This was such a fun book to read! As a fan of watching reality dating tv shows this book brought a smile to my face and had me giggling. This was a perfect standalone and makes me want to read this authors other books!
I’ve been in quite a slump lately and My Royal Showmance grabbed me by the hair and yanked me out of it!
Anika is asked to be a production assistant for the filming of a reality tv show; the production company needs someone to spy on the director and look for misconduct. The night before filming starts, she meets a gorgeous guy at the bar and really dives deep with him. You can imagine her shock when she finds out on set the next day that he’s the lead of the show and she needs to fill in for one of the roles!
Shows like The Bachelor/Bachelorette, The Courtship, and Farmer Wants a Wife are such a guilty pleasure for me, and this book falls into a similar premise with a secondary underlying story about possible misconduct. I smiled every time the author made a reference or joke about these shows, keeping levity throughout the book. It was fun to see Anika slowly open her heart and Luca seemed like such a solid guy. I wouldn’t mind a side book of his bodyguard Hans though… there’s definitely a story there!
I appreciate that the book also shed some light on misconduct in the reality tv space. While I think it could have been slightly more intertwined into the full story, it was handled with taste.
Overall, My Royal Showmance was an enjoyable read. I love a book that actually evokes outward reactions from me!
This was such a fun read! I enjoyed it a bit more than Start Us Up and loved the connection between the characters. Anika and Luca/Reg were such an interesting match. As a fan of the bachelor franchise I loved the dating reality show trope. It’s clear how smitten they both are with each other even though the situation as a whole is wild. There are also more serious scenarios within the book and I think the author did a great job discussing sexual assault in a gentle manner. This can definitely be read as a stand alone!
This was a super fun read! Anika Fox is a PA. She is asked by her boss to go undercover on a reality show. In turn, her boss agrees that the production company would then bankroll Anika’s movie. What was supposed to be a sort of behind the scenes job takes a turn and puts her in the limelight.
I love a hero who falls hard and Luca the MMC definitely did. He’s chivalrous, thoughtful, and kind. Oh, and he’s a prince too of a small country in Europe. If you love a cinnamon roll hero- you’ll love him! Both MC’s are very likable and that’s another reason this kept me interested and hooked. A lot of the time I’ll like one character and not the other in a romance, but I really enjoyed these two from the get go. They had great chemistry. If you love reality dating shows…don’t skip this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
How sweet is this book!! All of the behind the scenes drama you could hope for on a reality dating tv show! This book gave heat, drama, laugh out loud moments and so much love and friendships. When Anika Fox is assigned to work back stage of a reality dating show she wanted to get in, gather some info, and get out. She didn’t expect to fall in love and find herself kidnapped in the back of a limo. Super fun read for the summer!
Why, when I hate watching reality TV, do I love to read about it? 🤷♀️ I really don't know.
Anika is sent to a Bachelor type TV show to investigate quietly a director accused of sexual misconduct. One small problem is that she met the star, the King Luca, the night before and now is immediately thrust into the spotlight to cover a last minute drop out. How can they pretend to be falling in love for this show?
I really liked Anika. She does things that I would never dare do in her position and she does it with such conviction and really stands up for the right, even at the cost of careers. Luca is an amazing King- doing something he would never normally do if he didn't have a Kingdom to worry about. I'm so glad we still get to see the 3 friends together - Anika, Ivy and Harper.
I saw a few things coming from a mile away and one really made my blood boil but I still liked to watch it play out.... All I can say is at the end is thank goodness for the King!
