This book does a nice job filling a need. It may be easier to learn magic tricks from youtube, but some kids don't have access. This is also a good way to get kids excited about reading - books aren't just fictional stories. This is a type of book that we often have requests for and struggle to find good items to fill.

Thank you for the ARC. I purchased for my library.

As a parent, I absolutely love this book for educational reasons 👏🏼

First off, the topic of magic is always attractive to children, perfect for inspiring young learners to read and engaging both them and parents into the process.

The book starts off with the author’s first experience seeing magic, which I think many children will relate to. How can you forget that, right?

It covers basic magician terminology and has them take the “magicians oath,” which definitely gives them a sense of pride and ownership in maintaining the magician’s secret.

Then the book delves into 25 tricks with details on what the secret to the trick is, supplies needed (easy supplies from around the house), how to set up and perform for entertainment. There are some sketch-drawn images to help provide them a visual, but this isn’t a book full of images, which is why I do recommend this for ages 8+, depending on their reading level.

What I love about this is how it engages children to read and follow instructions, gives them a sense of ownership and pride, and gives them a way to connect with others through entertainment. What a great “trick” to get them inspired to learn!

I’m excited to share this with my 10YO so he can learn a few tricks to try out on the family. 🪄

Thanks to NetGalley, HarperCollins, and David Kwong for providing me with a complimentary ARC to review!

This was an excellent book full of great, fun magic tricks! Also I really like how there's simple instructions but the tricks aren't too easy. These tricks will definitely fool kids' parents!
