This is a good book. The two main characters are Jax and Luke. They are in college, Jax is a junior and Luke is a senior. Jax is communication student. Luke is a premed student and a hockey player. There is an instant attraction. For one of her classes Jax has to do a project with Luke. She has to put together a social media for the hockey team. They start dating. They fall in love.

This was a DNF for me. But I hope others loved it. It was just not my vibe and hard for me to get into.

3.5 ⭐️

I liked this story but I did find it flat at times. The last 30% was my favourite.

If you love sunshine/grump hockey romance set in college. I highly recommend this book.

I haven’t read a book that has given me this much ick while reading it in a long time. I usually try to keep my ARC reviews serious, but I don’t think I’ll ever forgive the author for forcing me to read lines such as:

- “With a sexy exhale”
- “I stare down Jax like she’s a puck in a shoot-out. A puck I’d like to fuck, this is.”
- “Yup, I’m totally pucked!”
- “Son-of-a-Stanley-Cup!”

This book feels like an AI was asked to write a poorly written romance with two unlikeable characters with a bunch of hockey and Gen Z slang thrown into the mix.

If you love hockey and love romance, this one is for you. The main characters - Jax and Luke - were quite likeable and I found myself rooting for them throughout the book.

If you like lots of spice, this book may not hold your interest.

This book was a cute, fast read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
HEA: yes
POV: dual 1st person POV
spice: several open-door spicy scenes
TWs: death of a parent (cancer, recounted), grief, bullying
standalone: book 2 in Lessons in Love series
final thoughts: Jax and Luke 🥰 this is my favorite Lesson in Love story so far and I thoroughly enjoyed both MCs. From their funny meetcute on page 1 to having no third act breakup their story was funny and sweet. I love a grumpy no relationships MMC falling hard and fast over the quirky “I’m looking for love” FMC. Watching Luke be so distracted by, excited for, possessive of, and encouraging of Jax had me swooning.
I’m looking forward to reading more from Tara September- her stories are quick and easy to read with lots of plot and plenty of spice

This read was an easy, quick and cute read. I enjoyed the sport romance and banter of the main characters. I also enjoyed the shenanigans of the hockey team and social media. So if you are a fan of hockey and romance, this one might be for you.

This is another great story from the series we see the last girl from the trio fall in love. For Jax to win a coveted communications internship she has to make hockey interesting again. Her major problem is Captain Luke or like his nickname Ice Man. I loved the story it is a funny, slow-burn romance, about growing up and finding love.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgalley

I’ve just started my journey into sports and ice hockey romance, and boy am I here for it. I love the curvy girl representation.
Watching Luke’s icy personality melt bit by bit with Jax bubbly and irresistible self.
If you want an easy, spicy ice hockey romance this is the book for you!

After my previous read I needed something light and this book gave me just that! It was an easy read and I really enjoyed it. There's just something about Ice hockey I guess, or is it the players?

The banter, the flirting, the chemistry between the characters. Like I said, it was an easy read and really enjoyable!

Hockey romances breathe life into me and I will never be able to get enough! This was an easy and fast read, taking place in college. I laughed, felt emotional, and needed to finish this in one setting. I’m going back to read the first two books in the series now!

Short and sweet 🩷

Jax is trying to win an internship for her communications degree and her assignment is the school’s hockey team. She’s initially excited until she finds her contact is Luke, the brooding team captain who wants nothing to do with her. Determined, Jax remains as professional as possible. It’s not her fault that in the process she falls for Luke.

This was definitely cheesy, but it was so cute that I didn’t even care! It was witty and delicious and I loved the chemistry between Luke and Jax!

A grumpy vs sunshine hockey romance, this is sure to fill that ache in your heart!

This was a quick and super cute read. I enjoyed that Jax the FMC was driven and didn't want to just drop everything for the MMC. Luke was supportive and watching the "Ice Man" thaw was an enjoyable ride. They were supportive of each other and the banter between them was humorous. Also, the fact that there is no third act break up was a huge bonus.

This was a great college hockey read.

Hot and Cold, by Tara September, was a great read. Luke is the campus hockey star and Jax is the communications major tasked with bringing more attention to the hockey team. This is a really fun college hockey romance! I loved Jax and Luke and I especially loved Luke's back story. This is my first book in the Lessons in Love series and I am looking forward to reading me in the series.

Thank you to the publisher, author, & NetGalley for sending gifting me an advanced copy of Hot and Cold!

Mein Leseerlebnis

Jax is trying to ace her PR project and earn an esteemed summer internship for her communications major. The organization she is assigned to, her college men's hockey team, as named the team captain Luke as the point of contact. Working together with some convincing on her part, the two become a dynamic team and create some ice-melting romance along the way.

2.5 stars
This was a short and mostly enjoyable read, especially for the first half of the book, which I found had a great balance of cuteness, humor and slow heat.
However, there were a few elements that prevented me from loving this book entirely. The writing itself felt a bit too juvenile for my taste. Despite this being an adult hockey romance with spicy scenes, there were some issues that cheapened the experience. First of all, apart from the two main characters, all the other ones were completely one-dimensional with absolutely no depth; this was especially visible in the ex-girlfriend scene, which was one of the cringiest things I have read in a while. It was unnecessary and made me dislike the FMC vividly as I felt like I was reading a bad fanfiction written by a teenager. I found this chapter especially jarring because I had not had this feeling in the first half.
The humor sometimes felt too forced, the MMC laughing out loud at a retort from the FMC that really wasn’t that funny or witty, and some phrases like the MMC’s use of “woman” didn’t feel natural at all.
Maybe if the book had been longer, things would have had time to develop more organically, but as it was, I was not really invested in their stories.

3.5 rounded down to 3. Fun book but not very emotionally deep. It was all very surface level between Jax and Luke. I liked the opposites attract trope and how driven Jax was, but there wasn't much meat to the story.

I loved the banter between Jax and Luke! It was so well written and fun. I devoured this book, it was the perfect length!

Very quick read as the characters quirks made it interesting. Both Luke and Jax have baggage that they work through. Tara wrote these two with humor. Which is always my favorite of any romance novel!

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I am offering my own thoughts and review.
