I don't about you but this book was entertaining! So many emotions and I find myself rooting for them so hard. It was so fun and definitely a worth it read.
I loved this book. I really enjoyed the premise and the way there is a story within a story. This book is one of my favs of the year and I am grateful I got to listen to the audiobook. It’s done very well.
I laughed out load and cried, I love how well Katherine creates these characters and Patti Murin, the narrator brings them to life.
It made me take a minute and reflect on my own relationships and what I’m willing to do for my family and my spouse. Good stuff. I like when I can find a book that makes me pause and gives me space for my own reflections.
Katherine Center has always been a favorite, but this book was an absolute win for me. The main characters were so easy to fall in love with and I found myself literally laughing out loud multiple times while reading this book (which got me quite a few weird looks while I was reading it at work, since I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN.) This was such an easy and quick read for me and exactly what I needed at this time. Definitely the book to read if you’re needing a happy rom-com to get you out of a bad mood. I cannot recommend The Rom-Commers enough.
I like Katherine Center more and more and more and more. This book was SO good! The authors note at the end? Even better. This story was a BEAUTIFUL love letter from a romance author to a reader who loves romance books. It was beautiful. Thank you Katherine.
I already love Katherine Center and this book did not disappoint. I think Center does a great job writing characters who feel real. I don't agree with all their choices, but I route for them. Emma and Charlie both had their deeper issues they were dealing with, but it was fun watching them go from strangers, to friends, to lovers. I appreciate both the moments that make me laugh and the ones that make me cry. The narrator of the audiobook did a great job helping me to feel connected to these characters and the story as a whole. Fantastic read. 4 stars.
This book was fantastic. I loved the characters, and if I wasn’t busy while listening, I could’ve finished in one sitting. I loved Emma’s character and can’t wait for future Katherine Center books!
Katherine Center really doesn't miss and The Rom-Commers is no exception! Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC - this was a joyful read!
Absolutely loved it, and loved it so much on audio! I’ve loved every Katherine Center book I’ve read, they always grab my attention right from the start. This book had so many tropes I loved - forced proximity, workplace romance, grumpyxsunshine, and just so many feel good vibes!
Emma Wheeler has always wanted to be a screenwriter. Well technically she is but she hasn’t been able to work at it film time. As it turns out she has been taking care of her father for years. She loves being her dad’s caregiver but a career break would be ok, well maybe? She hasn’t let herself believe, she could make it as a full time, screenwriter. An opportunity comes up and between Emma, her father and her sister, decide she has to take the opportunity. They almost literally have to laugh her out the door. But it’s the opportunity of a life time to help Charlie Yates.
Emma heads out to California. She leans on her family and starts the next faze of her life. She is to live in Charlie’s house but when she gets there, he seems to not even know she was coming. With things off to a shaky start Emma, decides to persevere. She makes strides each day to get things done. She works hard to get him to be honest and work on this project. There are tough days and good days but, with her dad taken care of at home, she is able to sore. Katherine Center tells such a good story of love, loss and taking chances. Emma and Charlie are a great match and it was a pleasure to see where there story would end. This was a four star read for me, it had everything I love in a RomCom. I want to thank Netgalley, Katherine Center & Macmillan Audio for my copy of The Rom-Commers, for an honest review. It was my pleasure to listen and review this book. Katherine Center; Patti Murin and did an exceptional job narrating this story.
As readers, we have an expectation going into Katherine Center's books and I'm pleased to say, The Rom-Commers definitely delivered.
When two characters are thrust together, Emma, there to rewrite a screenplay from a famous, and rather grumpy, writer and said writer, Charlie, not wanting to mold his work into one of romance, sparks DO NOT fly. In fact, Charlie believes his script is fine as is while Emma feels it's an abomination to all romance stories in the world.
With top tier banter and a grumpy x sunshine pairing, this story has a lot going for it. The characters themselves are each dealing with their own personal battles. There was a good mix of laugh out loud moments and serious ones. I feel that the narration was on point.
This is a delightful read. IF I were a rereader, I would definitely dive back into this story.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook. All thoughts in this review are honest and my own.
I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
I loved everything about this book. The story, writing, and the narrator was all so good! I fell in love with these characters and didn’t want the story to end!
Katherine did it again. What fun characters. They female protaganists are always so whimsical and flighty in the best ways. They aren't the perfect girl saying the perfect thing, and so I relate to them greatly. I foundt the writer to writer plot so interesting, and I enjoyed their back and forth experiences together as they tiptoed around each other. I loved it.
Katherine Center is one of the best when it comes to writing such relatable and loveable characters with a sweet romance and storyline that is full of emotion. Her books will have you laughing out loud one moment, and tearing up the next.
The Rom-Commers was one of my most anticipated reads this year, and I loved it!
Emma Wheeler is a romantic comedy enthusiast who knows all about what makes a great rom-com. She’s been writing romance stories for years, and had dreams of becoming a screenwriter, but put her desires on hold to care for her dad who needs around the clock care.
When the stars align, and she’s asked by a friend who represents famous screenwriter Charlie Yates, to be his ghost writer, Emma decides to take the chance of a lifetime to help fix the story Charlie has written, and bring on the next romantic comedy together.
The only catch is that she must go out of her comfort zone, and travel to LA for the next six weeks to live and work close to Charlie.
Filled with such fun banter, great chemistry, well developed characters, and an emotional storyline that gripped me right away, I couldn’t help but fall in love with The Rom-Commers.

🎧I paired the book with the audiobook, and loved the narration by Patti Murin, who captures the emotions so well. I’ve come to know her voice and performance from a few of Katherine’s previous books, and was delighted to see her narrate The Rom-Commers as well.
*many thanks to St Martin’s Press and Macmillan Audio for the gifted copy for review
Katherine Center is a master of sweet, clean, romance novels and I love her dedication to sharing stories about love and hope. The Rom-Commers is another fun, lighthearted read, full of fun banter and a witty heroine that’s easy to adore. This was definitely a slow burn, but full of laughs and fun, so it never felt like the story was dragging. I also LOVED the Jack Stapleton and Hannah cameos (from The Bodyguard ❤️). The narration was another excellent performance from Patti Murin 👏

The Rom-commers by Katherine Center is another delightful addition to Center’s collection of heartwarming stories. As an auto-buy author for me, Center never disappoints, and this book is no exception. It’s a perfect blend of humor, romance, and emotional depth that feels like a big hug.
What I Loved:
Character Development: Center excels at creating well-developed characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. The protagonists, Emma and Charles, are relatable and multi-dimensional, with their personal growth and evolving relationship feeling authentic and deeply moving.
Engaging Plot: The storyline is both fun and thought-provoking, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers engaged. The mix of romance, personal challenges, and the dynamics between the characters make for an enjoyable read.
Emotional Resonance: Center’s stories always have a way of touching the heart. The themes of love, friendship, and self-discovery are beautifully woven into the narrative, making it a deeply satisfying read.
Audiobook Experience:
Narration: The audiobook, narrated by the author herself and Patti Murin, adds an extra layer of depth to the story. The narrator’s ability to convey the characters’ emotions and personalities enhances the listening experience, making it easy to get lost in the story.
Overall, The Rom-commers is a beautifully written and emotionally resonant romance that will appeal to fans of contemporary love stories. Katherine Center delivers a story full of love, laughter, and heartfelt moments, making it a perfect read (or listen) for anyone who enjoys a deeply emotional romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It struck a perfect balance between being fun and realistic. The characters were likable and relatable, with a depth that added richness to the story. I felt genuinely invested in their journey, which is a rarity for me in romance novels. I also appreciated the restraint regarding more explicit content; while the chemistry between the characters was palpable, the narrative didn’t rely on excessive intimate scenes. This is my favorite work by this author to date.
DMF because I didn’t have enough time to read it, not because it wasn’t interesting! Katherine Center first captivated my interested with The Bodyguard and held on to it with a tight grip when she wrote Hello, Stranger. Her books just have that something special
Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan audio for the advanced audiobook.
The Rom-Commers is a heartwarming story of two people overcoming traumatic pasts. One of them believes wholeheartedly in love, while the other needs a lot of convincing. They meet while trying to fix a screenplay for a romantic comedy.
The first half of the book was cute and funny. The pair have quite a few mishaps and there's a guinea pig to boot. As the story progresses, so does their relationship and their ability to open up to each other. The end of the books gave me all the feels.
There was a lot I wished for throughout the book and I did feel like it could have progressed much faster. One thing I felt was missing was either the male POV or at least more than a tiny hint that he was interested in her. At one point I doubted if this was a romance and that they were actually going to end up together. I really didn't feel the romantic chemistry between these two. So the grand gesture at the end kind of came out of nowhere for me, although I did love the gesture.
I wanted to fall in love with this book so badly. I've heard a million good things about the author, the cover is so cute and the premise is adorable. Unfortunately the characters just weren't my cup of tea.
