Provocative and addictive. I loved it!

I was extremely here for "Detained" – a book about a journalist who finds herself detained in a Shanghai airport with a businessman – when I thought it was going to be a romance take on a locked-door mystery trope. But when the revelation came that Will used his money and power to have her detained and set the entirely situation, I was out. I found the whole premise manipulative and frustrating, and I just couldn't root for him after that, unfortunately.

That said, I do enjoy Ainslie Paton's writing style, and it's clear that she knows how to tell a compelling story – I just wish this was one I had enjoyed more.

This was a good story. If you'd like a story to take you through the day, this is the book for you. This is an author to watch. Definitely one I'm on the watch for.
