Cute story and illustrations. It reminded me a bit of the book "Red." Would be a nice book for an early elementary aged student.
This is a cute book and reinforces shapes for young readers. Who is the best person for a job? Is it someone who is perfect, or someone who has the heart to do a great job? Line isn't perfect but he is still able to help.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
This a cute book that shows us you don’t need to be perfect to get a job done. It was very quirky and full of nice illustrations
Line Leads the Way by Laura Purdie Salas
I was drawn to this book by it’s title and cute and light cover illustrations. Inside I was not disappointed. The characters are cute and the text is written in a variety of ways to engage and amuse. I can imagine using this in my classroom for a visual art lesson on, line and then a movement activity for drama/dance. There would also be great links to 2D math and character development with a powerful message. This is a very versatile and engaging read for learning and entertainment alike.
Preorder from your favourite book seller today as it is expected to be released on Aug. 1, 2024.

A beautifully illustrated book that is about more than just shapes. Line Leads the Way not only introduces the different shapes and what makes them unique, it’s a story of gaining confidence and learning kindness throughout life’s circumstances.
This book was SO CUTE!!! I was originally drawn to this book because of the cover and the title. Before reading, I assumed this book was just about learning the different shapes, but it’s about so much more! It’s a story of self worth and knowing that no one is perfect even if they think they are (all while teaching the different shapes and what they do). I love that you’re getting multiple lessons in one!
The illustrations are fantastic - I especially love the color palette chosen for this book. It’s easy on the eyes which makes it easier for my toddler to pay attention.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this - I am extremely pleased with this children’s book! The release date is set for August 2024.
This was fantastic. I was first drawn in by the bright, playful illustrations and personification of the shapes. The storyline was both clever and heartwarming. I was chuckling at some of the shape’s travel and their boastful explanations. Then I was feeling sympathy and affection for humble, simple Line. The ending message was even more profound than I expected. This is a great little book to teach self worth, humility and kindness. I appreciate its intolerance of bullying and its validation of being good enough as you are. This is a book I would absolutely buy for my children and gift to others. It’s a fun way to teach shapes and social-emotional themes, and I won’t mind having to read it over and over. Thank you to NetGalley and Capstone Editions for my digital copy. Publication day is set for August 1st.
