I am now very drawn to Rileigh Bishop especially as with each book I see how much darkness she has to endure. As always a very tense read.

Too Far Gone is book 6 in the Bishop Smokey Mountain Thriller's series by Lauren Street. It's a series that continues to get better and better as we learn more about the past of Rileigh Bishop. It's been 25 years since Rileigh's sister, Jillian disappeared, the night before her wedding. No one knows what happened. Was Jillian taken? Did Jillian get cold feet and leave? Why hasn't Jillian gotten in touch with Rileigh and her Mom, Lily? Jillian loved both of them very much and they thought she would reach out if she could. They started getting postcards the year Jillian disappeared. They got one postcard a year from all different locations, some in the United States and some not. Lily thought the postcards were from Jillian and she believed it was a sign that Jillian was still alive. The most recent postcard has a postmark from the town Rileigh and her family have always lived. Is Jillian in town? Each postcard has nothing but a smiley face on it, no other message. The latest postcard from in town was different, it said HOME on it. Was Jillian back? Where has she been? Why didn't she come to the house?

Rileigh is on her way home one night and she's taken the shortcut on a very bumpy road filled with potholes. She knows the road like the back of her hand so she knows when to swerve right and left to miss the potholes. All of a sudden Rileigh's driver side window shatters as she is swerving to miss a huge pothole. Rileigh can't stop the car from skidding and it goes over the side down into the river. The car is filling with cold water and Rileigh's foot is stuck. After working hard not to panic she's able to get her foot free and she gets out of the car at the very last moment. She's freezing cold and is able to drag her body to the side of the river and pull herself out. She falls unconscious from the hypothermia after she gets out of the river.

When Mitch goes to Lily's to meet her and Rileigh, he is surprised that no one is home. Rileigh should have beat him here as she left the office first and Lily should be home as he's there to help her move furniture. What's going on? Mitch is the local sheriff and Rileigh is his new deputy. When he knocks and calls out, no one answers. He decides to backtrack and locate Rileigh that way. He knows the way she drives home and starts back in that direction. He sees tire prints going off the road and a car in the river. He is panicked and hurries down the river bank. He calls it in first so that help will come. When he gets down there he finds Rileigh laying there unconscious. She's very cold. He takes off all of her clothes and wraps her in his warm coat. He holds her against his warm body as that's what they say to do with someone suffering from hypothermia. Rileigh doesn't wake up and Mitch is scared. Rileigh is more than a deputy to him. He asked her to have dinner with him as he really likes her. Once the ambulance arrives and they get Rileigh to the hospital, the doc says she should make a full recovery.

As Rileigh wakes up she is still so very cold and remembers what caused her accident. She tells Mitch about her window shattering and that she believes someone shot at her from the woods. Why would someone want to kill Rileigh? This was a professional sniper that someone must've hired. What had Rileight done to cause someone to want to kill her? Was it an old case? Was it someone she knew? So many people in town that Rileigh trusts are keeping secrets. Who is willing to kill to keep their secret safe? Will Rileigh and Mitch find out in time before someone close to them dies? Is Jillian alive? Where has Lily gone? She's been missing since Rileigh's accident. Has she been kidnapped. Can Aunt Daisy shed any light on this? She's in the insane asylum but has moments of clarity. Will she be able to help find the killer?

This book has it all. You will be on the edge of your seat as you read this fantastic thriller. I rate Too Far Gone 5 stars with my highest recommendation. I hope this series has many more books to come because I love the characters and their stories. I received this book via NetGalley to give my honest opinion. And I LOVED it! The kicker? I haven’t actually read any of the series before this one (book 6). Luckily for me, the story was pretty easy to follow along with even having never read any of the series leading up to it. Too Far Gone had me sucked in from the beginning, on the edge of my seat the entire time. Suspenseful! I’m excited to dive into the rest of this series and that there will most definitely be more books to come. Thank you NetGalley and Lauren Street for the opportunity to read this book! Available NOW — definitely check it out.

Don’t worry if you haven’t read the other books in this series. Yes, the background will add depth to the experience, but the story stands alone. And what a satisfying story it is as we unpick the protagonist’s mysterious past. I found this to be very well paced, perhaps more so than the other books I have read by this author, and that may be because it was so clearly working towards resolution. A very enjoyable and engaging read.

Despite not realizing it was part of a series, I found this book enjoyable, though some storylines felt missing. Still, it held my attention with its twisty plot and was an easy read overall, making it worth recommending.

This was a gripping story filled with mystery and suspense, featuring Rileigh Bishop, an army vet and cop, who returns home to her family's secrets. Despite her belief that her sister is dead, annual postcards hint at a different truth. As Rileigh investigates, danger escalates, leading to shocking revelations and a thrilling climax.

Rileigh's character was compelling, and I found myself invested in her journey. The dynamic between her and Sheriff Mitch added depth, and the pacing kept me engaged, especially towards the end. Overall, I'd happily pick up another book by this author.

Thank you to Netgalley and sterling and stone for the advance reader copy. This was a good book! Like other people have said I didn’t realize it was part of a series, I did fell like I was missing some story lines but was able to follow along. This book kept my attention, was an easy read and had a twist I did not expect. I would recommend this book.

I think this is the most intense one out of the series. there's quite a lot of heavy themes so trigger warnings would be useful. the story starts off with a bang [literally] where Rileigh had a close call with sniper attack, there's lots ongoing all at once and I appreciate the writing of this one more so than the previous book. The suspense is real and there's finally some [not all] closure to some things. I am hoping next book my ship finally sail properly for real T T

Rileigh and Mitch. Mitch had suggested to Rileigh they go out for supper one Friday……Rileigh questioned whether it was a date. Mitch was the Sheriff and Rileigh his deputy, so it could not be a date!
When Rileigh didn’t turn up Mitch started to worry and began a search. Her car had hit a tree and gone off the road. She had gone down a bank into a river. Rileigh managed to drag herself out of the car and the water but lay on the bank almost frozen from the icy cold water. Mitch found her and got her to the hospital.
When trying to figure out why she had gone off the road they discovered a bullet hole in her vehicle window.
Unbelievably Rileigh had swerved to avoid a pothole at the precise moment the shot was taken. Now the mystery begins and Sheriff Mitch was determined to find the shooter but also to keep Rileigh safe in the process.
It is a good mystery and you will want to keep reading until they finally unravel the complicated explanation for the need to kill Rileigh.

As a newly minted Deputy, Rileigh Bishop can now assist Sheriff Mitch in investigations, something she has been doing regularly but unofficially since returning home. Everything seems to be working out for Rileigh until someone tries to kill her. A would-be assassin's bullet misses the target, but Rileigh's car goes down a mountainside in an attempt to avoid the danger. She survives, and the day goes downhill from there. Her mother is missing without a trace. When another person is murdered, Mitch and Rileigh begin a complicated investigation that involves lies, cold cases, and plenty of danger that somehow connect to Rileigh's older sister who disappeared years ago and was presumed dead. When faced with the choice of seeing her sister again or keeping her hard-won badge, what will Rileigh decide to do?

I wasn't aware that this is a part of a series.. so I feel like there are some parts that I might be missing. It does read well as a stand alone. The characters were very interesting and the story is well written. There was a good sense of humor throughout the book. Definitely kept me hooked until the end.

maybe i should’ve read the other books in the series first, maybe i was okay having not— but that aside, this was quite a decent thriller sort of novel, and i did like ryleigh quite a lot. i found myself rooting for her, and was DEFINITELY rooting for her a mitch to figure out their differences and have a dinner date. the characters were punchy, the plot kept my attention, and the way the pace picked up in the last quarter or so was quite enjoyable. i would definitely come back and pick up another one of street’s books!

We finally get some answers about Rileighs past. But there are new secrets. I can't wait to find out what happens next. I really enjoyed this book, well the entire series actually. Good stories, well developed characters, nice writing style, entertaining page turners.
I received an advance review copy for free via NetGalley and Sterling & Stone and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

This is the 6th book in a series called The Bishop Smoky Mountain Thrillers. I did not read the others but felt it was a standalone book. The characters were likable, if not crazy. I enjoyed the sense of humor throughout. I felt that one of the characters, nicknamed Mum, should have had a different name as I kept confusing Mum with being the main character’s mom, as they call mom Mum in the Uk. There were several typos which I hope will get corrected before its release date 4/9/24.
Would I read her books again? Probably, but I have too many other favorite authors I follow, such as Loreth Anne White. I would rate this 3.5.

I have no idea what to write. This was an edge of your seat story. Mystery. Lies. Secrets. Everything you need for a good suspenseful book.
Rileigh was in the army and a cop but returned home to be with her mother. Years ago her sister disappeared on the night before her wedding. Every year since they received a postcard with only a smiley face. Rileigh’s mother has believed all these years that they were from her sister Jillian. Rileigh has always believed she was dead.
While going home, someone shoots at Rileigh’s car and it causes her to go down a hill, into the river. Rileigh and the sheriff, Mitch investigate and believe that Jillian’s disappearance, her being shot at and her mother missing, are all tied together.
What they don’t expect is to find suicides that was a murder. Incriminating evidence against her dead father. Secrets that will break the case wide open. Can they figure it out before it’s too late?
CLIFFHANGER. No sex or romance. Fast paced. A crazy Aunt and a slightly delusional mother. I really enjoyed this book, even though I figured it out part way through.

I didn't know this series and it's the first book I've read by this author.
Despite not knowing the series, it is a book that we can read perfectly well without reading the previous ones.
I really liked the book, the story is super interesting, very well written, an exciting thriller, full of suspense and shocking revelations.
I confess I was expecting another ending, but being a series, I understand why it ends like this.
It's really worth the reading and I'm honestly looking forward to reading the next one, and maybe even the other books in the series

The story grabbed me from the start! This is the first book in the series I read, and don’t feel I missed anything. I will have to read the other five. I give it 4 1/2 stars. It was predictable at times (but I have that kind of mind). It not only grabbed me but had me wanting to read more. Read within 24 hours.

Another good sequel in the Rileigh Bishop novels . At the beginning someone tries to shoot Rileigh while she is driving her car but fortunately misses the kill spot when she swerved over a pothole. Crashing her car down a ravine Rileigh wakes up in the hospital and finds out her mother is also missing. Rileigh and sheriff mitch race against time to find out what happened to her mom, who tried to kill her and who is sending strange postcards that seem like they are coming from Rileigh long missing sister. The ending will make you want to read the next book too.

Finally we’re getting some answers! For the last few books, we’ve had the opportunity to think about what may have happened to Jillian that fateful night before her wedding. Is she dead or alive? What really happened that night to her and her father? What did the Bishop women have to do with this whole thing? I developed a theory. Honestly, it was so insane that I didn’t think I could possibly be right because what the actual f. Friends, I WAS RIGHT ABOUT ALL OF IT. I couldn’t believe it. I was so bummed because holy crap, those poor characters! But also, I felt so vindicated! I was right! This fantastic sixth installment of Rileigh Bishop’s story gives us almost all the answers we’ve been looking for, including steering us into a direction that I know most readers have been waiting for. Rileigh and Mitch are closer than ever. Our biggest questions have been answered. But now that we have the answers to that decades old mystery, we find ourselves in a conundrum. Because there are a whole new set of questions. What are they going to do now? Because the story isn’t finished, it’s just starting over again…

Huge thanks to Sterling & Stone and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!
