WOW WOW WOOOOWWWW. This was AMAZING!
I read it in 12 hours, I could not put it down besides to sleep.

Characters were great. The twists keep coming - you think you know? nope.

Marcie and David, the perfect family. David a local hero after he saves a man from a crash off a bridge.

BUT, David's face in the news prompts some weird stuff to happen.... and some WEIRD facts come out that Marcie didn't know....

Is David a liar? What doesn't Marcie know about his past?

I've always despised the word "Unputdownable" as it is overused on so many books that are quite "Putdownable". Not in this case. I literally read this book faster than any other simple because I couldn't put it down. This book is more David Ellis (a good thing!) than James Patterson but I'm always pleased with the end result of these two getting together. If you are looking for a spy thriller with romance and deceit all wrapped up in a roller coaster of a ride then Lies He told Me should be in your shopping cart. You won't see then ending coming, guaranteed.

Another good book from James Patterson. Marcie learns that her whole married life has been a lie. Her husband has been keeping secrets and her whole life is about to blow up in her face. You won't be able to put this book down until the end.

I really enjoy the shorter chapters, even if it means there is more of them. It makes it easier to stop for a quick second and pick it back up fast. I have truly enjoyed reading books by David Ellis and James Patterson. This is another favorite by them!

How well do we truly know our own spouse? That is something that Marcie is starting to ask herself... Could her husband, David have been part of the attacks that happened year ago. If so, then why? Not just why, but how could she have never know.

You have to grab this book! 5/5

Thank you Netgalley, Little Brown Co., James Patterson, and David Ellis for this advance read.

Buckle up kids, this is a WILD ride!

I read so many of James Patterson's books in high school but haven't read a book of his in a minute. I've been super impressed by David Ellis so was amped to receive an ARC of this Fall 2024 release and it did not disappoint.

A quick read with short chapters that will have you saying "just one more" until you've completely blown past your bedtime. Fast paced with many twists and turns -- you can't take anything you learn at face value in this book!

I loved Marcie Bowers, this smart and determined lawyer who will stop at nothing to protect her family -- even the husband who has been less than truthful about his past in the twelve years they've been happily married.

A great legal thriller -- don't miss it!

I love to read Patterson/Ellis collaborations and this one did not disappoint! When her husband does a heroic deed and is featured on the news, Marcie and David's lives begin to unfold. David's past comes back and Marcie has to question everything about him and the life they live. It was twisty and suspensful. I think I read it in a day. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

WOW! I have never Read David Ellis but I love James Patterson and will read anything he writes or helps right. They had me from the first page and I just couldn't put it down, I would say just 1 more chapter... This was such an enjoyable read and with short chapters I just couldn't put it down and had to keep reading. This had so many twists and had you guessing what you thought was going to happen to only throw another twist and change your thought process. Wonderful, enjoyable read. thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC.

Thank you to @netgalley, @JamesPatterson and @LittleBrownandCompany for this ARC. Marcie and David are celebrating his birthday on a hike when a car plunges into a river from the bridge above. David saves the man and is featured on every news outlet and is recognized by some men from his past. Now, no one is safe. Everything Marcie thinks she knew about her husband was a lie. Another amazing read from Patterson!!!! #LiesHeToldMe #JamesPatterson #DavidEllis #LittleBrownandCompany #Sept2024

Ohhhh this is a good one! Authors, Patterson and Ellis together have created a gripping tale of intrigue and deception, that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The story follows Hannah, a woman whose life is turned upside down when she discovers secrets about her seemingly perfect husband, Daniel. As she digs deeper into his past, Hannah finds herself entangled in a web of lies that threatens her safety and everything she thought she knew. One of the standout features of The Lies He Told Me is its restraint in inappropriate language, focusing on atmosphere and character development rather than relying on shock value. This makes it a great choice for readers who appreciate a well-written mystery with minimal explicit content. It's a quick and enjoyable read that will keep readers guessing until the end.

Wow, what a great book!! It was extremely immersive, like, block everything else out & literally picture this book as you read it. I generally like my suspense reads a bit more domestic (less police/ FBI/ mob) but this was so suspenseful and well written that I couldn't put it down! IDK know what I was expecting but both authors are wonderful on their own, put together I should've know it was going to be a 5 star read. Loved it!

A cunning plot twist keeps the reader engaged throughout the book. Just when the reader believes they have the story figured out, there is a plot twist some may not see coming. Relaxing read for a rainy afternoon.

Thanks to Little, Brown and Company and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this arc in return for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown and company for this opportunity!

I haven’t read a James Patterson book in quite some time so I was thrilled to see this looked more like a domestic thriller than the normal FBI type JP books.

The domestic part of this was great! But the whole Silas aspect did not interest me. It became repetitive to me and somewhat hard to follow the stories of the past.
If this would have stayed on a domestic thriller level, I think it could have been a five star.

LIES HE TOLD ME - The story started off a bit slow but kicked into gear after a few chapters. Interesting story lines, good characters and a few twists made for a hard to put down read. Source: Netgalley. 5*

I loved this so much! It’s an extremely well written, fast-paced read with so many twists! The short chapters make it super easy to fly through the book. I couldn’t stop reading! I needed to know why things were happening and see what was the truth and what wasn’t. This whole story was unpredictable and is easily one of my favorite reads of the year! I had never read a James Patterson book or anything from David Ellis before and will definitely be reading more from both authors!

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown for the opportunity to read this arc!

“I will always wonder if believing a lie would have been preferable to knowing the truth.”

This is a fast paced thriller that will keep you up late at night reading “just one more chapter.”

Hands down my favorite James Patterson book in a while, and I definitely need to read David Ellis.

Thank you to the authors, Little, Brown and Company, and Netgalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Lies He Told Me by James Patterson and David Ellis. Mr. Patterson and Mr. Ellis have masterfully created a complex domestic thriller full of unexpected twists and turns. Written in fast paced short chapters with multiple POVs, the emotional story reveals a dark and unexpected outcome. Highly recommended.

I want to start by saying I'd read David Ellis's grocery list. He knows how to capture his readers and hold onto them throughout the story. The short chapters are wonderful and the 1st to 3rd person perspectives are easy to follow.

Marcie is so relatable and the fact that two men were able to capture a first person POV for a female main character, I really applaud that. It's not always believable but Ellis and Patterson make it seem effortless.

The twists and turns this story takes will leave you on the edge of your seat (and maybe even in tears). The layers of the book are executed flawlessly and they culminate in a really unexpected way. I truly cannot say enough great things about David Ellis, if you haven't read his work, I HIGHLY recommend you do.

When Marcie left Hemingway Grove (HG)for bigger and better things, to be a criminal defense attorney she never thought she would end up back there. How could one case change the direction of your life, not once, but maybe even twice? Marcie thought she left that life behind in Chicago when she moved back home to Hemingway Grove to help care for her sick mother, but she never left and met David one day jogging near the river. David and Marcie made a life with each other and made a family in HG. In a crazy act of heroism on David’s part on his 42nd birthday their lives changed forever.

Oh, James Patterson…. Boy can he write a story. I’ve actually never read any of his thriller books, just his Romance books (which aren’t many, but I love every single one of them). When I saw this book up on Net Galley and read the description I was hooked, it was the exact type of thriller/ mystery book I would read. I don’t read many of these types of books a year, but like the throw them in here and there. I can say just about 25% the way through I thought I knew how it was all going to turn out, and at the 60% mark of the book found out I was wrong. This book is fast moving, a page turner and really makes you think. It made me want to read some of James Pattersons other Thriller/ Mystery books. Also, after reading the About the Author and learning about David Ellis and the books he has written, also that he is a justice in the Illinois Appellate Court, I’m interested to see what his other books are about as well. A great team these two authors were for this books. Bravo!

Thank you Net Galley and Little Brown and Company for this eARC in return for my honest review.
