A beautiful romance filled with rich dialogue, scenery and characters that make you want to go visit the charming seaside village of Moonstone Landing. Caden and Ella are perfect for each other but need to trust in their hearts and believe. A wonderful journey and equally wonderful happily ever after.
If you like banter, this story is for you! I love visiting Moonstone Landing and Caden and Ella’s story is part of that reason! A physically and emotional wounded soldier renews his acquaintance with Ella by throwing a cup of cider at her, and so begins the fight. I loved Ella’s sweet, but strong manner, though I would not have stood for some of the shenanigans Caden handed her. I could understand her father’s frustration and anger and was touched by his love for his little girl. Watching Granddfather’s antics was positively shocking, but seeing him at the end was amazing. Caden’s growth was tremendous, but his inability to say no to people was frustration personified! Would have loved to have seen the villain’s downfall on paper, and would have loved to have seen Caden’s “almost arranged marriage” person get her due as well.
An enthralling story, filled with the best characters and an amazing plot line!
I received the ARC for free and these are my own opinions.
Lady Ella Stockwell, a diamond of the ton, first met Caden Seaton, Lord Mersey the previous year in the ballrooms of London where she found him to be cynical, arrogant and generally insufferable. Their next meeting however is when he is a recovering patient in the military hospital at Moonstone Landing. He is still as rude and insufferable as ever but she can see in his eyes that he is suffering from more than just his physical injuries. Unbeknownst to her, Caden fell for her almost at first sight, before his Regt was shipped off to Africa and thoughts of her have stayed with him over the months but his body, his mind and his life are in far too much of a mess for him to commit to her. Over the weeks of his healing, Ella visits on a daily basis and they fall in love but still Caden won’t commit and his knowledge of what needs to be done to stop another tragedy and, the danger that might bring to Ella, makes him even less likely to speak up.
An insightful, fascinating story with family and love at its heart.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this story from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Caden returns home from the war as a “hero”. The injured soldier does not feel deserving of that title since all of his men were needlessly massacred. Ella is determined to nurse him. Caden uses his hero status as a means for reform in the military. Attracted to each other before he left for the war, they try to deny their feelings. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
Totally enamoured of Moonstone Landing and its inhabitants including the extensive Angel family.
Ella is a much beloved woman who, spends her summers there with her Uncle Cormac.
She dedicates much of her time assisting in the local army hospital and reencounters Caden, a man she danced with the year before he shipped out to serve and fight for his country. Caden is injured body and soul but is Ella’s biggest obstacle healing him physically or changing his life with her love and patience?
Fall in love with these characters as Moonstone magic continues to work its charms.
In agony, both mentally and physically, Caden Seaton did not expect the lovely Ella Stockwell to come barging into his hospital room and give him the dressing down he so richly deserved. He could never forget the beauty he shared a supper dance with the year before, but to have her see him at his weakest is beyond endurance. Ignoring his bad humor, Ella cajoles Caden into sharing precious moments that start to bring about healing and some measure of peace. Finding that there are men who understand his anguish helps as well, especially when they persuade him to use the anger he is feeling to bring about change in the way Britain does business with countries that supply them with precious commodities. As always, the Angel family brings about lively moments and the healing power of the shimmering air in Moonstone Landing accelerates Caden's restoration until he is able to face his overbearing grandfather and the Lords who want answers to the questions that have been raised about the massacre that took place. Ella often feels as if she stands last in line for Caden's attention, but she recognizes that he has a mission to complete, and although he is continually distracted by the demands of high-ranking officials, his love for her is true and strong. If only he would stay around long enough to receive confirmation from the glimmering moonstones of Moonstone Landing. The novel comes to a beautiful conclusion and is a standalone, despite several characters from previous novels appearing in this one too. I received a copy of this well-written romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
