Though the gambit is over, the stakes couldn’t be higher in this action packed follow-up to Thieves’ Gambit. Despite his betrayal, Devroe continues to pursue Ross, but she learned her lesson and holds her heart closer while still suffering from trust issues. Ross and Devroe both now work for the Organization, but when a dissenter tries to gain control Ross and Devroe will be pitted against each other once again, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Family loyalties run deep, and friends will have to choose sides. At the end, the winning team will seize control and eliminate the other. With team Count being challenged by team Baron, anything goes in this fast-paced adventure around the world.

THOUGHTS: The second book feels faster because readers already understand the high stakes world of thieving. With unpredictable twists, readers looking for a quick and crazy adventure will devour this one. Highly recommended for YA collections where mystery and adventure books are popular.

Having enjoyed the first book, Thieves Gambit, in this series I was excited to read Heist Royale. It did not disppoint. The story is very fast-paced as the characters travel the world in another competition. Very fun to read!!

It's rare for a sequel to grip me just as much as a first book, but this one absolutely did! Heist Royale was just as fun and unpredictable as the first book. The only downside for me was the one-sided hate as the love interest tries to win the main character back after a betrayal, but that's a personal preference and wasn't a surprise at all given the ending of the first book. I would've liked a little bit more romance, but the writing was as wonderful as I'd hoped.

3.75 stars Lewis goes right into the action, which can be a bit confusing if you haven't read the first book in a while. The Casino scene is one of the book's best spots, and I felt it was a bit rushed with the meeting of Heart. I would love to see more with Heart and our main characters in a spin-off, possibly.

Rosalyn Quest and crew are back. This time, the players are caught between two separate feuds—Count and Baron are fighting for control and Ross’ mother and Devroe’s mother are fighting over old grudges. And all the while, the Gambit players are left fighting with their wits for their lives.

It's been six months since the end of the Gambit. When Ross finds herself at the center of a power struggle within the Organization, she sees her chance to change her fortunes. As a new deadly Gambit develops for control of the criminal underworld, Ross strikes a risky deal to guarantee protection for herself and her family.

In this final clash, Ross will square off against a ruthless opponent who will stop at nothing to seize power, and in the opponent's corner will be not only Devroe but his mother, who wants to destroy the Quests at any cost.

The new Gambit takes Ross and her crew from Antarctica to Monte Carlo and beyond. Loyalties will be tested, backs stabbed, hearts broken. May the best thief win.

I thought it was a great conclusion to the story that began in Thieves' Gambit. I was drawn into the stories of the characters and the adventures that they were on. Definitely recommend!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. This was another great read by Kayvion Lewis. I got sucked into the first book in this series and the 2nd one grabbed my attention as well. There were definitely more twists and turns in this one that were unexpected.

This book was a solid follow up to the first. The relationships have gained some depth, which I thought would be challenging when they're in such a cutthroat business. This was a lot of fun.

This book was so easily devoured. I had read the first book earlier in December and just finished this one at the end of the month. That’s a testament to how fast paced it was. I enjoyed the young adult mystery thriller. Definitely gave me similar vibes to other books of the same genre which I loved. Couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to see what more the author might have coming soon.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was looking forward to this. But it didn't deliver.

Ross Quest is working her required time with the organization and fending off a flirtatious Devroe. A member of the organization named Baron kidnaps her and tells her of his plan to replace Count as leader of the organization. She takes him at his word and tries to steal a tiara set for him, a long with her friends. When things go wrong, the organization decides to hold another Gambit, pitting Count against Baron and making the others choose one team or the other. Ross's mother joins Count's team with her, trying to make up for deceiving her at the previous Gambit.

This book feels like it was written in a hurry. If you haven't read the first book, you would be lost because there is no explanation of who the characters are and how they are related. The plot feels recycled from the first book. The plot does get better as the book continues, but it never feels well-thought out. It's an okay book, but that is a disappointment after such a good first book.

Thanks to Netgalley for the advance copy of this book.

Dnf’ed the first one, gave this one a chance and Dnf’ed as well. The writing style was a bit immature for me but I’m sure it’s good for young teenagers.

Heist Royale is the second book in the series and while the first one was enjoyable, I'm not sure if I can finish this one. Ross our FMC just turned 18 and while I teach 17 & 18 year olds everyday this girl was written like she was 12. She has so many temper tanturms and horrible decision making because she was mad and/or felt slighted. So far even the heists do not have my attention and feels repetitive from the first book. I know this is YA book and I read a lot of YA due to teaching that age group but I just can't with this book. Very sad to say this is going to be DNF or me.

This was a super quick, easy, fun read, however I didn’t love it as much as I did with the first book! This one just didn’t seem like it had enough going on throughout the whole book & just wasn’t as addicting as the first book. I will say, I did like how book 2 pretty much picked up right away from where book 1 ended and continued the story pretty much from the very first chapter.

If you like the Inheritance Games series, The Naturals series & any other high stakes games with teenagers then this is the series for you!! This is definitely very YA, but honestly it didn’t bother me in the slightest! I really enjoyed this series as a whole & I would recommend everyone to read, especially if you’re wanting something that isn’t too complicated, it can be read super quick and it has a great story that will keep you wanting to know what’s going to happen next!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC!

This is the sequel to Thieves Gambit, which was an ARC that I read last year and really enjoyed. I love all heist novels, and this series is a really good one. Despite being YA, the characters don’t seem too young to be doing all these crazy heists because of their upbringing, although it is a little weird that the adults in the novel choose kids to steal money for them.

The heists themselves were entertaining, especially the one that took place in what was essentially a very fancy casino. That was the best part of the entire book, and I think that a potential adaptation might be very interesting to physically see them.

The only thing I didn’t really like was the characters. I didn’t feel an attachment to them, even though this is the second book I’ve read about them. I think that there could have been more development of some of the supporting characters.

I still think that this is a pretty good series, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for found family, heists, and plenty of betrayals.

This book is a rare treasure: a sequel that outshines its predecessor.

Seriously. This book is phenomenal. The characters get an upgrade, there's even more action, and the dystopian world-building comes into sharp focus. And not without a sense of humor.

"'Irredeemable' is much more us."

Everything to enjoy here. Can't wait for my students to get this one!

Thank you to the publisher, Penguin Teen Canada, and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Six months after the Gambit, Ross is working for the Organization, pulling heists with none other than Devroe as her partner, all too aware of the threat to her family now hanging over her head after his betrayal. When a power struggle begins in the Organization, Ross sees an opportunity to ensure her family’s safety, and she makes a deal as a new, even riskier Gambit begins. But this time, her opponent is far more deadly, and both Devroe and his mother, who aims to destroy the Quests no matter what are on opposing side.

This sequel to Thieves’ Gambit was very high on my TBR this year, especially after the completely crazy ending, so I was excited to get an ARC for this.

Plot wise, this was similar to the first book, a series of heists all part of a bigger competition, but the stakes were much higher this time as it was literally all their lives on the line. The major difference that I found was that though the heists were a major part of the story and all quite interesting, the bigger plotline centered around the battle for power in the Organization and the alliances and relationships between the various characters. Apart from the mission in Monte Carlo, I felt the other two were rather rushed, similar to the first book where much of the planning happened off page.

That aside, I found it extremely easy to slip back into this story and world as the story was still so fresh in my mind even after over a year’s time. However, for those who haven’t read the book recently, it might be a bit difficult as this book didn’t provide much in the way of a refresher on everything that happened.

This was such an action packed adventure! I believe the first book in this series has been optioned for a movie, and if they decide to do the second too, this would be perfect on screen! It was fast paced and a thrilling read that I finished in a single sitting.

Ross and Devroe both had really good arcs. I also loved that so many familiar faces returned for this sequel along with some new ones. However, I found Devroe’s attitude to be kind of annoying, just expecting Ross to forget his betrayal because he didn’t use his wish to kill the Quests, never mind that he still has that wish.

The ending wasn’t what I expected at all! There was some foreshadowing, but those last minute twists were a complete shock. This sequel wrapped things up pretty neatly, so it doesn’t seem like any more books might be forthcoming, but I would certainly love to read sequels or spin offs set in this world.

Overall, Heist Royale was quite a wild ride and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this series for fans of the genre!

This sequel was such a fun ride! Ross Quest is back with even higher stakes, pulling off heists from glittering casinos to icy Antarctica while navigating betrayals, power struggles, and complicated friendships. I loved the action-packed heist sequences and seeing Ross grow as a character, especially as she started figuring out how to be a better friend.

That said, the romance fell flat for me. I wasn’t rooting for Ross and Devroe, so the big romantic moments didn’t hit as hard as the thrilling heist scenes. Overall, it’s a solid read for anyone who loves YA heist stories and fast-paced action. If there’s more to this series, I’ll definitely be checking it out!

Six months after the Gambit, Ross Quest continues to work with the threat of her family’s execution hanging over her head. There is also a power struggle within the Organization she has been tied to. Unsure of where to put her trust, she risks everything in a new deadly Gambit to secure her family’s safety while fending off dangerous foes. From Monte Carlo’s glittering casinos to Antarctica’s icy terrain, Ross must outwit her rivals in a high-stakes battle where loyalties crumble, hearts break, and only the best thief will survive.

After the first book left me disappointed, I wasn’t sure I would continue the series. However, I enjoyed book two far more than I did book one. There are complicated heists and “evil” villains to go up against. It was a lot of fun when that was the focus. I also enjoyed seeing Ross finally figure out how to be a friend, though at times it did feel as though she was let off pretty easily when it came to making amends for where she went wrong.

For me, the story fell flat with the romance. I was not onboard with Ross and Devroe, which meant his grand gesture at the end meant nothing to me. I was not rooting for them to resolve their differences. I just wanted the story to get back to the heists.

Overall, it was a fun read. It wasn’t an immediate favorite, but I would recommend it to readers looking for a YA heist story.

The second book in the series continued with the same breezy fun of the first book. While the stakes seemed high it never seemed like the main characters were ever truly in danger, which made the action sequences somewhat less thrilling this time around. But this book does well to further develop the core friendships that really makes the book worth reading.
