Stella and Austin are finally married and on their honeymoon in Venice. On their first night there, Austin goes out to retrieve his lost credit card. He never returns. Stella acts right away and frantically calls the police. How could he disappear like that? Was it his business partner, the ex that does not get the hint!?
This was so good! I didnβt expect this! I figured part of the plot but still, it was done in such a good way. The characters gave me all the emotions. The love, the betrayal, the hate, everything. Could I always back up their reasoning? Nah, but as long as it works for the story!
This book was such a lovely surprise. Well written and thought out plot. The twist at the very end got me.
βοΈThank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy. All opinions are my own, I was under no obligation to review.
Stella and Austin have arrived in Venice for their honeymoon which should be the trip of their dreams, but when Austin vanishes on the first night, Stella knows she must search and do everything she can to find out the truth. But what she finds out along the way suggests that her new husband may not be the man she thought he was... Another brilliant thriller from Shalini Boland, I found this one really addictive and it kept me guessing until the shocking ending. Wow! Amazing twists and turns, a brilliant read.
Venice has been referred to as βLa Serenissimaβ since Byzantine times, but thereβs nothing serene or peaceful about the Lewisβs honeymoon!
I love Bolandβs ability to serve up the unexpected. The last thing one imagines doing on such a magical night is searching the canals and passageways for a loved one. Stellaβs husband simply disappeared on the first night of their honeymoon after leaving the hotel to retrieve his credit card from the restaurant theyβd dined at hours earlier.
I loved this pacey armchair travel to one of my favourite European cities as well as the chance to narrow down a potential suspect from a cast of untrustworthy characters. The alternating timeline allowed me to constantly change suspect focus as I learned more about Stella and Austinβs pasts. I could imagine the panic and the frustration at communicating with a police force in a foreign country, dodging the βI told you soβ looks from disapproving parents, the anxiety of not knowing which friends/family to trust, and the depth of guilt one would feel for not accompanying a loved one on their errand.
Bolandβs complex plots and unsuspecting twists are STELLAR!
I was gifted this copy by Thomas & Mercer and was under no obligation to provide a review.
The Honeymoon by Shalini Boland is an absolute roller coaster of a read from beginning to end.
Stella is madly in love with her new husband Austin and is thrilled to be spending their honeymoon in romantic Venice. But when Austin goes missing, Stella finds herself in a desperate search that will yield more questions than answers. Just how well does she really know the man that she has vowed to love forever?
In my book, Shalini Boland can do no wrong as an author, and she proves herself once again with this bingeable and completely engrossing thriller. Just when you think you have it all sussed out, stop and think again.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an ARC.
Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 13th June. Wow, wow what a book I flew through it, as there were many twists and turns that completely threw me as I thought I worked out what would happen but of course I didnβt!
Shalini Boland does it again with a highly addictive and thrilling book! I absolutely adore this authors writing style and her ability to write suspenseful book that keeps you on the edge of your toes!

My Review:
Wow and Loved!!!!! What isnβt there to love about any of this authors books. She is definitely one of my favorites for so many reasons. I get hooked from the very first page with every book I read of hers. I immerse myself into the characters lives like Iβm the one whoβs actually there living it with all of them. Hours can pass me by until I realize I need to get up and get something done. This book was no different. I didnβt know what to trust with this one. As I continued reading I noticed there were many secrets to be had. My first question was who is telling the truth and who is lying. It was very hard to tell as everyone had a different version of the same story. That plot also had me very intrigued. Who goes missing on their honeymoon? That should be such a happy romantic time instead it was sad and miserable. Now letβs talk about my favorite part, the ending. It rocked me. I was like OMG. I canβt wait for this authors next book.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Heartsβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
The Honeymoon by Shalini Boland
It was the perfect romantic honeymoon. Until her husband disappeared.
It was supposed to be the happiest time of their lives. But for newlywed Stella, the dream honeymoon has turned into a nightmare overnight. Her perfect husband, Austin, has vanished without a trace.
Alone in Venice, Stella frantically searches for him. But as fear turns into confusion, she finds herself questioning everything she knows about the man she married. Has Austin really abandoned her, or has someone from his past finally caught up with himβthe business partner he threatened to sue? The obsessive ex-girlfriend who refuses to let go? When Stella becomes convinced someone is following her, panic sets in.
As hours turn into days and clues start to unravel dark secrets, a terrified Stella canβt help but ask herself: is her husband who she thought he was at all?
I give this book a 4 star rating. It was a quick read. You got to really know the characters and felt the scenery of the book. I would recommend reading this book.
I received this ebook arc free from NetGalley and am voluntarily writing this review.

Wow! Iβve just finished this book and what an ending. I certainly didnβt see that coming.
Iβve loved all of Shalini Bolandβs books, however this definitely stands out as one of the best.
Itβs the perfect psychological thriller and one that Iβd firmly recommend.
I am always so happy to see a book from this author cause I know I am going to be in for a rollercoaster of a ride. This was no exception it had me gripped from the first page until the very last and wow what a jaw dropping ending it was really did not see that coming. It was well written with well developed characters that I found it so hard to put down.
Stella has just married the love of her life they are on honeymoon in Venice when he pops out but doesnβt come back. Alone in Venice Stella tryβs to find her new husband but in the process finds things out that she wish she didnβt. Has Stella made a mistake getting married and what is everyone hiding.
This is one of my favourite read so far this year fantastic thriller which I will be recommending to everyone. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.
Stella and Austin are in beautiful Venice at the start of there honeymoon.........and that's where the loveliness ends.
I got totally sucked into this story from the very beginning. Austin is missing, the police become involved, both sets of parents are called upon and the craziness continues. The twists are very clever and kept me guessing. This is a must read.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
I can't decide if I enjoyed this or not! I definitely found it hard to put down, and I loved the descriptions of Venice, but I feel like the book took unreliable narrator too far, and I just feel misled.
Stella austin
The book opens with Stella and Austin on their honeymoon in Venice. Then Austin vanishes. I was excited to get an ARC of this book because I love the type of book. You just know the husband (or wife) has a big secret. I am not a fan of missing children books, but husband or wife - I will read them all day long..
This tells the story of the search for Austin, with alternating stories of how Stella and Austin got together.
The pluses on this book:
-- It was quick, fun, easy read
-- I could picture the people and the place - it would make a great movie
-- I really felt like I was in Venice while reading it - the writing really put you there
-- It was a really good story and I was rooting for Stella and Austin - at first..
-- I thought I knew were this was going but the author managed to surprise me
If you are looking for an entertaining missing person mystery, pick this one up.
I want to thank the author, the publisher and #netgalley for the ARC which did not impact my review #thehoneymoon This is a sold 3.5 stars, which I am rounding up to 4.
Stella and Austin get married and travel to Venice to honeymoon.
On the first night of their honeymoon, Austin goes out to collect his credit card at the restaurant they dined in, and never returned.
Stella is frantic with worry, and searches for him, but is unable to locate him.
She has two stalkers, one of which is explained by Austin's business partner, but the other - Stella never finds out who it is.
Shalini Boland is the queen of psychological suspense thrillers.
This is fast paced, suspenseful and twisty.
The book is told in two different timelines - Then and Now, which I liked.
What I didn't like was the amount of clothing description. It served no purpose in the plot of this book.
I have a question though, I just hope it isn't considered a spoiler. How on earth does someone get past a reception desk in a hotel twice without being noticed?
I did figure out who the second stalker was, but the twist in this tale was a shocker.
Fans of Shalini Boland will enjoy this new book. I certainly did.
Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this ARC.
A brilliant rollercoaster of a ride⦠I read this book in one sitting in less than a day and loved every minute of it
A canβt-put-down book!β¦ I read late into to the night because I just had to know what the ending was going to be. Phenomenal... I could not put it down... took my breath away and I gasped out loud. OMGβ¦ My goosebumps had goosebumps
A new Shalini novel is a real treat! I was so happy to receive this one and got stuck in right away. I felt so sorry for Stella, alone in Italy on her honeymoon. Shalini writes her as such a three dimensional character. Also, having never gone to Italy, I felt I was there, Shalini paints it and it's charaters in such a rich light. That said this was a thriller, so many red herrings and I was questioning everyone at one point! Now to wait for Shalini's next nove,.
I flew through this book in one sitting on a plane ride. The story, told in both βnowβ and βthenβ timelines sucks you in quickly and keeps you guessing. Stella and Austin are on their honeymoon in Venice when Austin suddenly goes missing. The story follows Stella as she frantically searches for her missing husband and learns that things arenβt always what they seem.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC - this was my first Shalini Boland and I am now interested in picking up some of her other books.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC of The Honeymoon by Shalini Boland.
Shalini Boland is one of my favorite authors and I love all the books I have read of hers so far and this book is no exception. Austin and Stella are on their honeymoon in Venice when Austin mysteriously disappears. This sets the scene for a fantastic book that alternates from present to past with a twisted ending. What a fantastic book!!
Has Austin really abandoned her, or has someone from his past finally caught up with him, the business partner he threatened to sue? The obsessive ex-girlfriend who refuses to let go? When Stella becomes convinced someone is following her, panic sets in.
This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, and some fantastic crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I'm always in line for anything by this author, and her latest is an action-packed, twisty, stunning read.
Stella and Austin have just gotten married and are on a dream honeymoon in Venice. Their first night together is everything Stella hoped it would be, and when she wakes briefly to the sounds of Austin getting dressed, he placates her by telling her that he left his credit card at the restaurant. He soothes her back to sleep, reassuring her that he'll be right back.
But Austin never returns.
Alone in a foreign country and far from home, Stella calls upon her in-laws and her parents to help her make sense of this bewildering situation. She pieces together all the parts of Austin's life, and when she considers the business partner he's suing, the ex-girlfriend who just refuses to let go, and the fact that she's positive someone is following her, she has to ask herself some tough questions about her new husband and their life together.
This was a completely immersive, ignore all the things that need to be done kind of read. Your heart will break for Stella, and the author builds up the supporting characters so well that all of the scenes easily played out like a movie. Told through alternating timelines, the reader gets some great insight into this relationship and why that masterpiece of an ending had to happen. I truly believe this is her twistiest book yet! A massive thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer Publishing for the early read. THE HONEYMOON will publish June 13, 2024.
OMG! Shalini Boland does it again with this fast paced thriller. The Honeymoon tells the story of Stella and Austin and goes back and fourth between the past ( a year before their wedding) and the present ( their honeymoon). This book is filled with characters that you just love to hate and they all look guilty. This one had me hooked from the very first page and I finished it in just one day.
Austin is the love of Stella's life, or so she thinks. What happens when the person that you have grown to depend on and trust with your life just suddenly disappears?
Clear your schedule and hang on because because you will be in for a wild ride.
