This is my first time reading about by the author Kimberly Brown and I enjoyed it. Courage To Love Again deals with some everyday issues that everyone faces and women in general. Mental health, weight gain, unable to have children. My heart went out to Pasha, and she is definitely a trooper. Pasha arrives home and finds all of her belongings outside; the locks have changed and her husband Raymond of five years divorcing her. With nowhere to go she calls for a car service and heads to the nearest hotel. Once at the hotel she learns that all of credit cards have been turned off. Callum is such a sweetheart after taking Pasha to the hotel he learns that she has no money to stay at the hotel. He offers to pay for her a room, Pasha is reluctant, but she eventually accepts his kind offer. Callum finds himself attracted to Pasha and wants to spend time with her. Loved how Callum and Pasha were to getting to know each other. Callum is there for Pasha every step of the way with her during her recovery. Callum and Pasha were awesome together. I would recommend to other reading Courage To Love Again that whatever you’re going thru that with the right people on your side you can recovery and get on with your live.
The author did a good job with the issue of weight gain, mental abuse, mental health and the issue with not being able to have children.
I received an ARC via NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
Courage to love again is a beautiful story of a woman experiencing the lowest moment of her life in front of a stranger, and his offer of kindness would prove to be everything neither of them knew they needed. I loved both Callum and Pasha. Her resilience, his patience—it was so beautiful to witness their love blossom as Pasha manages to piece her life back together. This is a slow-burn romance because Pasha had to reconcile something in herself and life before she was able to let Callum into her heart, but once that burn gets going, it's amazing, and it truly felt deserved. Everything about this story touched my heart, and I truly enjoyed every minute of reading it.
Thank you to Black Odyssey Media and NetGalley for an ARC copy!
“I’m bruised...slightly broken.”
“So am I.”
“What are two bruised, slightly broken people supposed to do together?”
“Heal.”
If you want to read real romance, read Kimberly Brown. Period.
She broke my heart the first time with I Could Fall In Love and now for the second time with Courage to Love Again. I recommend that first book wherever I get the chance, and now this one will be joining the ranks because it was simply brilliant.
Kimberly's writing is just magical and transports you directly into the scene. You feel as if you're really there, a friend of the characters, experiencing whatever they are. You're crying with them, laughing with them, loving with them.
I swear, I went through all stages of grief and happiness during this book, Miss Brown put me on an emotional rollercoaster and I can only thank her for it.
The start of the book had me cursing Raymond's name for how he treated Pasha, he really went all out, insulting her appearance, her mental health, throwing her out of the house just so he could move his mistress in...would I be a bad person if I said I wish Callum did hurt him?
My heart broke for her while she tried to put herself back together, wouldn't accept any help, then gradually did put trust in her friends and Callum and managed to find healing. It was a hard road for her, and I'm glad she had so many people in her circle who were ready to help her through it.
And Callum...could he be any more perfect? The answer is no, he's amazing. He patiently waited for Pasha to get better mentally, to be single legally, and for her to be ready to take things beyond friendship. He never forced her into anything, said a bad word to her or made her feel less than. He always built her up from their very first meeting, that's what a real man does.
I adored their romance okay, a d o r e d. There's not a single thing I had an issue with or that I felt like should be added. It was just *chefs kiss*.
This is also partially a Cristian read, but not in a "classic" sense because there is some steam. But the characters do pray to God, and trust in Him to help them through hard times. Pasha and her friends also believe Callum is an angel sent just for her and yup, I believe it too. He really is that good.
There are some heavier topics covered inside, so do check the warnings before starting, your mental health is just as important as Pasha's!
Lastly, huge congratulations to Kimberly Brown on her first trad pub book!!! I'm so happy for her, even more readers will have a chance to read her incredible books now. And trust me guys, whichever one you start with, you will be blown away.
*Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
This book, Courage to Love Again by Kimberly Brown, as the author indicates, dwells mostly on infertility, loss, weight issues, and spousal abuse. 28-year-old Pasha faces all these misfortunes, which leaves her broken and depressed when her husband Raymond verbally abuses her, offering no support even after these losses. He does not stop there but eventually throws her out of their matrimonial home and replaces her with a new wife who is also pregnant with his child. God, in his mercies, sends an angel in Pasha's way when she needs him most, in the name of Callum, but she does not know whether to accept the help or shut him out. She is broken, but she realizes that whether she likes it or not, she has to tread on this journey ahead of her, for if anything, she is alive, and that is the first blessing that she needs to count. To know the journey she decided to take, readers will find it out in this touching book, Courage to Love Again by Kimberly Brown.
This book makes us realize that in this world that we live in, there are those individuals with dark hearts whose only goal is to make life unbearable for the vulnerable. And this doesn't imply that the vulnerable are to blame or something is off about them; the dark-hearted are the problem. It also makes us realize that in a world with such dark-hearted people, angels also exist. The greatest task is to know when they show up so as not to miss them. And that is why I am impressed by this book.
The book is great, but I was not very comfortable with the degree of profanity in it.
I rate this book, Courage to Love Again, by Kimberly Brown, 4 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to those readers who have been through infertility, loss, weight issues, and spousal abuse. It will help them realize that as long as they are alive, life can still offer them a second chance, and it will also help them decide to seek help if need be. Additionally, it will help them take a look around and realize that maybe there is an angel who has been sent to help them out, if only they look closer.
Kimberly Brown has done it again! I'm a divorcee, so this book took me through so many emotions. I felt as if I was right there walking along with Pasha. My belongings weren't thrown out, but I was locked out of my home. I love how the author took her time with developing the characters; no rush job. This book covered not just the love between a couple, but the love and support of family and friends. This is a must read! I will definitely be recommending this book to my life coaching friends.
Just finished reading The Courage to Love Again and my my my. This is a story of healing , the power to move on and forgive those, so that you can live. Callum was everything Pasha needed. But I also loved how Pasha made sure she was everything she needed and the power of therapy and good friendships can heal. I lied how Callum ensured he always supported Pasha. This was a good time for me
This is a beautifully written book about love and heartache pain and loss. Going from being broken to becoming unconditionally loved. This many triggers, however you will enjoy it. Trust
"Courage to Love Again" by Kimberly Brown is a touching story of resilience and hope. Brown's heartfelt writing brings to life the journey of overcoming past hurts to find love anew. With relatable characters and a heartfelt narrative, this book is sure to warm the hearts of readers.
Courage to Love made me laugh and made me cry, but most importantly, it made me feel seen. Pasha is being put through the ringer! She is struggling with her depression and grieving the loss of her parents and son when her husband decides to move his pregnant mistress in and kick her out of their home.
Pasha has pushed many people away due to her husband and the many losses she feels, leaving her feeling alone and like she has to handle everything without the support and love of her community. I love how Kimberly Brown allows Pasha to work on herself with the support of her friends rather than relying solely on Callum (the MMC).
Callum was everything that Pasha deserved and more. He was patient and gave Pasha the space and time she needed to heal and become healthy. I loved seeing Callum apply pressure in the calmest way.
This book is a great reminder that we all deserve love, whether from a partner or friend, no matter what we are going through. Even when we feel alone, we might have someone in our corner if only we'd turn around. I received this as an E-ARC from Netgalley. Thank you, Black Odyssey Media!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved everything about this book. Pasha’s journey wasn’t easy but it was worth it. She found all of the happiness and love that Raymond tried to strip from her.
What can I say about Callum? He was everything that Pasha needed and more. The support and kindness that he showed her before he even got to know her was incredible. Their relationship developed in a way that made me smile on more than one occasion. When Pasha finally let him in, I was so happy for them both.
There is a special place in 🔥🔥 for Raymond.

I loooved this read so much. Pasha’s story captured me from the beginning. In so many ways I related to her from the mental health struggles to finding yourself after going through traumatic experiences. Callum was every bit of my man, my man, my man material. The patience and genuine spirit he possessed was something special. This was my first read by the author but it will not be my last.
I absolutely loved this book!
I will say there are some content warnings in this one which the author does disclose at the beginning of the book. When we first meet Pasha, the FMC, she is broken and dealing with depression after suffering multiple miscarriages and delivering a stillborn child and losing both of her parents. She is depressed and has contemplated suicide but is going through therapy to try and heal but she is not herself and her husband is an absolute jerk. The beginning of the book reminded me of a Tyler Perry movie (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) with her husband kicking her out of the house and moving his new woman in. Her driver Callum, the MMC, sees all of this and is basically an angel in disguise to help her out with getting a hotel room since her husband cancelled her credit cards and she has no money of her own as she didn't have a job.
After they meet, Callum cannot get her off his mind because he is drawn to her, after going through so much, Pasha finally agrees to take some help from her friend while she gets herself back on her feet. Callum gave her his number in case she needed it but she never used it.
After Pasha gets jobs to make some money and afford her own place, Callum runs into her again and offers to help her move and be her friend as he wants to be a part of her life any way she will take him.
You knew where the story was going to end up but I enjoyed the ride watching it get there. Callum never forced Pasha to do anything she didn't want to do and took his time being her friend and being there for her how she would let him even though everyone around them just knew there was chemistry there and that they would eventually get together. Everything seemed to fall into place naturally and at her own speed. The way in which Ms. Brown wrote these characters it's like you were there with them and only wanted the best for them. The supporting cast of characters was good as well and I loved how they all were there and seemed genuinely supportive of Pasha and all she went through and continued to struggle with at times and helped her to find the courage to love again.
I liked the pacing, the flow, the character development and of course the HEA in more ways than one. Overall, It was a great, well written story that I gladly give 5 stars to and would recommend to fans of romance books that are not triggered by any of the content warnings.
Thank you to the publisher Black Odyssey Media and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Posha is blindsided when her husband, Raymond, kicks her out with no warning. After multiple miscarriages & a stillbirth Raymond had an affair and got his mistress pregnant, then decides to marry her. Callum is the driver who came to pick up Posha and her belongings and witnesses just how bad Raymond treated her. After taking Posha to a hotel that discovered Raymond cut her off financially so Callum pays for her room for 2 weeks and gives her money to get by with no strings attached. Pure kindness.
Months pass and Posha has been living with her best friend who also gave her a job and helped her to start rebuilding her life. She signed a lease for an apartment and while shopping for house necessities she bumps into Callum. He offers to help her move. That's when he realizes that he wants to be a part of her life, even if only through friendship.
When they run into each other at the farmers market they end up spending the day together. When Raymond happens to see them he walks up to Posha and starts insulting her and Callum defends her. Little by little she begins to let her guard down.
This was such a beautiful story about healing after an abusive relationship and the struggles that come with learning to love yourself and allowing yourself to be loved.
immediately after the first chapter I disliked Raymond. An absolute and complete narcissist. Pasha deserved so much better than how she was treated.
- By the second chapter I was getting Diary Of A Mad Black Woman vibes and I certainly wasn't mad about that (one of my favorite movies & I think we can all relate to the rage Helen felt towards Charles).
- The way Callum handled Raymond in the second chapter is five stars in itself (loud applause)
- reading about Posha's losses, one after another, only to find out her husband was cheating on her and kicks her out had me in tears.
-Following her journey as she healed was amazing and the ending couldn't have been more perfect!
5 stars, 2 spice
What a beautiful story! The author brought us on a journey that literally took us through the depths of pain, trauma and grief and lead us to love healing and life! I love that the story isn’t solely about love but about healing and redemption. I loved seeing Pasha recover from the worst and literally gaining more than what she lost! Loved seeing her ex reap what he had sown. Loved seeing her be loved well by Callum! Loved how her best friends never gave up on her! Bravo author!!
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I must admit, my initial reaction was this would be a novel version of a T.P. movie. I'm so glad I continued to read. This story had so many layers. The author addressed some important issues that are not often talked about. The main character Pasha represents so many women. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a story about characters facing real issues. This book deals with grief, abuse, and mental health issues. Thank you NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for the opportunity to read this book.
Pasha and Callum meet under some of the worst circumstances. Pasha, who has been battling depression and grief calls a car after her husband throws her out and flaunts his pregnant mistress in her face. The driver of said car? Callum. Who keeps most people at arm's length, but can't being affected by Pasha's situation, and her quiet strength in the midst of so much chaos.
This book was so achingly beautiful. What a triumphant love story. Pasha walked through grief with all the humanness and beauty KB usually puts into her characters. Her unwillingness to let others be there for her was a bit frustrating, but only because it was completely relatable. She persevered, and I loved the way she battled for her independence, but also learned that having something of your own doesn't mean you turn away love and support. Callum was such a gentle giant. Always ready to protect and defend, but knowing when it was time to fall back and wait. I loved his intuitiveness where Pasha was concerned and his insistence on making her feel safe. This was a beautiful story. I love the therapy mentions, and the friends who didn't quit. Callum's family was something amazing, and I love that he found one after his experience with his birth family.
I received this as an ARC from Netgalley. Thanks to Black Odyssey Media.
The first chapter of this book almost took me out of character. I know most of you have seen Diary of a Mad Black Woman so, y’all know exactly what I’m talkin’ about. Raymond put on an Oscar worthy performance because, he gave us his best Charles McCarter. Pasha has been going through it. She’s suffered multiple miscarriages, a still birth, and the death of her parents back to back all within a few years. So, her mental health is on shaky ground right now. Depression has set in, and she has no support from Raymond at all. After spending the day self-reflecting and trying to mentally prepare herself to be a wife to her selfish azz husband, Pasha comes home to find all of her belongings thrown out on the front yard and the locks have been changed. Raymond wastes no time informing her love don’t live here anymore for him and she gotta go. As if his verbal abuse wasn’t hurtful enough, Raymond gleefully informs Pasha he’s moved in his pregnant side chick turned fiancé and she’s now the queen bee of the Sinclaire household.
Callum is the owner of Elite Rides. A sick employee has him pulling double duty so they’re not short staffed. Imagine his surprised when he pulls up to his last ride of the night to find a distraught woman sitting in the middle of her front yard surrounded by trash bags and luggage. It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together to figure out what’s going on. When Pasha is unable to pay for a hotel room, Callum immediately steps up and offers to cover the charge. He leaves with a heavy heart because, the memory of the pretty lady with the sad eyes is now living rent free in his head. My heart just broke for Pasha. She was young when she married Raymond so, she had no idea she was saying I do to his representative. Pasha had to find out the hard way that she’d been married to a narcissist for 10 years. When she stopped being the perfect housewife, she was no longer useful to Raymond and he discarded her like trash without even blinking.
Courage To Love Again is a story of redemption. Pasha not only has to start her life completely over but, she has to rebuild relationships with her friends and family that Raymond alienated her from. This journey is not an easy one but, with therapy and the help of her good girlfriends, Pasha is able to navigate her grief and loss and come out on the other side with her mental health in a much better place. In the midst of Pasha’s healing journey, we get a budding love story between her and Callum. Everyone should be so lucky to have a Callum in their life. This man was loving, patient, kind, and he gave Pasha the peace she’s been missing for the last 10 years. Even when she constantly pushed back because she was afraid of getting her heart broken again, Callum was there patiently waiting until Pasha was ready to be loved the way she deserved. “I got you” and he did. Courage To Love Again was a good but, very intense read. This book touches on topics such as miscarriages, still birth, depression, and verbal abuse that may be triggering for some people. So, please be advised. Thank you to Black Odyssey Media and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Courage To Love Again was such a heart wrenching novel. My emotions went from anger, sadness, laughter, to cheerful all in one book.
Pasha is the sweetest herione but made choices that redirects her life's path. The author takes you on a deep dive into self esteem issues, mental health, and postpartum depression with the ultimate goal being true love and wellness.
Raymond was a character any reader would love to hate due to his arrogance and selfishness. Frankly, I couldn't see him with Pasha. Total opposites. She was too mild mannered.
Thankfully a suave ,chivalrous gentleman comes driving in an SUV to save the lovely damsel and not just for a day.
Readers will experience total engagement from page one till the words The End because I did.
I REALLY LOVED THIS!!!!
Honestly I loved all the way this book handled all the strong topics it touched on. I loved Pascha. I love her strength, and I appreciate how this book handled grief. Callum deserves all the praise too, his patience and his support when Pascha needed space.
The ending had me on the floor laughing. I recommend this book for Kennedy Ryan fans.
I got an e-arc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book had me in a choke hold, from the very first page I found myself drawn in. The distaine I felt for Raymond had me putting my Kindle down more than once. I felt so bad for Pasha; I mean how much pain could one person be forced to endure? The person who you pledged your life to, treated you like you were something on the bottom of his shoe!!! The life you carried in your body was taken away from you before you had a chance to fully love it. Pasha was in the mist of a storm. Then God saw fit to send her Callum. He was like a port in the storm. He gave Pasha shelter, protected her from the constant barrage of hurtful words aimed at her by Raymond. He offered her friendship and helped build her confidence and restored her faith in people. He showed her that everyone wasn't like Raymond and she was worthy of love and being loved. Pasha had a village, she just needed to allow them to love her. This book was everything that I have come to expect from Kimberly Brown!!!
