Another masterpiece by Laura Thalassa. This series is how I found her and I am continuously impressed by everything of hers I read
Dnf unfortunately! Loved the first one but just couldn’t get into this one. I own the physical so I may try again!
This sequel, it was everything I needed after the first book!! I mean we still have SO MUCH mystery, there’s little breadcrumbs but omg!! I adore Laura’s writing, her books draw me in and keep me on the edge of my seat, gripping my attention until it’s finished and I’m left staring at the wall with a WTF look on my face (IN THE BEST WAY, of course!!)
This picks up immediately after Bewitched, and, as with the first book, is full of delicious drama, fast paced action and fantastic spice!! This doesn’t mean Memnom and Selene are immediately lovers, trust each other or (in Selene’s case) like each other.
I love that we get so much of the backstory and info on the past in this book, we finally get some answers and they broke my heart, multiple times. But my goodness was the world building immaculate!!!!!! I was entranced when reading this, so much so I even ignored the puppy (sorry Alfie!!)
Selene is still an epically strong FMC who’s a force of nature!!!!!! I absolutely adored seeing her come into her own a bit more, whilst dealing with all the issues arising from the end of Bewitched and negotiating the rocky path that is her relationship with Memnon!!!! Memnon is still super morally dark, will k1ll for her, luscious and fabulous!!!! Even if he’s been a TERRIBLE guy I absolutely am head over heels in love with him!!!!
Overall, this book and series is fundamental proof of why I love Romantasy and why Laura is an absolute favourite author of mine!!
I wasn't aware this was a second installing of the series. I bought the first book but haven't gotten too it yet. Will probably change this review later, but for now I'll put it at 3 stars to be in the middle.
Wow, what an ending! Bespelled, the sequel to Bewitched, truly escalates the stakes and deepens the characters' journeys in a way I didn’t see coming. Selene and Memnon's powers are on full display, and their evolution is compelling to witness. I felt a bit of sympathy for Kane; he’s a good guy who genuinely cares for Selene, but it’s clear she’s not available.
Thalassa’s writing shines as we dive deeper into Selene’s powers and memories, revealing the tragic history between her and Memnon, including the truth about Roxiana’s sacrifice. Memnon’s transition from revenge to seeking forgiveness is beautifully portrayed as he strives to regain Selene's trust after his initial betrayal.
The mystery surrounding supernatural murders adds tension, especially with the formidable Fortuna family introduced as potential adversaries. The dynamic between Selene and Memnon shifts from enemies to a poignant second chance romance, with plenty of groveling from Memnon, who desperately tries to make amends for his past actions.
I loved the Touch Her and I’ll Unalive You trope in this book, with Memnon’s possessiveness adding a delicious layer to the plot. Selene’s character development is notable; she grows stronger in her magic and stands up for herself against overwhelming odds.
Beware, though—there’s a major cliffhanger that will leave you eager for the next installment! I’m giving Bespelled a solid 4.5 stars and can’t wait to dive into more of Laura Thalassa’s works. This series is a must-read for fans of paranormal romance, featuring sassy witches, overbearing sorcerers, and plenty of magic. Highly recommended!
Everything Laura Thalassa does is gold. The last book left me so eager for the next one - and this did not disappoint. We got some answers, and some more questions. It was fun, it was sexy, the pacing was excellent and it was truly delightful.
Although this one felt a tad haphazard to start it was worth the read and I have to say that this one was better than book one!! I can't wait for the next one.
While this was better than book 1, it didn’t deliver quite as much as I was hoping.
Memnon was a bit too arrogant for my taste, he needed to be toned down or more understanding for me to like his character.
Thank you to Bloom Books for providing me with an arc.
I requested this one thinking I was gonna love book 1 as I have liked the other Laura Thalassa books I have read but I ended up dnfing book 1. I may try to give it a second try so I can come back and at least start Bespelled but currently I am not able to read this one because I dnfed book 1. I gave up on book 1 because the magic was confusing very fast and the characters didn’t suck me in like they did for Rhapsodic.
First of all, I really liked the recap at the start of the book! I wish all sequels did that!
I really enjoyed the growth between the characters in this one, the animosity turning to respect, friendship and then more, especially with Selene's memories returned.
The shock at the end left me wanting more!
Laura Thalassa is one of my favorite authors and I’m never going to have an unbiased review, because I love everything she writes, so no shock then that I absolutely loved this, I adored every second, I can’t wait for the next and I need physical copies now
I will be so honest with you, when I first picked this up I DNF’d it. I returned for some reason, however, and I’m so glad I did.
Don’t take this novel too seriously. It’s a good paranormal romance that does have some plot holes and things that don’t make sense. I had a grand old time though and I thought it did a great job of building on the world and the story from the first novel.
This was just a fun, paranormal time with witches, werewolves, sorcerers, and evil-doers.
"Bespelled" by Laura Thalassa is a spellbinding mix of romance and magic, where enchantment and passion collide. Thalassa’s characters are complex and intriguing, with a love story that unfolds amidst a world of dark curses and powerful spells. The book’s enchanting atmosphere and captivating plot make it a must-read for fans of paranormal romance.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. This was a great witchy romance with a whole heaped spoon of spice. I really enjoyed it and found it a fast-paced, satisfying read. 4/5
I loved this one!!! It was a perfect sequel that really tied this together. I’m hoping there’s another one. Memnon really started redeem himself in this one and it made it much easier to root for them.
Holy moly that ending!! I was not expecting that. I am just constantly amazed at how POWERFUL both Memnon and Selene are. I also felt bad for Kane. He really likes Selene and is a good guy. She’s just not available my dude. Also Nero is just the best familiar!! He’s so sassy and I love him. Just an oversized kitty.
I loved the first book, but I definitely enjoyed this one more as Selene has come into her powers and memory more. And with that, we learn things that happened in the ancient past, including how Roxiana died saving Memnon and what really happened that fateful day; Memnon did not any of this which makes him feel so remorseful about all his actions in the first book. So through a forged bond, in which he must follow Selene’s every command, he attempts to prove himself to her and gain back her trust and forgiveness to want to embark on the life journey he wants for them. His motives switch from revenge to forgiveness.
They also have to tackle the supernatural murders, and we find out more about the Fortuna family and even meet them . They would definitely be a formidable adversary if our main couple wasn’t who they are, but even then…
Thank you Bloom Books for my copy, I really loved it!
After reading the first in this series I could not wait to get my hands on this. It did not disappoint. I love the back story ( I can't resist a good mystery) and the enemies to lovers theme is on point. Menmon is such a sexy, growly grumpy love interest and I cannot get enough. I love that Selene has come into her own now and is the bad ass female she always had the potential to be. I am eagerly awaiting book three!

I can't even begin to tell you how amazing it was to be back into the magically delicious world of Memnon and Selene. The spice was absolutely spicing in this one! Memnon is just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🥵🥵
Bespelled is the second book in the Bewitched series! It starts off right where we ended with book one, Bewitched. Selene gets her memories back and remembers her past life with Memnon. Her character growth is phenomenal. She is incredibly resilient, and I absolutely loved seeing her accept and embrace her past. She is an absolute badass.
Memnon shows absolute dominance with his power in this book, especially when it comes to his queen being in danger. We also see a softer side to Memnon. There is just something about seeing badass obsessive/possessive men being softies that just does something to me. 🥴 The love between Selene and Memnon is unmatched.
THAT CLIFF HANGER! My adrenaline was through the roof! I cannot fricken wait to see what book 3 has in store. Also, I got to add.. I would absolutely love receiving daggers as a gift. *Hint, hint husband* 😏

I wish I could put into words how much I enjoyed this story! Book one was spectacular and this one was no different!
After the cliffhanger from Bewitched, I was anxious and excited to start Bespelled, primarily because of how the FMC, Selene, was treated not only by the other witches but also by Memnon, the sorcerer whom she had awakened, who is supposed to be her soulmate. At least that is what Memnon keeps telling her, even though he’s acting nothing like a soulmate, trying to frame her for murders and also get revenge for what she supposedly did to him years ago. She is in jail initially in Bespelled due to what he did in the first book.
Bewitched was definitely a true Enemies to Lovers, but the second book ends up being a Second Chance Romance where Selene and Memnon rekindle their love for one another after Selene starts having past memories of her life with him. Memnon also gets off his high horse and finally realizes that Selene never betrayed him and will do a lot of groveling in this book. A LOT OF GROVELING because he definitely needed to grovel to Selene for what he did to her. I really questioned his character and love for Selene in Bewitched, but he’s made up for it in Bespelled.
Let’s not forget to mention the Touch Her and I’ll Unalive You trope, which I always enjoy reading in Fantasy/Romance storylines. Memnon is not a sorcerer you want to tick off when Selene is in danger, plus he can be a tad jealous/possessive of her. Just ask Kane, the werewolf who tries everything to get with Selene in this book, but he’s derailed several times, not only due to Memnon but Selene letting him know she’s with Memnon. Here’s hoping Kane gets his own HEA with someone else so that he can leave Selene alone.
Selene’s character development grew in this book, especially when it came to her witch powers and how she handled herself in certain situations. She did need assistance sometimes because the poor girl was put in some awful situations (five against one, etc.), but she managed her own. Selene learns what’s happening to the witches at her Academy, and she has a target on her back after she finds out the truth.
Fair warning: there is a cliffhanger again at the end of Bespelled, and it’s a big one, too. I give this book 4.5 stars and anxiously wait for the next book in the series. I’m thankful, though, that while I wait for the next book in the series, I can check out Laura Thalassa’s backlist, which I’ve already started her The Four Horsemen series. Laura Thalassa has definitely been added to my list of favorite PNR/Fantasy Authors now.
This series is definitely recommended if you enjoy reading Paranormal/Fantasy Romances. This series has a sassy witch who deals with an overbearing sorcerer who’s her past love and tries to figure out what enemies are after her at her Academy.
