #CHAdmirand #TheDukesEnforcer

I loved this captivating book and fell in love with Darby from the start! He is gentle and protective, a cinnamon roll hero yet a warrior, fierce, dutiful and honorable with boyish charm.
The plot is intriguing and full of heartfelt emotion, intrigue and yes, humor. The storyline is realistic and unfortunately also takes place in our time. The banter between Darby and his cousin Emmet is fun to read and often made me laugh. I also loved the interactions with the other characters and how Aimee's character developed as the story progressed.

Aimee Anderson is a young, naive woman who is tricked and abused by a suitor who she believed loved her and would marry her. Ruined, she wants to start over but is lured to London by a fraudulent job advertisement, kidnapped and almost pressured into working in a brothel.
In addition to his duty to protect the Duke's family, Darby, the youngest of the Garahan brothers, is tasked with rescuing Aimee and bringing her to Ms. Michaela. Her fate touches him and he vows to protect her from her kidnappers who are trying to take her back...

Overall, a riveting story with lovable characters that I'm happy to recommend!

Darby Garahan’s latest assignment is to to uncover the source behind the threat to kill the duke’s brother-in-law, it’s complicated when the angel of the streets asks for his help. He must rescue a young woman who has been lured to London with the promise of employment, only to end up at a boarding house rumoured to be a front for a brothel. Aimee Anderson answers an advert for a position at a milliner’s shop in London, taking charge of her life after a lord compromised her on the way to Gretna Green a few years earlier, leaving her stranded at an inn.
The eighth book in the series & another well written, well paced book. The characters have depth & are well portrayed. I really liked both Darby & Aimee & thoroughly enjoyed their interesting & rocky journey to a HEA. This wasn’t my favourite book in the series as I was left with questions, did Darby fully recover? Did he seek revenge for Aimee?

This historical romance is part of a series that although you don't have to read every book, you will enjoy them better if you have a bit of background.
Our hero is part of a private security team. Most of the large team are Irish and related to each other. The story this time though, is not connected to our hero's daily work. A friend has asked for help. That is all that is needed for him.
Our heroine has made a couple of unfortunate mistakes. In her innocence, she believed in the wrong people. There is a lot of danger for several characters, including children. You will easily fall in love with each of the characters. The men are everything a hero should be and the women are brave and fiesty.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in the series.
Great fun.

Darby is a busy lad...

One of the duke's guards, Darby is tasked with retrieving a Miss Aimee Anderson, a country lass tricked into working at a brothel. I liked Darby. He's a good guy. Industrious.
Aimee took two chances in her life. One, left her without her virtue and ruined. The seconded landed her in a brothel.
Darby to the rescue.

I am a sucker for this series. It doesn't matter how many times I read a similar plot about a damsel in distress, I'm caught. I love this series and this plot line. So here is Aimee, the damsel, who is betrayed and ends up in a brothel. Along comes her knight in shining armour, Darby. He's strong, handsome and a protector. The rescue leads to marriage and the story takes us through the ups and downs of life when you marry a person who you don't really know. Well written and fully engaging. Can't wait for the next one in the series.

This was a terrific, fast-paced story. Darby Garahan is the youngest of the four brothers assigned to the Duke's Guard and the last one unattached. His current assignment is investigating the latest threat to one of the duke's family members. That task is interrupted when he is asked to rescue a young woman who ended up in a front for a brothel after being tricked by a bogus offer of employment. All she had wanted was to make a new start after a devastating betrayal, only to find herself in worse circumstances.

Like his brothers and cousins, Darby has a tough exterior and a heart of gold. He is strong, kind, and honorable. His anger at what happens to these women is palpable, and you can see the effort it takes to control himself. I loved how gentle he was as he took Aimee to Michaela, how determined he was to protect her, and how understanding of her fears. He never expected to be blindsided by his intense need to care for her.

I loved watching the relationship between Darby and Aimee develop. Darby doesn't take long to realize that Aimee is the woman for him, but he also knows it will take patience to overcome her fears. I loved his determination to show her he could be trusted with her heart and body. Aimee is wary at first but quickly realizes that she trusts Darby. Her problem is that her past prevents her from believing he would want her. Darby's patience and love pay off, but only after more trouble comes their way.

The story is action-packed as Darby assists Coventry and King in stopping those responsible for Aimee's trouble. There are twists and turns and some unexpected connections that keep Darby and the others on their toes. I always enjoy watching members of the Duke's Guard in action, and there are some terrific scenes of them doing what they do best. However, Darby doesn't come out unscathed, and I laughed out loud at seeing his efforts to avoid the treatment he needed. Seeing Aimee stand up to his attempts and keep him in line was especially fun. She puts her anger at what happened to her to good use in the final confrontation, showing that she is an excellent addition to the women of the Duke's Guard.

I liked seeing more of Emmett O'Malley in this book and found his interactions with Michaela intriguing. I suspect we will see more of this pair in the future.

This was a great book. The romance was so good! The main male character was a very caring person and very likable. I would highly recommend this book.

Fast-paced action and romance made this an enjoyable read. He may not be a knight rescuing a damsel in distress, but Darby Garahan is the next best thing when it comes to racing to Aimee Anderson's rescue. Young, naive, and trusting, Aimee is led into a dangerous situation, not once but twice. Having been badly burned by experiences she was too young to have witnessed, Aimee is driven by fear, but as so often happens with a survivor, she uses that anger to help others who are also in danger. She is fortunate to have Darby as her champion. Darby is not alone in his fight against injustice as has the other members of the Duke's Guard to back him up, especially as he is severely wounded in the dust-up. As with his brothers and cousins, when he is driven to protect Aimee, his heart is also involved resulting in a lovely and gentle romance. I received a copy of this novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Darby Garahan is sent on a mission of mercy, to save young girls from a fate almost worse than death. In the process he discovers what his brothers and some of his cousins have already discovered,… LOVE.
I absolutely adore all the cousins that are part of the Duke guard. The story is a daring action where the her saves the heroine and in return the heroine saves the hero. A strong woman to complement the bodily strong man. The story is almost swoon worthy of how the characters interact with each other. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Brothels, Rescues, An Irish Dragoon
We first meet Darby one of the duke's dragoons who is on a rescue mission to save and protect Aimee. She has been tricked by more than one unscrupulous character in this deeply involved crime romance story.
I enjoyed both characters with Darby being my favorite. You couldn't find a more loving, sensitive person. A man of my dreams.
The story is mostly about the dragoons and the horrifying crime that takes place.
There are many emotional struggles for both, many physical brawls with plenty of injuries, a few intimate scenes towards the end that were needed to bring forth a happy heartfelt ending.
🏆Specia Mention: Miss Michaela for her major role in the story.
