As an entrepreneur, coach and armchair futurist, I loved this book. If you make a habit of keeping an eye on what is on the horizon for our society, you’ll want to read this book. I’m not 100% convinced yet of a metaverse future, but I can clearly see what is possible. Since I coach clients internationally, my only real question is bandwidth. Wouldn’t this make team coaching across continents easier? I strongly recommend you read this book, even if it is only to see what could one day (and apparently is already happening for some) be your workplace. Those who jump early will have to also cultivate the desire for clients to meet in the metaverse, but the leap would be worth it, I suspect. In truth, I think I'd like to give this a try, just so I better understand some of the parts - like the role of a park in the virtual workplace. Would I be getting actual exercise, or only virtual?
Overall this is an interesting listen/read. I was given the opportunity to review an advance listen copy through Netgalley. The narrator is clear, engaging, and conversational.
I'm very curious about virtual reality and new advances to technology. This book is a quick read, and gives a basic introduction into the history of virtual workplaces, the benefits of virtual workplaces for companies, workers (including those with diverse abilities and neurodivergencies), and the greater public. The author, for the most part, is highly optimistic about the possibilities of these new technologies. He does discuss potential ethical/privacy issues, but he places A LOT of faith in companies to do what they can to ensure reduced bias, safety of workers and the public, and care. I am not convinced that will be the case, so that's the main issue that brings me pause. The metaverse sounds great on paper, but I still have a lot of concerns about what that would mean for society.
I do feel more informed about the real concerns and advantages to virtual workplaces from this book, so for that, I would recommend it!
The Metaverse Workplace Revolution, Jason Gesing
His imagination is interesting, but I struggled with his stretch on reality. Some of his ideas seem fascinating but he would lose me when he tied it into why current workplace environments fail. There were too many opinions and not enough facts supporting his assertions on the current work environment so it made it difficult to trust his perspective for the future in metaverse. I gave 2.5 stars though because I did appreciate the mind bending exercise.
Thank you Net Galley for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my review. #netgalley #themetaverseworkplacerevolution
This is a quick and very informative read. I think the author shared some engaging ideas that will make people re consider the work space (in person and virtual) and its future. COVID 19 really forced employers to jump into a virtual realm but the discussion the author takes this all a step further. Definitely a subject that I didn’t know much about so it was an interesting learning experience for me personally as well.

I breezed through "The Metaverse Workplace Revolution" in one sitting; it's a quick yet highly informative listen. Offering a fascinating glimpse into the metaverse, a concept I've long been curious about but haven't yet experienced firsthand.
