Book Nooks is a wonderful coffee table book for any bibliophile in your life. With amazing photography and easy-to-digest information, this would be a great gift book for the holidays.

This was a fun book to read. Being a bibliophile, I love to just carve out a quite reading nook away from the noise of the world. And this book offers so many suggestions for creating your own quiet place. "Book Nooks'. will relate to the wide audience of book lovers on this planet.

Book Nooks by Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly is a delightful and inspiring guide for book lovers and craft enthusiasts alike. This beautifully curated book showcases creative ways to design and build miniature book nooks—tiny, detailed dioramas that fit perfectly on a bookshelf. With step-by-step instructions, stunning photography, and a wealth of ideas, it encourages readers to bring their favorite stories to life through hands-on creativity. Whether you’re an experienced crafter or a beginner looking for a new hobby, Book Nooks is a charming and engaging resource that sparks imagination and artistic expression.

Book Nooks is a well written, logically arranged idea book for book nooks, reading corners, and book displays curated and designed by Vanessa Dina & Claire Gilhuly. Released 17th Sept 2024 by Chronicle Books, it's 144 pages and is available in hardcover and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links.
This is a thematically arranged book with do-able projects attainable for the average home/apartment crafter with average skills, tools, and budget. The designs are varied, from casual to modern formal, and across a range of sizes, from tiny to impressive (with room to grow). Much of the aesthetic is "insta-worthy" and uses books as decor elements more than as a working usable library.
It's arranged into thematic chapters: classic, small space, bedside, bathroom, baby, kids, cookbooks, bar, the collector (much love and inspiration for eclectic book nerds, hobbyists, and reading fanatics here), the gardener, the artist, colorful, and neutral.
There are no tutorials as such, with lists of supplies, materials, lumber footage, findings, etc. What the authors and photographer have done is provide a plethora of inspiration pictures which are well styled and very clear (and in color), for readers to pick and choose from.
The photography is the standout. It's clear, plentiful, and understandable.
The authors & publisher have also included some useful short appendices including an abbreviated list of worthwhile library destinations for more practical inspiration, a short couple pages (with photos) on Little Free Libraries, and some powerful words about book bans and the freedom and availability of books and their importance to humanity.
Three and a half stars. Delivers more or less what it promises. It would be a worthwhile choice for school or public library acquisition, home use, gardening and activity club libraries, etc. Warning to book purists: The authors DO occasionally mutilate books for decor purposes, so if that bothers you, look away.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

A home decor book for book nerds. That shows how and gives ideas of how to create the perfect book nook for your home.

Such a beautiful way to to display your book collection. I hope to have a wonderful set up like one of these books in the future!

What could be better than books? Cozy nooks for reading them, of course. This book is utterly beautiful and made me want to redesign my whole house. The book recommendations from authors seemed a bit extraneous to me, but others might be more appreciative. #BookNooks #NetGalley

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A book about all the different ways you can displays your books.

A great addition to every book lover. If you happen to be like me - love to read and have piles of books al around your place then pick this up!
It might just look like a run of the mill coffee book and I can be, but the best is inside where different bibliophiles all over share their styles of book displays at home. It may even give you inspiration to set up your books into interior decor. I know that I have new ideas on how to use my books. Hope everyone enjoys Book Nooks like I did.
Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book!

The photos are fantastic and made my book lover heart very happy! I would recommend this for all bookworms! Special Thank You to Vanessa Dina,Claire Gilhuly,Chronicle Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Book Nooks was a stunning book of photographs with books being used as decor in different areas of the home. However, the design seemed to focus mostly on upper end homes with a good amount of excess space. I also feel that many of the homes had unique layouts or home features that aren't so common in everyday homes. While I loved it for the visual beauty of the photographs, I didn't find the book exceptionally helpful in terms of inspiration.

A book about books? What's not to love? However, this is really more of a "how to decorate with books" book. It feels a bit forced for people who wish to appear bookish but don't really read.

As a book lover and collector, I loved this beautifully photographed volume. It offers a wealth of ideas for organizing and arranging books artistically in various areas of a home, including beyond a library or den: bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, children’s playroom are among those shown. The illustrated ideas are interspersed with interesting book lists recommended by varied authors and others. In all, the book offers lovely and useful possibilities for living with your books.

What a beautiful book! My favorite unexpected part was the lists of top reads by different authors. The pictures are just stunning.

I hate giving this such a low rating as the photos are absolutely swoon-worthy, but the book is definitely more about "stylish book displays" than "cozy reading corners."
Here we have books used as tables - put a stack by your favorite chair to hold an African violet and your favorite hot beverage. (This is a disaster waiting to happen, folks.) Books are creatively crammed into a fireplace. Books chosen simply for the color of their spines are used as knick-knacks to be placed on the shelf beside a crock of cooking utensils and the wine glasses.
Sigh . . .
It's enough to give any TRUE book lover nightmares!

I’m surprised by the low average rating on this one. I thought it was packed with adorable ideas, some practical and some creative. I especially like the idea of using book stacks in a functional way, and this is going to help me rethink my overflow piles. Aesthetically, I was especially attracted to the color matching display, as well as the vintage cookbooks mixed with cute vintage hard goods (like vintage Pyrex!). The included book recommendations from various authors was a nice addition!

My books are more for enjoyment than style but this book showed me some great ways to use my favorite as decor items in my home.

If you are the bibliophile that I am, this book is a “must have.“ While book lovers will undoubtedly swoon over the eye candy, you don’t have to be crazy about books to appreciate the clever decorating ideas. From traditional to modern, to classic, to bohemian, Vanessa Dina shows you how best to display, enjoy, and decorate with books. More coffee table book than a “how to” guide, it is an absolute joy to page through.
I am the queen of using books in non-traditional ways, and thought I had pretty much employed the use of every aspect of that, but I still learned a few new things here. What I found charming was the way in which she used books in the bathroom. I don’t spend a lot of time in the bathroom, but, particularly in the case of the master bathroom, I want it to look cozy and inviting. A small stack of books topped with a vase of flowers or favorite piece of sculpture would add a lot to my bathroom personally, and I’m sure yours as well.
Reading about how other authors weighed in on the way in which they like to use books in their homes was inspiring as well. True, not every idea presented here works for everybody, but my guess is that whatever the situation, the reader is going to come away with a lot of new and exciting ideas on how to decorate with, display, and store their books.
Many thanks to the publisher, NetGalley, and the author for providing me with an advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Beautiful pictures and concepts. I loved looking at the new designs and concepts for this magazine. Especially with fall coming up
