This is what my verdict stated about this when published under its first name, and I see no reason to change my thoughts now:-

A reasonable fist at the hardest genre to really get right – horror for the very young. Only one or two of these seemed really memorable ("Clap Clap" the prime instance), but they all have a little something or other, and all are over in moments so you can quickly move on to another. Some are certainly on the naffer side, leaving too much hanging or wimping out, so three and a half stars is about the best I can give.

Very good collection that brings you back to the time when you read scary stories and then ended up in your parents bed because you were to afraid of the dark. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for a free e-arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Creepy Stories is a short collection of spooky stories perfect for sleepovers or campfire stories for children. The collection is fun, spooky, creepy, and just enough of each theme to entertain and satisfy but not scare its extended audience. There are illustrations through the book and I enjoyed that a few of the stories were left a little open for imagination for the reader/audience to conclude themselves.

This was a cute read for spooky season. Fun little stories that would be perfect for around the campfire. Fun.

This was a fun short story collection for the middle grade reader. There were some interesting stories in the collection.

This book is a collection of 16 short stories for young readers. Some tales are funny, some are alittle spooky and a few are neither.
I found some of these tales entertaining and should keep young reader’s attention.

Thank you NetGalley and Kelly Anne McIellan for the ARC

I read this with a middle school student. This book's compilation of short, standalone scary stories appealed to me. Also, to make them more manageable for younger listeners, they were all rather brief. The only genuine complaint I have is that the stories ended on a pleasant note every once in a while, which helped alleviate the creeps. In a way that was not creepy, a few of them ended too abruptly. Most of them had a lot of fantastic stories with spooky parts. While some stories ended tragically, others left just the perfect amount of suspense about the possibility of a sequel.

In general, this is an excellent choice for young readers looking for their first scary story collection; the level of spookiness is not too high, and several of the stories have satisfying conclusions. However, experienced readers of scary stories may find some of the stories to be disappointing.

Thank you Netgalley for this free copy

This is such a great collection of creepy stories for young readers. They're not as scary as adult horror, but they're realistic enough you can imagine they're real. Maybe they are! Ghosts, alienns, banshees, this would be a great book to share one creepy story at a time. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

creepy indeed!! really loved reading these before bed at night to get in the mood of halloween season. short and sweet. nothing too crazy but still something thrilling if you're a scaredy cat like me.

Creepy Stories was absolutely adorable. It is the perfect entry for students and young children to get into urban legends and scary stories. It has classic tropes and new tales that I have never read before. It reminded me of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark but for a slightly younger audience. I highly recommend it!

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.

An age appropriate compilation of scary stories that won't scare the kids too much. A nice mix of classics like The Hook and new The Underpants (which was rather amusing.) . Some stories are a bit corny (see The Underpants), but that's kind of make scary stories fun.

3.5 stars rounded up. This was a cute, short collection of appropriately creepy (and often silly) stories for kids. It's the kind of book I would've loved when I was in elementary school, especially if the teacher read it aloud.

I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.

A perfect collection of "scary" stories for the younger crowd. Fun for the Halloween season without the nightmares.

I liked that this book was a collection of different spooky stories that all stood alone. They were all quite short too for ease of telling to young people. The only thing that really brought the rating down is sometimes the stories came to a positive conclusion which took the spook out. Some also ended too unfinished in a non-creepy fashion. The majority of the stories were great and had lots of creepy elements. Some came to a sad ending, while others were left in the right amount of uncertainty that it could happen again.

Overall this is a good pick for a first time collection of spooky stories for young people to read where the spook level isn’t too high, and some have good endings, but for a seasoned spooky reader, you may be left feeling a bit disappointed by some of the stories.

Thank you so much to Callisto Kids Publishing and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

A collection of short gripping and eerie campfire tales, this book covers an array of different topics each one as creepy and spooky as the previous. A really great Halloween read with children who will find them both fun and creepy.

This was a really fun collection, I liked the variety of stories told, I liked how simple that they were, they certainly gripped you in, having you hanging onto it wanting to know what was happening, they had plot twists in some of them, some were not what you thought, some were even funny. I really enjoyed this collection of short stories.

If you love anything creepy, your kids or if kids within your life love anything creepy this is a perfect read. You’ll be so hooked and gripped by the stories, they are great for around eight upwards unless you child themselves can cope with creepy stories whilst younger. They will stay with you some of these stories as they are strange, creepy and eerie.

A great book for the spooky holiday season, there’s no order to them so you can pick and choose which story suits you whilst reading which I love that element of it. It also had a few illustration per story, I think some big full pages of illustration for each story would have added a lot more to it, but the little ones were still great.

Cute stories that I will be reading to my class during the fall season. Perfect for kids that want something scary story related but not going to give them nightmares, but fun enough for the more daring to still enjoy!
