What an incredibly creative way to help kids understand the parts of a story and the writing process! A lot of kids today are very visual thinkers and this helps them take story elements and see them - the story is a mountain and you have to travel through rising action towards the climax and then falling action to the final resolution. Bitsy goes through the writing process and has Boozle as her protagonist, teaching and writing as they go. A great glossary is included at the end.

This is an amazing novel! It breaks the 4th wall by including the reader on the process of how to write a story. I love the story mountain idea. If I taught primary grades, I would ABSOLUTELY use this in my classroom... in fact, I will probably use it anyway as it's a great review. I LOVE everything about this graphic novel. The characters are dynamic and hilarious. I would strongly recommend this graphic novel for any and all ELA classrooms.

Bitsy & Boozle Tell a Story!
Sara Goetter, Natalie Riess
Bitsy wants to tell a story. She has already chosen the main character a cranky old sorcerer. Boozle doesn’t talk much. Bitsy and Boozle climb Story Mountain where they learn how to tell a story.
This is a delightful book on how to tell a story. This is a chapter book, filled with hints and tips on how to write, develop, and tell a story. This book is both fun and educational. There is a glossary at the back of the book.
I love the way this book teaches our children how to tell a story. As we know there is a lot to learn about storytelling. You come up with an idea, develop it into a story, pick out your characters and develop them. This is such a great story.
