This book seemed like it would be something that would be interesting to read.
I ended up skimming most of this book just to finish it. I found it a bit repetitive, dull and boring.
The premise of this book was interesting but the book itself felt a bit flat for me.

I have no issues with books that push the envelope, but this one was so boring. Its a mystery to me how this subject matter can be boring, but the author made it feel like this book was disjointed and plain boring.
The premise of this book piqued my interest because I love reading about scandalous, behind the scenes of fame and fortune. It read as a point by point account of memories of a cocktail waitress in Vegas who also starred on a reality show. Was it award winning writing? No. But it was short, sweet and interesting enough. It would likely have been more interesting if I was a little more familiar with the reality show featured.
“Just the tip” is a fantastic real-life story of a bottle server in Sin City, a.k.a. Las Vegas. Before reading this book, I didn’t know how fitting that nickname is for the city. Julia’s story will make you laugh, cry, and experience angry. I have been to Vegas many times but I feel like I will see the city, especially The Strip, in an entirely different way now. My eyes have definitely been opened.
This book was written in modern language, including curse words, but in a way that fits perfectly with the story. It’s an easy and interesting read that I found quite enjoyable.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own
It's a fun entertaining ride, which seems like a weird thing to write thinking of some of the situations, but it really is. Like a literary reality TV show. I have not seen Rehab, so I was unfamiliar with the author.

I skimmed, or read quickly through the bits that she kept repeating ( long legs, big boobs, very tall, etc). The stories that she wrote about what happened while she was on the job were entertaining enough. Not a master story teller, but wasn't a waste a time. A bit of fluff most of us enjoy now and then.
Just the tip was such a fun read with Julia spilling all of the tea from her time as a VIP bottle server in Vegas. A few tales had my jaw on the floor and laughing out loud. Christine does a great job of sharing her experiences as if you were catching up with a friend.
The cover and the topic seemed interesting, so I grabbed a complimentary copy of this from Netgalley.
I guess I was looking for something other than what this read is, and I ended up skimming the last half of the book. It seemed to need a good edit as well, and it just wasn't a book I enjoyed. (sorry!)
I voluntarily leave my review.
This is a very fast and easy read. I enjoyed the story and the author is likable. It is an eye opening behind the scenes story of the Las Vegas employee lifestyle. Thank you to Net Galley for letting me read and review this book.

Got this ARC from NetGalley. We go to Vegas a lot and I thought this book sounded interesting…but it really wasn’t. The majority of the book is actually about the TV show ‘Rehab.’ I had never seen the show and wasn’t really interested in it. Thanks to NetGalley & the publishers for this ARC.
I don't usually read a lot of memoirs, so I think that plays into my opinion on this one, but.... it just wasn't for me. Ms. Julia comes across as a bit self centered, vapid, and.... not as interesting to others as she is to herself, perhaps? I don't love knocking a book or an author, and I believe every book has a group of readers it will absolutely appeal to, but it just wasn't me, this time.
Damn. I expected a totally different book. I wanted to read about the actual job, not the reality show. I’ve never seen the show, but I have been to Rehab and was interested in reading a behind the scenes.
This book reads like a first draft. The writing is very “Look at me”, without a whole lot of editing involved. But, to leave it on a positive, it’s a short read.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
When I saw the cover and read the description for this, I was really excited! I like to learn about jobs that are vastly different than my own and the life experiences that come with them. I also thought this would be an exposé of the industry. A lot of time was spent talking about the TV show that Julia was on which I was wholly unfamiliar with. There was a very brief, and in my opinion, very rushed section near the end where she spilled a few interesting stories, but most of the time was spent on the show.
Ultimately, my main issue was the writing. I think the author should have either used a ghost writer or had a better editor, and should have had a sensitivity reader or two. If it wasn’t so short I likely would have DNF’d.

A behind the scenes memoir of a VIP cocktail server in Las Vegas.
I enjoy reading books about people with interesting jobs, so I thought I might like this. I did not realize the author had only been a cocktail server while simultaneously being featured on a reality show (which I had never heard of) about them, so she really never worked in the trenches at all. A lot of the book is about the show, which would be Ok if you had an interest in that…I did not.
The author either had no ghost writer or had a bad one. The prose is about as vapid as what one might expect. Unless you are looking for inside scoop about her show, skip this. Maybe someone will write a good tell all about the industry but this isn’t it.
