When I found out that Linda Reilly would be having a fourth Grilled Cheese Mystery, I immediately requested this book from Net Galley so I could read an advance copy and then review it.

I absolutely loved the first 3 mysteries in this series, and I knew that I would love the new chapter in Carly Hale’s adventures. I was not mistaken.

The book flowed smoothly from the beginning, and it gripped my attention all the way through. It was just so nice to get reacquainted with the characters that I had befriended before, and to catch up on their lives. There are also new loveable characters, and then there is one you love to hate. Linda really does know how to describe a meanie!

One of the things I love about Linda’s writing is that she intertwines kindness in her story. This is because she is a very kind person herself, and it does show. I was delighted that she visited my book club via Zoom last year. She writes about what she knows, and her descriptions are fun and vivid. I am so glad to read anything she writes.

I tried to guess whodunnit, but it was impossible for me…twists and turns provided tense moments, and when you thought you knew who the murderer was, it turns out it was someone else entirely. I was delighted with all the wonderful news we learn about at the end.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves cozy mysteries, and also encourage reading the previous 3 books.

I loved the first three books in this series and this one was great as well.
I always love the creative setting of the restaurant that makes specialty grilled cheese. It leaves me hungry for one and also the perfect setting for a cozy mystery as well.
I look forward to the next in this series!

After numerous run-ins with murderers, Carly Hale has decided to hang up her amateur sleuthing hat and focus on her successful grilled cheese restaurant. Unfortunately, when one of her regulars, a rude older woman, is murdered and her delivery guy is suspected of the crime, Carly finds herself once working to solve a crime connected to her restaurant. The mystery is engaging and the murderer came as a surprise.

I was wondering if there would be a fourth book in this series, I figured at this point there wouldn't be cause of the time that has passed since the third so imagine my joy seeing this on NetGalley! I do think that for a 33 year old that the main cause after acts and skews a little older but it doesn't bug me in this book. I do like all the characters here , her friends, partner, and workers at her restaurant. the mystery was interesting too. I didn't guess who or why so that was kind of nice. I think this was a great addition to the series and I hope we get a little more of Havarti in the nextbook. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for for my honest opinion.

This series is one of my most favorite cozy mysteries series, so I was extremely excited to read the 4th book. This book did not disappoint! I

Carly is back with not just her delicious sounding sandwiches but with another murder. Carly is warned by the Chief of Police to stay out of investigation, but Carly doesn't listen which is good for us readers. The victim of the murder was a woman that most seemed to hate so the suspect list was pretty long. I even started to hate her from what I was reading about her. I'm not saying she deserved to be murdered but II can see how she was not well liked.

I had a feeling of who was the murder and I will admit that I was wrong. I love the fact that I was wrong because it was fun to find out who the murderer was and have that "what?!" moment. It made me think back and wonder how I didn't guess.

This book also introduced a couple of new characters and I truly enjoyed getting to know them. I do wish that there was more of Gina in this book, I love Carly's friendship with her. and enjoyed the moments that they were together in this book. I also enjoy Carly's relationship with her boyfriend, Ari. I do wonder how frustrating it must be for Ari with all the close calls that Carly has had because of her investigating. Carly is just such an enjoyable character and I pretty much enjoy her interactions with the other characters. I can see how people open up to her.

Again, I love this series but I have to say that so far this book is my favorite in the series. So far! It kept my interest from the start to end. I can't wait for the next one in this series!

"Brie Careful What You Wish For (Grilled Cheese Mysteries #4)" by Linda Reilly is another jump into this grilled cheese filled cozy mystery series. Have to say that this one was missing a bit of the new grilled cheese creation process that the previous books have. It had a couple of paragraphs about a grilled cheese with raspberry jam or preserves but it was brought up as often or detailed.

The mystery was pretty typical for this series and a good cozy mystery. I think I've started picking up on the patterns this series follows. With that being said, I still wasn't totally sure who did it. So, it was a "Ha! I knew it!" moment.

After three books in Linda Reilly's A Grilled Cheese Mystery series, Carly Hale has finally understood that putting herself in danger while trying to help solve a murder affects not only herself, but everyone who loves her. That includes her coworkers at the grilled cheese restaurant she owns, her close friends and her mother and her boyfriend, all of whom implore her to be more careful. The police chief has also forbidden her to participate in the investigation, even though she has obtained valuable information for him in the past. But in Brie Careful What You Wish For, she knows she can't just stand by and let Ross, her young delivery man, be accused of killing one of her customers, especially since Carly has a knack for getting people to talk to her.

This is a well-written, fun-to-read, light cozy mystery where Carly and the supporting characters seem real and mostly relatable. Except for the murder victim, of course, who was vehemently disliked by almost everyone who knew her. That makes for multiple suspects and motives and keeps the plot interesting. There is also more than one romance to tick that necessary box. It's a quick read, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I don't know if there will be more books in the series, but I would love to find out whether Carly finds a way to solve the next mystery without any danger (there's not a lot in this book) and whether she and her boyfriend can make a go of it, despite Carly's intermittent reluctance.

This is a cozy series that I always enjoy (I LOVE a grilled cheese), but not one that sticks with me between the books. I generally struggle to remember what has happened and who the characters are, but once I am reminded, I like them all. Carly’s restaurant sounds fantastic, and it’s a good setting for a cozy. Her hot-cold relationship with the local police makes for some drama, if not efficient crime solving. Interestingly, I pegged the killer from the very beginning of the book. It was still enjoyable to read because I didn’t know why or the details of how everything fit together.

Comfort. Like the author, grilled cheese is my comfort food, so that phrase ran through my mind frequently as I sat down to type out my reaction to the book. I eventually settled on the word comfortable to characterize how it made me feel, murder or no murder. I felt comfortable with Carly and those about her. It was comforting to see the genuine caring she showed to those in her world as well as how much love and support she received back from them. Her friends and loved ones were also willing to make her occasionally feel uncomfortable because they cared. She'd already faced danger more than once and no one wanted that to happen again, most definitely not her mom or boyfriend Ari. That gave her the uncomfortable awareness of how much her actions impacted others. Whereas frequent readers of cozy mysteries are accustomed to seeing the rush of excitement as the amateur sleuths risk their lives to solve a crime or help others, this book shares the deep turmoil such actions can create in those who care about them. It has an effect on relationships of all types, too. Carly is both blessed and cursed to be a carer and we see the personal side of that aspect of a character.

In other words, we have a story here of very real people, people we'd probably feel we know. Not just random characters on a page. That is a strength of Reilly's writing, creating characters and a situation we find believable and can relate to. Past lives impact current events, family secrets intrude, and pressures of their virtual real lives all play roles. You're going to like these people and root for Carly. On a lighter note, you're also going to wish you could head over to Carly's grilled cheese place for a sandwich. You'd be wondering what marvelous creation Grant and the others have come up with to tantalize your taste buds this time. You'll see ol' friends and, hey, even the police chief grabbing a bite to eat. This time, however, he's there both for the food and telling Carly to butt out as well as for his own personal reasons. Carly and her boyfriend Ari are all for that one, of course, tho' Carly frequently feels like a child sent to the principal's office when on the receiving end of one of his lectures about being safe.He cares, too, but this time he's there because Carly's employee, Ross, is the prime suspect in the murder of an elderly woman. Thus begins the mystery.

I won't detail the plot, see the blurb, but will note that the suspect list is long. Seems the woman wasn't well liked and had potential enemies from decades ago. Ross was simply delivering food to her and no one can believe such a nice, likable young man capable of hurting anyone, let alone killing them. Maybe a family member? Some surprises turn up during that thread of investigation, that's for sure. Someone from her past? Seems she had quite the reputation as a home wrecker. But, seriously, how long can anyone hold a grudge? Will the investigative reporter be a help or hindrance? How will Carly, who always has the best intentions of staying safe, find herself in danger once again? What.... oh, enough teasers. I don't want to give away anything as it's more fun to work it out with Carly.

Bottom line, it's obvious I loved this book/series. My comfort series? Well, one of them. If nothing else, it gives me a great excuse to toast up a fresh grilled cheese sandwich. I can't wait to see what's in the future for all of them after that celebratory ending.
