This was a solid 3.5/5 read, but it wasn't as good as books 1 and 2 which is why I'm rounding down to 3. With the major cliffhanger of book 2 and Morgan finding herself back in Camelot and discovering Lancelet is alive, I was expecting a more engaging start to book 3. It took me a while to get into the story. There was a lot of catching up with what happened in Camelot while Morgan was away and formulating a plan, which seemed to drag a bit for me. It wasn't until I hit the 40-50% mark that I was drawn in like I was with the first two books of the series. That being said, I still am really enjoying this series. There's a lot going on, and Morgan and Draven's story is such a good one. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out in book 4!

Book three in the series found me longing for more. There was action, adventure, deceit, and romance but I missed the strong connection that had been so abruptly ended in book two with the exit of Morgan through the arch. I did like that we were able to focus more on Morgan and her abilities. I can’t wait to see how this series ends!

Love this series!! Highly recommend for anyone who enjoyed Gild, Throne of Glass, Crave, or The Bridge Kingdom. It’s a binge worthy series and once you start you won’t be able to stop. I spend every free moment I have to read this. Couldn’t recommend enough. Draven and Morgan <3

When starting Empress of Fae, I initially was slightly annoyed that our main characters would be separated for the majority of the book but was pleasantly surprised by the major plot points that made up for it.

Morgan was reunited with characters from book 1 and 2, shocking discoveries were made and new intriguing characters were introduced. The pacing was great and my attention was kept throughout. I never wanted to put the book down!

I’m not normally a fan of multiple POVs but in this case it felt fitting. I wasn’t sure how tension and intrigue would be created now that Morgan was trapped in the castle and forced to swear fealty to her brother Arthur, but the plot deepened and lead us down a path a certainly hadn’t been expecting.

I rated this book a 3.5 stars and I plan to finish the series.

This series just gets better and better!

This is a Camelot retelling but not as you know it. It's a great twist on the classic story. The characters really grew on me in this book. I loved the slight hints (even though I missed most of them) and easter eggs here and there. The plot really developed and sped along a bit faster in this book. So glad I kept reading!

Love Morgan more with each book! I want a battelcat, but don't we all haha. The bond between Draven and Morgan is <3 , #goals! I don't want to give too much away as I don't want to spoil it but if you enjoyed book 1 and 2 then go for it!

I liked this book, but felt like even though a lot was happening, it dragged in places. I realize this book was more of a set up for the final book, which it did quite well. I am hopeful/anticipating that we get to see more of Morgan's (& her mom & her family) backstory in the last book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC opportunity.

Our heroine is 'home' but the battles aren't over for Morgan yet.

In this book, we see Morgan and Dravens POVs which really adds to the storyline!

I couldn't read this fast enough, it was exciting, dramatic, spicy and kept the pace of the earlier books,

My dislike for Kairos has grown in this book. He’s boring, controlling and nothing changes the fact that Morgan was forced into a bond with him. It’s not real emotion if she has no choice!!! It also bothers me that she forgives him because she wants to sleep with him. Like that’s literally all he has going for him. Also have I missed something, but why does she call him Draven? That’s his second name, so why not call him Kairos now he’s her actual husband? It’s extremely annoying. His POV chapters are boring too mostly, so I skimmed most of them.

The writing is consistently descriptive, which are well written and detailed but have become a little boring now so I skimmed a lot of them too.

For the positives, the events were a lot less harrowing to read, and the characters remain believable and motivated.

It was refreshing to read Lancelet’s response to prior events in a realistic, well-thought out way. Kaye is by far the best character, and I still love Morgans relationship with him. I would read this entire series for Kaye and Morgan alone. I quite like Orcades too actually.

I am enjoying this series, though this book was very much a transition book with quite a lot of slow pacing. But I pushed through and hope the final book will make up for it!

Book 3 by Briar Boleyn opened up with a bittersweet reunion for Morgan and her best friend Lancelet. I was shocked and overjoyed to see them reunited! After Morgan met her sister Orcades, who left her for dead, I was not expecting such a reunion so soon. This book truly changed my mind about Orcades and I was surprised to find that my mind could be changed. I was excited to see that my prediction about Draven's powers to be correct (Hello Shadow Daddy Club!). It was nice to see Morgan start to own her heritage as a Fae and to stop being ashamed of where she came from. It is inspiring to see someone start to come into their own and Morgan certainly does this. The spicey scenes continue to give me life and really add some great bits to the book and the story. I am looking forward to reading book 4, but not ready for the series to end!

The only reason it took me so long to finish this book is because everyone in my house kept getting sick! The story continued on with lots of scheming, plotting, and spying.I have loved this series and I cannot wait to see where the next book takes us.

Briar continues to get darker and darker with each book! This book brought Morgan back home, alone, navigating the castle in her brother, Arthur’s new court. This book spends more time in action then in limbo, I felt this was slower paced—but in the best way!

This book ATE, by the end I was heartbroken and falling for the villain—I don’t think we were supposed too. But here I am mourning all the loses this book had 😭

Morgan has finally accepted she misses Draven, wants him, needs him (took her long enough) and sees him as her mate and husband. The dream world they share = ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! When the concept was introduced in COC I did not grasp just how adorable but resourceful it would become.

Lancelet continues to be my favorite side character, her new demeanor is raw leaving her very harsh and cold AND she deserves to be!

I do not want this series to be over, I could stay in this world FOREVER. Briar has continued to build the plot, kept all characters at peak perfection, and magically addicting.

I'm really learning that dark romantasy is not for me. If this series had skipped the lengthy, circular conversations about feelings, this could've been a tight duology.

Empress of Fae is book in 3 Briar Boleyn’s ‘Blood Of A Fae’ series. So far Briar Boleyn has proved to be a master of plot twist and ranging cliffhangers. I’d be remiss to say that had I not had the next books in such a series available, the cliffhangers alone, would have me spiraling down the many stages of grief. Thankfully each book quickly picks up right where it’s predecessor left off. You’re once again immediately submerged into this intoxicating Arthurian fae tale full of war, blood, love, and lust.

Empress of Fae brings us back to Camelot in the land of Eskira. Morgan has run from Draven after some revelations and heartbreak that our, still growing and grieving, Morgan has difficulty processing. Not to mention her singleminded drive to get back to her youngest brother Kayne.

Morgan has definitely shown some growth since this story began, and I’m glad to see it. This story focuses a lot more on the current politics and war mongering that Arthur has thrust upon the continent. We truly see the depths of evil and depravity that Arthur is capable of. As well as Morgan coming to understand her faults and mistakes in leaving the Court of Umbral Flames, and most importantly Draven, in such haste.

We’re introduced to some new and impactful characters in the plot. As well as the world of the dreaming. That’s all I’ll say on that front, other than…the steamy scenes were steaming. This book was the first in the series not to end in an absolute “what the…” cliffhanger. It did however elude to an epic battle to come. Excited to for the fourth and final installment in this series.
