Really enjoyed this one! I should have read it so much sooner! But I don’t regret it. This maybe a new obsession! I love the characters, plot, etc.

I did not read the first couple of books that were before this, however, that did not ruin anything. I now want to go back and read the first two books! Well written easy paced book!

This is the third novel in the Rooker Lindstrom series. I don’t think I can clearly express how underrated this series is!

It’s gripping, keeping you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book. I don’t want to give up too much detail because I feel like it will ruin the book, but if you enjoy books about serial killers & excellent police procedurals, this book is for you!

I was thrilled to get my hands on the newest book and immediately dove in! I was hooked from the beginning and loved catching up with the characters. The writing felt disjointed in the middle- there were time gaps that just did not flow seamlessly. However, I loved the ending! This was a fun read!

This seemed a little final so I'm not sure if the author is continuing this series or if this was the conclusion. I hope for the former, because while I enjoyed the way the original plot was wrapped up, I was hoping for a different personal ending for Rooker. Needless to say I was not a fan of the journalist girlfriend. Overall, this series is very well written and the characters are well-developed and realistically flawed. I would read more from this author and would be interested in more from this series.

I wasn’t aware that this was a third book series until I began reading it. I have not read the previous books in the series which left more questions and the need to fill in spaces. The Man Feared by Darkness however it did not impair my understanding of the story. Rooker has a dark past that continues to haunt him in every action he takes. He is now back in California working with the team who is searching for the Madman or his copycat. As they often do in serial killer investigations lines get blurred everytime Rooker digs in the past to work on the present case leading to unforeseen moves at the end. I really enjoyed reading this story which has a dense but engaging plot, it's fast-paced and well-written.

The third and final installment of the Rooker Lindstrom series was a seriously fantastic read. I've thoroughly enjoyed this series, Pete's writing has been top class and I can't wait to see what else comes from this writer.

The Man Feared By Darkness was a tense, complex and wonderfully dark read. It keeps you compelled and I really didn't see the ending. It was wholly satisfying. This was definitely my favourite of the trilogy!

I’ve enjoyed this series! Serial killer thrillers are my absolute favorite and this series did not disappoint.
I loved being back at it with crime reporter Rooker Lindström.
It’s never a dull moment and Pete knows how to bring the tension and excitement along the way.
Captivating, suspenseful, unexpected. It's a book you won't want to stop reading until the end.

I was quite surprised at how much I liked this one. I did go in blind, so the references to the previous books were completely lost to me. I loved the characters, and the mystery was fantastic. Also, I almost gave up when I saw the number of chapters in the book. 72. Too many way, too many.

I loved this! I'm sort of bummed this is the end of the Rooker Lindstrom trilogy as I've loved getting to know his character over these three stories.

Let me start with: At the beginning of my review of book 2 I said: "Thank you Thomas & Mercer for the ARC to read & review!
The opposite of 'thank you' to Pete Zacharias FOR THAT ENDING (insert broken heart emoji)"

Even after Mr. Zacharias did THAT to readers at the end of book 2, I was still excited to see Book 3 come up. But like-- you DID IT AGAIN!?!?! UGH, if you've read this you know that ending was whiplash and emotionally exhausting (lol'ing and sobbing).

This, as usual, was descriptively written and super fast paced. This is heavy on the police procedural as it is based in the FBI investigation; there are a couple times you wonder if Rooker and Tess are going to go off the rails and do their own thing. There were some red herrings and good twists along the way to finding out the identity of the Madman. As with the last book the chapters from the Madman's POV were creepy and insightful. The fact this person has a family is mind-blowing and so interesting.

I love the writing and I'll read whatever Pete comes out with next!

"The Man Feared by Darkness" is a winding and twisty triumph of a novel. While this is a 3rd book in the series, I hadn't read either of the first two books and I did notice areas where I was missing some big moments, but I didn't feel that it took away from the story at all. We enter the story after a series of murders and the conviction of a serial killer, only to realize that the person they caught may not have been the right one, or at least not working alone. The assembled team must unearth the pieces to the puzzle to discover what is really going on, and determine once and for all, who is the culprit. The multiple layers to the narrative kept me deeply vested in the story and in trying to figure it all out before the revelations. I enjoyed this book enough that I plan to backtrack to the first two books to complete the picture in my mind.

Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy! So happy that I got to read the third installment before the release date. I’ve really come to love the main character, Rooker, and his tortured past. The third installment brings back a familiar face, and takes place on the west coast while trying to uncover if Meachum really killed Rookers son, or was there more to it? You get some closure, but I think there is a little left unsaid. Great twisty ending to the series, but leaves you wondering if there’s gonna be a fourth.

I really want to like this series but three books about an obsessed serial killer, who manages to manipulate a has been write because he doesn't like the stories written about him. The Alan Feared by Darkness is not a Sept and alone. I strongly encourage you to read 1 and 2 first. Number 1 is the strongest of the 3, number ,3 depends on missed clues, killer luck, and conspiracy plots. Roller is self destructive and I finally accepted that and finished.
I gave it a 3 because the other books are strong, but the wrong women die.n🤦

The Man Feared by Darkness by Pete Zacharias is part of the Rooker Lindstrom series, and the first book I have read by this author. If Mr. Zacharias's books were a drug, they would be a quick acting one, causing the reader to become addicted before they finished reading for the first time, as all you can do is sit there and devour the book from beginning to end, barely able to set the book down, even in the most dire of circumstances! The hypnotic power of Mr. Zacharias's writing scope is magic indeed, and to be able to experience the full force of his talent is a rare treat. Now, I have to go back and read the first two books in the Rooker Lindstrom series, but if they are anything like this third book, I will be in book heaven!

I really like this series. Rooker is the son of a serial killer and it has impacted him all of his life.

After his son was murdered, his marriage broke up and he moved to Minnesota. Over the previous books we follow his life and his relationships especially with the local police force.

In this book, a murder takes place in California which has all the hallmarks of murders committed by a man that Rooker helped convict. He is asked (told) to go to California to act as a consultant to the FBI.

The story is good, the plot solid.

This book was a great end to the Rooker trilogy. It finally wraps up the cases surrounding his father and his son. It had a good mix of bitterness, happiness, anxiety, and fear. I think I found a new author to add to my auto-buy list.

I’ve been reading this series from the beginning and it’s nice to see how far Rooker has come since then. He’s one of my favorite characters. I’m sure that has something to do with the fact that I am sober. Maybe it makes it easier for me to identify with such a damaged character. Nonetheless, his character is written incredibly well. And his relationship with Tess has a stem of reality to it as well. Murder cases aside, Zacharias does a great job of showing how difficult the relationship can be between a spiraling alcoholic and a “normie”. (Even though that normie is now heading on the same path). It turns out that I was right about Meachum from the start, which only left us readers with a laundry list of questions. But now that the majority of those questions have been answered, where does the story go now? There is a whole new set of questions. Will this be the end of the series? I have a feeling it won’t be. I think there will be a whole new set of stories with new characters and alliances formed where enemies used to be.

It was so good to reacquaint myself with Rooker, a character I’ve come to love despite his tortured past. The plot and story continue where they left off and offer multiple twists and turns throughout that made it hard to put the book down. A must read.
