This was a super cute book! It's essentially a book of paintings with cats, captioned like memes. I thought it captured the various attitudes of both cats and cat lovers very well. It would make for an excellent white elephant gift!

This short and sweet book was a perfect mix of humor and art. I loved the author’s ability to take these serious work of art and putting a fun spin on them.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you NetGalley and Chronicle Books for sending me this ebook for review consideration.

Each picture that was selected for this book was perfectly chosen to fit the themes/sections. I laughed out loud going through this book, and was excited to point it out to a friend after it was published when we saw it in a bookstore!

I grabbed this book because I love cats and cat memes-- and I really enjoy art. Honestly, I was underwhelmed. Most of the jokes just were not that funny. A few made me smile. It's a very quick read, so there is that. And there's a lovely list of all the artwork at the end of the book, if something strikes your eye.
Thank you, NetGalley and Chronicle Books, for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

Another fun book from Nicole Tersigni. This one obviously focuses on paintings with cats with quips most cat people will feel in their bones. I always enjoy Tersigni's combination of classical art and modern sentiments.

Thanks to Chronicle Books for the eARC of this book. It drops tomorrow on September 3rd!! All opinions are my own.

“Cat People…” follows a very simple, but funny premise. Tersigni uses real fine art pieces overlayed with captions of a person talking to their cat and the cat’s snarky response. You can visit the author’s instagram account to get a good idea at her style. It’s very of the “Internet age” and “memey.” Is that a word? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was delighted throughout. This is perfect for your coffee table to give your guests a good chuckle. It would also make a great gift. You know when you and your friends hit that age when you stop knowing what to get anyone without an explicit list, because everyone has enough money to get their own stuff. If they like cats, get them this book. If they are dog people, then I’m not sure what to tell you.

Thanks Netgalley and Chronicle Books for this arc.

After "Men to Avoid," "Friends to Keep," and "Parenting Advice to Ignore," now we finally get to the good stuff. Just kidding. I think I might resemble this book as it's about Cat People (no, not just crazy cat ladies, there are crazy cat men, and children here, too). "A Cat Person is someone who would do anything in their power to make a comfortable home for a companion who pays you back in mouse heads." Truth, Nicole. Truth. B

Hmm, I don’t know, the vibes were off for me with this book. The art is great and there’s so much potential for great cat memes, but the snark is just more of a downer than actually funny. And I’m not opposed to sharp wit if the shade being thrown is clever, but it’s just that the humor here is curmudgeonly—the voice of a sour puss more than anything else, so to speak. I felt like I’d seen similar things done better elsewhere. Maybe I’m not the intended audience being a cat person, but the “judging” didn’t seem especially clever or really “get” the real obsession cat people have—the depths of our enmeshment with our cats could certainly be read to filth or it could be just charmingly poked fun at. To me, this book achieved neither and so just struck a sour tone. I typically love Chronicle Books, but this one’s a miss for me, sorry!

A gift for the cat lover/art lover in your life, this book is a collection of paintings with cats and what the people (and cats) might be thinking. The humor was a little hit-or-miss for me, but not bad to pick up and glance through sometimes. I liked the list of what the paintings and artists were in the back, a nice 'bibliography' of sorts in case there was a painting you particularly liked.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

This charming little book definitely made me chuckle a few times. Though I found myself distracted by the harsh blocks around the text. it took me a few seconds to figure out what was going on and who was saying what. Overall this wholesome book is something I could see picking up as a joke-y gift for my grandmother instead of myself.

Against the backdrop of fine art featuring cats, the author delves into the imagined thoughts of cats and the people who serve them.

Some of the pages felt like they were about me and quite a few had me smiling or laughing.

I am a cat mom of 3. This book is down right hilarious and true to what all cat owners are thinking. Anyone who has a cat definitely read this book! I’m buying one for myself and other cat mom/dads I know as a gift when books releases. Thank you so much for the laugh! Made my day. Look forward to reading more books from this author.

Nicole Tersigni, the genius behind Men to Avoid in Art and Life, has written another laugh-out-loud book, to be released just in time to torture J.D. Vance, Ohio senator, vice presidential candidate and weirdo scourge of spinster cat ladies everywhere.

As Tersigni writes: “A Cat Person is someone who would do anything in their power to make a comfortable home for a companion who pays you back in mouse heads.” As the title suggests, we meet all types of cat lovers: smotherers, pushovers, proud parents (to “fur babies,” of course) and more. Tersigni ensures that each category is elucidated in the most hilarious way possible — accompanied by wonderful art. Don’t overlook this gem.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Chronicle Books in exchange for an honest review.

I love cats so I assume I am a crazy cat lady to my friends, but my husband loves our cats too! Anyway, this book will definitely be added to my personal bookshelf at home and I already have some patrons in mind at the library that will love this book too.

The snarky, witty, and sarcastic statements made by the cats are hysterical plus the artwork. I laughed out loud.

I am not sure I was the targeted audience for this book. Initially, I thought it sounded interesting. I love art and I love cats, what better book could there be that addressed both of these things all at once?

However, this was a very mundane read for me. The quips were lacking for me, and I felt that I was rolling my eyes a bit at it. The jokes were not original or unique...easily something you can find posted anywhere on the internet to generically describe "being a cat" or "having a cat". I had expectations that if you are going to put a collection together such as this, you'd have original content, but that is not what I received.

Additionally, much of it was repetitive. How many times are we going to crack a "Meowy Cyrus" joke in this single book, of one theme, with so few words?

I suppose the Boomer & Gen X generations might give a laugh or chuckle, but anyone after those generations likely will find this to be boring and unoriginal. However, it wasn't absolute torture, but I didn't even slightly laugh or even smirk while making my way through this.

For those reasons, it's a 2/5 stars for me. Thank you NetGallery for the opportunity to be an early reader of this.

This is a great concept. There are several funny remarks/observations.
The artwork meeting sarcasm is awesome.
I am sure the print book will look wonderful - it is such a book that shows its full magic when printed.
