A great addition to the collection of "off grid" cooking ideas. Some basics plus some things that may be for the more adventurous spirit.
Honestly, I’m not outdoorsy but I love a good Amish cookbook. These recipes, for the most part, can be made inside as well. This was another wholesome cookbook by this author.
Wanda E. Brunstetter's Amish Friends Outdoor Cookbook is the newest addition to her cookbook series. This spiral bound coated book has over 250 recipes. Recipes are divided into sections by cooking devices, including stick, pie iron, foil packet, cast iron, or grill. Advice is also available for important activities such as building a fire, packing a cooler, maintaining cast-iron items, and various other things.
This is a must have for outdoor cooks and camping lovers. The variety of recipes is so wide that everyone will be able to find many that they like. I love that it can be opened flat for easy reading. There are beautiful colored pictures of the dishes.
For those cooks and readers that like to sit down and read cookbooks, this one is perfect. Keep some sticky notes handy to mark the recipes you want to try. This will make a great Christmas gift for so many different people.
I highly recommend this wonderful cookbook. It was a joy to read and sift through the many delicious recipes. If you have a cookbook collection, especially with some Amish cookbooks, do not miss this one. I rate it a 5 out of 5 stars. A copy was provided by the publisher, but these are my honest words.

Wanda E. Brunsteter’s Amish Friends Outdoor Cookbook: Over 250 Recipes Proving Outdoor Cooking Is Much More Than a Hot Dog on a Stick! Brought back fond memories of my family’s once a year cookout. We all gathered at my aunt and uncle’s home. They would have a large bonfire. There were hot dogs and s’mores along with other the other goodies the different families bought. I looked forward to it every year.
When you hear the word cookout the first food that comes to our minds is a hot dog but there is so much more you can cook. This book has over 250 recipes. There are several sections in this cookbook: stick, foil packet, cast iron, grill and pie iron. There are not only recipes in this must have book, there are also hints and advice. This is a very usable book; the spine lays flat and there are beautiful illustrations.
Thank you NetGalley for providing a review copy of this book.
This cookbook is great for outdoorsy people or those going on a camping trip for ideas on what to cook. I found it very interesting and gave me a bunch of different options for when we go camping or just have the fire pit going in the backyard. We have sticks and pie irons but have only ever roasted marshmallows or made hand pies. The different pizzas sound delicious and we will be trying the Grilled Barbeque Pizza this summer! Campfire donuts also sounds really delicious. There are so many recipes to try and so many look delicious. I was so impressed with this cookbook that I'll be buying a copy for my collection.
My mother and I are cookbook friends and huge friends of the Amish cookbooks. This book was perfect. As expected from an Amish cookbook, the book is full of comfort and simplicity and of course absolutely delicious recipes. This book is all about enjoying cooking outdoors with family and friends. The photography in this cookbook is stunning and adds to the beauty of the book. The book is divided into sections by how things are cooked like foil packet, cast iron, grill and more. We found some fun recipes that we have tried that are already favorites like the Strawberry-Cream Cheese Smores and Pizza Mountain Pies. There are over 250 recipes and we want to try them all. Your going to love this book. We can’t wait to share.

Another great cookbook to add to your collection. Great recipes and awesome pictures and I even tried one of the recipes. Simple ingredients but well worth it. Pick up your copy today.
WOWWW This is such a BEAUTIFUL cookbook! It is packed full of recipes many of which I had never heard of. And because we are looking at Amish recipes I am finding so many that are with such wholesome, simple ingredients, but sound so delicious. How wonderful would it be to be reading a book by Wanda and then turn around and accompany it with some of these Amish recipes?! So many to choose from in this book, and the pictures in there and sayings are just gorgeous. Can a cookbook, be a coffee table book or "on display" in the kitchen book?! I think this one can be!!!
I am an avid collector of cookbooks, there is something incredibly comforting about them. I especially enjoy when they contain suggestive photographs that add a positive vibe to the recipes. In this collection of outdoor recipes, Wanda E. Brunstetter presents us with a large quantity of simple recipes to make an outdoor grilling party or picnic interesting. The recipes rely heavily on pre-made products (ie. Cake mixes, doughs, salad dressings, etc) and are more helpful hints on how to work with these ingredients more so than actual recipes. Regardless, if you are a fan of cookbooks and/or anything Amish, this book would work for you.
Full of beautiful pictures, tasty recipes, and wonderful Bible verses, this cookbook would be an excellent addition to any shelf.
I especially liked that they were designed for outdoor cooking, and included categories such as "cooking on a stick," and recipes like campfire s'mores (a classic), stuffed French toast, and fire-roasted pickle wraps. And pie. There was pie.
If you love cooking outdoors, you will definitely want to get this beautiful book by Wanda E. Brunstetter. Amish cooks share their delicious recipes for enjoying outdoor cooking,
This beautiful book is another in the series of Amish Friends Cookbooks.
Beautiful photography of the foods and a lay-flat binding make help make this an easy book to use. It is divided by sections for ways to cook using a stick, pie iron, foil packet, and cast iron over an open fire or grill.
There is also a section of advice for packing a cooler, building your fire, and many more ideas to help you enjoy outdoor cooking.
I highly recommend this beautiful cookbook to add to your collection, I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

really liked it
Wanda E. Brunstetter brings a new Amish Friends Cookbook to add to the collection that has compiled over the past years. This cookbook featuring meals and desserts for outdoor cooking holds over 250 recipes that can be cooked over a fire or on a grill. I received a two-segment portion of the cookbook along with the introduction and index from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my personal opinion and reaction to the material.
It appears to be a beautiful book that many families would be glad to add to the tools of their homes, cottages and campers. (RV's)
It has Amish country photographs and scripture offerings which add beauty to the book. Cooking on a stick and cooking in a pie iron are the two interesting sections I was able to look through. Each recipe submission identifies the name and location of the Amish contributor.
Each section has a list of recipe titles with the page number where the ingredients and process details are found. There are definitely recipes here including variations of s'mores that I would enjoy trying at a family gathering. Other sections include cooking in foil packets, cooking in cast-iron, kettles, and Dutch ovens. There are even recipes for marinades and sauces.
I rate this cookbook a 4.2, only because I received a small portion of the contents to review.
Hello! It was a bit difficult to give a recommendation on this lovely cookbook when all I received was a sample of it. I do LOVE & CHERISH my other owned Amish cookbooks of yours though and I'm sure the same would be said for this one as well! From.what I could read of the index and first bit of it, these OUTDOOR recipes look SCRUMPTIOUS to ANYONES palate and a super easy delight to prepare! I would be happy to read more of this title and make a much MORE THOROUGH review! Thank you for this small but fun glimpse!

Wanda E. Brunstetter's Amish Friends Outdoor Cookbook is a wonderful well written 5 star Cookbook.
I received a complimentary Sample ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
This is pretty basic stuff, I don’t think you really need a cookbook to teach you how to make any of these recipes. All of the instructions are basically just “throw ingredients in pot. Close pot. Wait.”
I love a good cookbook! Wanda Brunstetter has more than just a cookbook. This one not only has recipes, but beautiful pictures and interesting stories. The recipes can easily be adapted to cook over a campfire or inside on a stove.
Many thanks to the author, Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. My opinions are my own.
I enjoyed the cast iron section of this SAMPLE cookbook that I reviewed. Really nice and colorful pictures and simple and tasty recipes are in this book. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received a sample of the book. I was most impressed with the section that talks about the cookware you use when cooking outdoors and how you care for these products so they do not rust. There is also a wide assortment of recipes that are categorized by cooking method. For example, recipes are provided for individuals who are cooking over a campfire with a stick. This book is very visual and has recipes even vegetarians would appreciate! I look forward to receiving a finished copy of the book.
Another great cookbook from Wanda. I enjoyed reading this sample book. I am looking forward to trying these recipes in this book.
