I love Eric Dowdle jigsaw puzzles, so think this would also be a cool coloring book. It's hard to evaluate a coloring book online, but I'd consider buying it if I liked to color and saw it in a store.
Thanks to Quarto Publishing and NetGalley for providing an advance review copy of this book.
A very nice coloring book. Great images of beaches. Not for beginners but delightful for a more advanced coloring addict.
This coloring book was just as beautifully drawn as the other book in the series about national parks. I love the intricate shapes throughout. It makes the pages feel both relaxing and challenging.
The art in this coloring book is absolutely gorgeous and has me itching to book a beach vacation! It was cool having the full color art piece next to the color-in-able page for some inspiration while also letting you use your creativity. The book included little snippets of information about the places depicted in the scenes, which I appreciated. I think I liked the zoomed in, smaller scenes a bit better than the landscape/cityscape style scenes, because you could be a bit more creative with it, especially with the patterns that were included in some of the elements.
This book is perfect for budding artists or to use as a mindfulness activity! It would also be great as a memory prompt or making a bucket list of places to visit. Each page is full of details to color and tells interesting facts about the location. It will take a long time to color each page so it is better suited for teenage or adult use. I like that the original painting is included to give hints of which colors to use. I also like that you can use colored pencils, markers, or gel pens to color to your heart's content. I have visited nine of the beaches featured in the book and can't wait to start coloring!
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This is a lovely coloring book featuring beautiful beaches. With notes about these amazing places, you learn about the beautiful place you are coloring.
I wasn’t familiar with Eric Dowdle’s art, but I like colorful folk art and I love to color, so I was delighted to receive an electronic review copy of this coloring book. This book features iconic imagery of famous beaches and coastal towns (think tourist destinations, not peaceful nature imagery). I counted 52 line art pages to color, many with the full-color reference art on the facing page so you can see how the artist originally colored the image. I love the artist’s style and learning a little bit about the various locations. Some of the images brought back fond memories of places I have visited, and some made me long to travel to new places.
I recommend this book for adults or older teens who enjoy coloring, like folk art, and have an interest in travel. The coloring pages are fairly complex and will be challenging if you don’t already have some experience with adult coloring books.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and Walter Foster Publishing for providing me with an eARC through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.
SO PRETTY!!! Really gorgeous and original art style. Not seen anything like it in adult coloring. Just enough detail to really shut my brain off and relax. Definitely not for Bold & Easy coloring fans, but not a tremendous challenge either.
Another great colouring book from Eric Dowdle. I always appreciate the inclusion of a beautiful inspiration image of the location and think it really conveys the atmosphere of each particular location. The colouring images are intricately detailed and I really like the inclusion of key facts about each place.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
What a beautiful colouring book with exceptional artwork that anyone who likes colouring would thoroughly enjoy. As other reviewers have said this is definitely aimed at the adult market due to the intricacies of the patterns displayed.
As someone who enjoys colouring, but prefers a tablet screen, I would also suggest an online/pdf version (I would pay to download this!) People could then either print patterns at home or use technology to colour!
Excellent colouring book, will definitely be looking for once published!
Perfect for those who love travel and coloring! Eric Dowdle is famous for his folk-art style and now, many of those beautiful pictures are available as a coloring page. These are ideal for those who appreciate a lot of detail. There are 40 pictures from various beaches around the world. The original picture is provided in color, for those who enjoy a reference. I do love that he captures people enjoying everyday moments in these watery scenes. A few of the locations provide an extra page or two for coloring, but most are a singular picture.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

Colorists aged 13 and up will be captivated by the full-page, colored works of art depicting the various locations featured in the collection. Each scene is full of life and intricately detailed. It's all about the details in this beach-inspired collection.
This collection also provides colorists with the opportunity to learn more about each of the locations the artist drew inspiration from. Beautiful and intricate. I loved the colored examples of each location and the informative blurbs. Some of the line work is a little heavy but adds to the charm of the art. This is a welcome addition for any colorists. Adding to wishlist.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved looking through this coloring book! I love how it offers a colored version of the picture along with some facts about the destination.
I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to review this coloring book. I love the amount of detail and thought that went into this coloring book. It was full of detail and some facts about the area being able to only look at this and not sink a coloring pencil was a little disappointing, but I definitely be buying the hard copy of this book.
Thank you again for the opportunity.
Eric Dowdle Coloring Book: Beautiful Beaches is a beautiful collection of beaches. I cannot wait to buy the coloring book and color the pictures.
Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC.
The drawings are absolutely beautiful, but they were a bit complicated for my tastes. Personally, when I want a beach drawing to colour, I'd prefer it without people, (which this had), but other than that, the drawings were gorgeous!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
This a beautifully drawn coloring book by Eric Dowdle. Each picture has you touring the beaches and towns of beautiful places like Aruba, Key West, and St. Maarten to name a few. I enjoyed seeing and learning about each place featured in this book. It's a wonderful book for adults and young teens.
This coloring book is very cute. The original paintings are gorgeous and very detailed. Next to them is the blank version to color. Because the designs are so intricate this is definitely a coloring book for an older audience. Accompaning each picture and chosen Beautiful Beach are a few sentences of information about the location. This book will be a delight to anyone who likes to color, whether they are familiar with the artist or not.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
What a beautiful, yet really refreshing colouring book. The designs are original, detailed and truly charming. There are some lovely scenes, and a variety of interesting characters to colour. Would have preferred a hard copy to read and review properly, as the illustrations are stunning! I like that you can follow the guide, and copy their colouring suggestions, or completely do your own thing.
