This poetry collection feels like an early draft for a memoir-in-verse, capturing Mr. Rodriguez’s journey through childhood, love, body image struggles, and Hollywood life. He writes with openness and emotion, but many poems don’t stand alone well, though a few shine. His story would benefit from a cohesive narrative, similar to Jacqueline Woodson's *Brown Girl Dreaming*. The bilingual touches and unique style choices show his willingness to experiment, and while his poetry isn’t quite fully formed, there’s definite potential. His photography is also promising, especially the work with colour, and he juggles it all impressively alongside acting and his decor business.
In *Reborn*, Abraham Rodriguez, known for his work in film and television, presents a captivating blend of poetry and photography that delves into themes of love, identity, and personal transformation.
This collection invites readers into a nostalgic and introspective journey, featuring verses in both English and Spanish that explore profound moments of change and self-discovery. Rodriguez's poetry is complemented by full-color photographs that enhance the vintage ambiance of the book, enriching the emotional depth of his reflections.
*Reborn* beautifully captures the essence of life's transformative experiences, offering a meditative exploration of cultural identity and the universal quest for belonging. Rodriguez's evocative language and visual storytelling create a captivating reading experience that resonates long after the final page.
Abraham Rodriguez's *Reborn* is a poignant testament to the power of artistry in expressing the complexities of human emotion and personal growth. This collection is a compelling read for anyone drawn to introspective literature that merges poetry with visual storytelling.
This book is perfect for people wanting to start reading poetry. It is simple and honest, raw and accessible.
It does contain subjects that may be triggering, so I'd encourage looking into that before picking this book up.
I loved how some poems had both an English and Spanish version. I hope the author considers creating a bilingual poetry collection in the future, or experimenting more with both languages.
Reborn is a collection of poems written mainly in English and sometimes also in Spanish.
The poems are accompanied by evocative images depicting their situations.
The main themes are religion (often seen as a series of constraints and impositions, including on who and how one should be); identity, including gender and sexual identity; some situations of abuse; and some relationships. The poems are written in free verse and vary in length. they are moving and engaging, allowing you to empathize with the author who shows a very intimate part of himself in these poems.
I do not share the life experiences that are recounted but I still felt the emotions conveyed.
The photos accompanying the poems impressed me a lot because they show small details of everyday life, often very zoomed in, reflecting the verses' tendency to analyze certain moments of life in depth.
Man, this was an emotional rollecoaster. My heart broke while reading this and this was the first time I've ever read anything by Abraham.
Thank you netgalley for this ARC and I will definitely be checking over this author in the future
This is a collection of modern poetry in which Rodriguez shares his thoughts and experiences through free verses.
I must be honest, it's not my favorite style of poetry but the topics were deep and you could perceive the author's pain from beginning to end.
He once said that the best advice he ever received was "Be how you feel. Feel what you feel". I'm glad he got to express himself, to be so vulnerable through this collection and make something positive out of the darkness.
'I realized a memory doesn't have to be a bad thing.'
The photographs included are quite nice and go with the poems. While I think the author has been through a terrible experience, as poetry this doesn’t entirely work for me, and he, once again, sounds like every other modern poet.
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read Reborn! I really enjoyed reading this poetry collection and liked the added element of photography throughout the book! This was a great book and I highly recommend!
this was very powerful and you could feel the hurt and pain the author went through on every single page. I feel like the author put his entire soul on the pages of this book of poetry and i don’t feel it is fair to his truth to rate if any lower than 5 stars.
A beautiful collection of poetry that will resonate with many. Easy to navigate and appreciate the complexities of life of this person who is speaking to the reader. It covers many topics some which may be triggering. A collection many would enjoy.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me this ARC. I like it so much! 💗
This book of poems tells us a little about the not-so-easy life that actor Abraham Rodriguez has had. I honestly didn't think the poems were going to be so revealing, but wow, I really liked them a lot.
This was some of the best LGBTQ+ poetry I've read in a while
It was beautiful and heartbreaking and in the end comforting
