A lovely book with a pleasant layout. Unfortunately I ran out of time to finish it before it expired, but I enjoyed what I read.
It is always rewarding to live under God and know that we are beloved by Him. It will helps us to enter into God's loving presence that we can't get from any other human's love in the world.
Know You Are Beloved is an absolutely beautiful reminder of God’s love and devotion to his followers. Reverend Chris Lee uses his many gifts and talents to create a guide for living in peace with God, peace with community and peace with oneself. Slowing down and breathing are repeated throughout the book, reminding the reader of the importance of living in the moment, living with one another and living in God’s love.
Know You are Beloved is a love story between God the Creator and those God created, and Jesus and his followers. It speaks of how very much God loves us, even in our frailty. And it talks about how God is the very epitome of love.
The author uses many of the teachings of the Desert Fathers who moved to the desert to pursue their total devotion to God. This is where the Christian monastic tradition was born. The desert was where thousands of people fled to live lives where God was King of their whole beings. They responded to God's love and sought to let go of everything else, anything that could distract them. They knew there was more of God to be discovered. They hungered and thirsted for God.
The author hopes that at some point in our lives we have experienced the overwhelming love that God has for us. Reverend Lee makes reference to the various ways in which we experience God and God's love. Sometimes it happens when we read the Bible. Other times we just bump into God's love. It's like all of a sudden our heart expands and we feel surprised by love while walking down the street. Or he states that at times of pain and trial, We are aware of the fact that God is, in fact, with us.
In quoting Reverend Lee, I am taken by the very awe of God's love. And he made me profoundly aware of it. Also in this book he touched on fasting. While I have fasted in the past, I really liked his method of fasting and I intend to incorporate it. So my huge takeaway from this book is that God loves me with an unadulterated, unending and everlasting love. that said, I can affirm my complete and devoted love for God. I gave this book five stars. I would have given it 10 if they were available.
