Briar Boleyn did it again! I throughly enjoyed the second book of this series! I loved seeing Morgan and Draven’s relationship develop and get to see where Draven came from, one thing I did not like, however, is Morgan’s constant state of ‘I hate you, I love you, I hate you’ again. Hopefully not so much in book 3.

"But I see you, Morgan Pendragon. I see you truly for everything you are and everything you will be and I claim you as mine.”

This series keeps getting better and better! Queen of Roses has been one of my favorite reads of 2024, but this one is even more superior. This book picks up where the last book left off, but this one is a sort of Hunger Games style competition where the winner gets the Siabra throne. Draven is competing for said throne. There are so many twists and turns, and though Morgan seems pretty dense when it comes to Draven and their feelings toward one another, I still loved how strong both characters were. I also loved the side characters, as well as the exmoors. I loved all the twists, especially regarding Morgan's background. Usually the 2nd book in a series drags - NOT this one! This is Romantasy at its finest! I can't wait to read the 3rd book!

Court of Claws is an amazing continuation from the first book, and it did not disappoint. Draven did what he had to do to save Morgan's life, let's just hope that she accepts what he had to do to keep her alive. With a new place, comes new threats but there's a lot more we learn about Draven in this book. There were a lot of secrets revealed, there's betrayal, jealousy, enemies and allies amongst friends and family. There is a competition for a throne while a war is brewing in different parts of their world. There will be casualties, heartbreak, loss, steamy scenes, heartfelt, laugh out loud moments and more. Draven kept a huge secret from Morgan, and he may have done it for the right reasons for him and her, but Morgan doesn't see it that way and takes what she feels as his betrayal hard. However, with the choice he made both he and Morgan help save a lot of lives but it's just the beginning. This story ends with huge cliffhanger but also a surprise when it comes to someone I thought was lost. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books in this series and I think it's a series worth reading if you enjoy paranormal romance stories.

Morgan is realising that all she took for real is not quite true, including herself. She awakens in the Siabra fae court and wants to run but Draven has other plans.
This is the second book in Blood of a fae and it continues at the same pace as the first. The writing style keeps you invested in the characters. Hurting for Morgan with the loss of her friend and wary of Draven now that she is beginning to realise just who he is.
I am just loving this series books, crisp descriptive writing that keeps me hooked and needing to know what will happen next.

I could NOT put this down! It’s a totally different scene and journey for Morgan and Draven … with new characters and the Siabra people / culture. Draven wasn’t totally forthcoming with his past or who he was, and the book ends in a cliffhanger about Morgan’s identity. I’m really loving this series… even if Morgan is annoying at times!

This book had me in a chokehold. I loved every second of it! I really enjoyed Draven's kingdom, and especially all of his close friends that eventually become Morgan's found family.

The brutal competition element reminded me a little bit of a few other books (but in a good way), and again there were many twists I was not anticipating AT ALL.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, especially after that ending and I look forward to reading the third book.

Court of Claws is the second book in the Blood of a Fae series. Wonderfully written and exquisite world building. I have to say I enjoyed this book much more than the first.

It picks up where the first book left off smoothly. Morgan finds herself in the company of the dreadful Siabra people, away from her home. She is determined to do what it takes to get back to her Kingdom. However, things don't always go as planned.

I would have loved to give this a 5 star rating. However, my opinion/ review was clouded by the following:

1. I found that there was only a slight character development with Morgan and Draven. I felt at times that we were taking 2 steps forward only to take 5 steps back. They went from enemies to lovers, then lovers to enemies. I also found that Morgan's distrust in Draven was sometimes just unfounded. I wanted her to just give him a break. Also, it would be nice to just let them be end game. Instead of drawing it out. Morgan is a little childish, and Draven is still but a mystery. I also think that they needed more friendly banter.
2. Without giving much away, the last trial??? I felt it was not climatic enough.

Briar Boleyn does it again. I was hooked from page one. Here it is, the enemies to lovers, the way I screamed, the chemistry, the sizzle it’s all there. It was done in such a way I can honestly say I was not expecting it to go down like THAT!!!! The way it is start to finish never a slow moment I could not read through it any faster. How is it that Briar can write a character I love and hate all at the same time? Draven is a 10/10. Excuse me sir but where do I sign up to be your next enemy/lover. The touch her and you die vibe was there. It was pure gold. Morgan had so much growth and she proves just how bad ass she is. So many new characters to fall in love with, some to despise and even more moments to leave my jaw on the floor. I had my tissue box handy and did use it? Oh ya and that ending!! I jumped out of my chair and reread it to make sure I wasn’t imagining it. Book two was even better than book one. 10/10 I’m already ready to reread it!

The author beautifully portrays Morgan's evolution, showcasing her strength and resilience as she navigates through the complexities of court life. The intimate moments between Morgan and Kairos add depth to the narrative, although I wished for more exploration of their budding relationship.

One minor gripe I had was Morgan consistently referring to Kairos as "Draven" rather than his first name, which felt somewhat disconnected. Additionally, the rapid transition from lust to love felt slightly rushed, lacking sufficient buildup from the first book.

Overall, Court of Claws is a remarkable read, offering a thrilling continuation of Morgan's story while leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Omg omg omg...this series just keeps getting better and better! I am absolutely hooked. Please. I am going to need books 3 and 4 asap. I am on spring break for another week and I will read and review immediately. I am begging you. I have not been this emotionally attached to a series since I don't know when. I have slept maybe four hours each night since starting the books Friday. I cannot get enough. The writing is exceptional, the characters and captivating and honest and feel so real to me. The emotional rollercoaster Morgan is on has my anxiety spiking because I feel for her. I want her to trust herself. And OMG, Morgan and Draven are MARRIED and BOUND to one another!?!?! Lancelets is alive!!!!! Those plot twists, I almost threw my kindle across the room. I have tried to review on storygraph, Barnes and Noble and Amazon, but they won't let me. I will try again another day. I will copy/paste my review from goodreads below, and have linked it.

Please. Again please. Let me have books three and four. I'm going to cry if I don't get to read them next week.

This series has me in a chokehold. I'm exhausted, my eyes are blurry, and I wouldn't want it any other way. My God, the relationship between Morgan and Draven, the tension, the banter, the connection between them. I'm pretty sure my smartwatch has been logging my reading of this book as a cardio work out. I cannot remember the last time I've read a book and I am audibly gasping, giggling, crying, kicking my feet in the air, with my heart racing from the anxiousness this book is creating in my. I'm spellbound. And I don't want it to end.

So plot summary with as few spoilers as possible. Morgan has woken up within the court of the fae kingdom Draven is from. Surprise he's fae. With horns and claws, the latter are an optional retractable accessory. Morgan must try to come to terms with being an entire continent away from Camelot, the only home she has known. Will she begin to truly accept her fae ancestry and the magic flowing within her veins and work to hone it? Will she give in to the feeling she has for Draven? She does reluctantly return to training physically and magically. She knows it's her only chance at saving Camelot for Arthur. But once again everything comes at a price, and with terrible shocks when hidden truths are finally revealed to her.

The second book in Boleyn's series Blood of a Fae - Court of Claws isn't as slow as the first book. The adventure starts after the jaw-dropping ending in the Queen of Roses.
The series is based upon King Arthur and his court except Arthur is a bloody thirsy, venomous King, Morgan is a female fae and Merlin is a high priestess.
In this book we learn more about Lancelet - Morgan's best friend and we meet Guinevere. However the main focus is Draven - the person who was charged with assisting Morgan in locating Excalibur. Their relationship unfolds in the pages and the writing becomes a bit spicy - but nothing too vulgar. Morgan is championed by Draven but not all of his court thinks the same - Morgan is seen as a concubine - however this is just to mask her true potential.

A fantastic read.

Court of Claws by B. Boleyn is the second book in the Blood of a Fae Series. The previous book is Queen of Roses. I recommend to read the books in order.
Set in a reverse Camelot world where Fae are strongly disliked, where Merlin and some knights are female, yes I kid you not.
Morgan, Draven, Kaye and Arthur's story continues. I liked the story and the writing is great, I loved how Morgan forms relationships with other characters. Next up is Empress of Fae. Both books are available in KU.

Second book of the series and its another solid 4* read.
