My littles loved looking at the pictures during our multiple sittings reading and discussing this book. Space and dinosaurs are favorites in our household. I love how there are multiple font sizes on each page. My daughter benefitted with the glossary as some of the bigger words were unknown to her. The dinosaur's name cards with descriptions were a perfect add on at the end of the story to learn a little bit about the types. My youngest enjoyed the pictures and saying "roar" every chance he could.
This would be such a fun read aloud for a dinosaur unit! Full of true facts as well as silly dinosaurs and their imaginations, this book was really fun for my family to read.
This is a Children's book I read to my twin boys. This is a cute and funny Non-Fiction Children's book. I love all the facts about Dinosaurs. My boys also really enjoyed this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
Super silly book that teaches kids all about dinosaurs!
My son LOVED the silly dinosaurs that kept "popping up and getting in the way!".
Very informative with just the right amount of fun!
Perfect for any dino-loving kids!
This was such a cute picture book that I will be purchasing a copy for myself as well as for my library. The children will love it as much as I did!
Well this was just wonderful!
One of the best children's books I have seen for a while! The illustrations are sweet and comic-like with lots of great color, and the in-story dialogue makes what is a science book something even more. It is just darling, and I can see this being a popular book to pick up over and over, but also one that would be a joy to read out loud!
Unfortunately this book just wasn’t well received by my child nor I. Which surprised me, as my child typically really enjoys silly parts in books - and loves dinosaurs. I did like that it was educational though.
I read this with my dinosaur-and-space-obssessed 4 year old, and he loves it! He's asked to read it every night for the past week now. I've replaced a few words here and there to make it more understandable for his age, but other than that he follows along well and is entertained with Austro (the Austorapter) and his shenanigans. This is one of those books that breaks the fourth wall, and that is a new concept for him, so I've had to explain it and use drastically different voices for the narrator and the dinosaurs to help him grasp the concept, but it's a fun read! The pictures are good quality and fun, the text flows nicely and is entertaining to read. However, I hoped that it would've leaned more into the fiction rather than the non-fiction. This might be mismarketed as a fiction book because the main storyline is telling us about the theory of fossils on the moon as a repercussion of the asteroid hitting earth 66 million years ago.

This children’s picture book is a lot of fun! It’s perfect for the young kiddo who loves dinosaurs. I especially like how the narrator has a voice and the dinos seem to be interacting with/talking to the reader. The pictures are colorful and there’s a good variety of dinosaurs. My biggest gripe is the theory of dinosaur fossils on the moon largely reads as fact, and I think it would be confusing to the young reader to picture dinosaurs as astronauts.
This was a cute little story. I really enjoyed reading it to my son. I would recommend it to others, especially teachers of young children and parents of young children. My son enjoyed it.
I enjoyed learning with this book for things I didn't know and for a dinosaur lover who knows about the different time periods with different dinosaurs this is a good book. It is pretty chaotic and heard to read as a storybook so I would recommend it for people who have knowledge of dinosaurs or to not focus on the timelines and kind of skim that for younger readers if reading as a storybook. It would be GREAT for an introduction to the time periods of dinosaurs!
I've read A LOT of picture books about dinosaurs, and this was one of my very favorites! Dinosaurs in Space starts out with some non-fiction facts about dinosaurs, and our narrating dinosaur takes over to add some silly fun into this adorable book. I loved the accurate science that was added in to an overall silly dino book.
Thanks to NetGalley, Todd Sturgell, and SourceBooks Kids for the chance to read & review!
My four year old loved this book. He thought it was so funny. This book was both funny and educational which I really enjoy. It helped keep my kiddo engaged! The illustrations are unique and engaging. This book was a fun spin on the typical dinosaur story! Definitely a book I recommend for anyone who had a dinosaur loving kiddo in their life!
You need to read this book! It starts off like it’s purely nonfiction, but then it quickly veers into silly territory. It’s hilarious! Stargell perfectly walks the line between interesting information and crazy characters that show up and keep messing up the flow of the book. I know my kids would find this hysterically funny, and I think yours will, too. Also, there’s some hidden Jurassic Park Easter eggs in here, which I always appreciate, since it’s one of the greatest movies ever made. Todd’s a clever boy. 🤣
Look for this in September!
Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Explore for an advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Every dinosaur lover - young and old - will love this book. I had never considered that dinosaur pieces may have landed in outer space after the "big boom", but this book goes in depth explaining the possibility. Not only does it have an adorable story line with dinosaurs and some wonderful illustrations, but it also includes a section explaining the phenomenon (scientifically) and a glossary and other fun facts are also included. So, not only do you get a super cute story, but you learn something too. I would recommend it to everyone.
I'm a children's librarian, so I've read...a lot of dinosaur books.
A lot.
And I have to say, it's honestly pretty difficult to find a memorable dinosaur book, but this one was wonderful! It was silly but also snuck in some learning, and I think it'd be wonderful for many ages (for instance, with the younger kiddos, you could simply read through the "plot" of the book, but with older kids, you could also read about the specifics/details that are included).
All in all, I'm excited to add this one to our collection come fall so I can recommend it to some of our big dino-fans!
