Summary
Brenna, a witch has been suffering from a poison she consumed and has slowly been killing her. Without the cure or a mate, she will die and she only has weeks left. Brenna knows that she is weakening and only one man can save her, Jase Kayrs. Jase was held captive and tortured by the demons for five long years, and he still is recovering. He was once easy-going and jovial, but not is volatile and dangerous. Jase gives Brenna an offer, mate with him and have the chance to live, or she will die. Brenna knows that she doesn’t have a choice but to mate with Jase, a dangerous vampire, but a man she knows that is out for revenge and will do anything to destroy the demons. Soon Brenna and Jase will have to start working together to defeat what is to come…
The Hero
Jase Karys has changed since he was captured and tortured. He is quite powerful, intense, and full of rage and has vows to get revenge on the demon nation, no matter the cost. Jase is the youngest of the Kayrs Family, a “royal” family of the vampire nation. His brother is King, but Jase who was one the most easy-going and carefree of the brothers is not the same man anymore. Jase has his own demons to destroy and he must gain certain gifts through mating Brenna to get what he needs most. Jase is a hero that is one of the strongest of his family because of what he endured. Jase is full of rage and needs to get his revenge, but what was most admirable about Jase was how he didn’t let the demons break him. He may be damaged but is still a fighter and stronger than ever…and what an alpha male he is.
The Heroine
Brenna, is a powerful witch, or was until she was poisoned and she lost her abilities. She has known for quite some time, that she will be dying soon, and she knows that even if she mates with Jase, it may be too late for her. Brenna sees life in a very realistic way, she sees the facts and how life really is, not how she would want it to be. Brenna despite her loss of powers, is still a fighter, and boy can this woman kick ass (I would dearly love to fight like her), she is just as strong in fighting for those she cares about. I loved her dedication to Jase and aiding him. Brenna is a heroine that will charm and win you over. Practical to the core, talented in the martial arts, and emotionally sound.
Plot and Story Line
Shadowed is a story I knew was going to be dang good and boy was I right about this book!! Whew, did I love just about everything about it. Another fabulous addition to the series that Zanetti has created for us here. Shadowed follows the previous book a little bit after, some time has gone by. Jase, has been rescued and been healing since he got back. But he is full of anger and uncontrolled rage. We see how his time with the demons has affected him. In some ways the easy-going brother is gone, and a more powerful vampire has taken his place. A vampire that does what needs to be done, no matter what. Even if that means mating with a woman he doesn’t love. It seems like just about everyone is against their mating, including some of her coven members. Even though it seems like a practical arrangement, it doesn’t turn out that way. And it seems that these two are destined for more. Love the way this author weaved this story and told a tale of redemption and the healing power of love. What made the most impact on me was the change in their relationship despite the chaos surrounding them. It’s a ongoing and steady change, and you slowly see it changing from something practical to a very emotional and powerful bond these two start to build with each other.
The Cover
I actually really enjoy this cover, I love this male model…isn’t he delicious?? I love the mix of colors we have here as well. A bit different from the earlier covers.
Overall View
Shadowed is a stimulating and thrilling ride of passion, edgy suspense, and paranormal adventure…bound to know your socks off!! STUNNING!

Oh. My. Goodness.
I have been waiting for Jace's story and it has not disappointed. This is a book in a series with a story line that is building from the first book, so cant be read as a stand alone.
Tortured Jace finally finds his chance to save Brenna Dunne, Moira's sister and the woman that kept him alive in his darkest hour with her paintings. Brennan was poisoned five years ago and no longer has much time before she dies. She was also born during a special event, and that event is due to happen in only a matter of weeks, an event that has been predicted.
Both end up helping each other and Jace finds a new normal with Brenna, one he thought had gone from his life. More characters perish, battles are fought and you will have your heart in your hands as you follow the characters to what is becoming close to the end of the war and Janie's role in all of this.
I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see where everything leads.

Jase Karys is a much different man after being tortured by demons for five years. People tiptoe around him and that only makes him madder. Alive when by rights he should be dead, he’s a broken man inside bent on revenge even if it kills him. Until he mates with a powerful dying witch. He’s hoping he’ll get his powers back and she’s hoping he’ll cure her of the poison that’s slowly killing her thus restoring her own powers. They’ll use each other then go their separate ways. Or will they?
I’m not crazy about all the fast-forwarding this series does, but I do enjoy the characters and the trials Rebecca Zanetti puts them through. This is another great, but not awesome, read and while I did enjoy it there are certain aspects that I found lacking. The whole section between Willa and Brenna was amateurish compared to other scenes and I was disappointed. It was like it wasn’t even written by the same person. Janie’s actions continue to piss me off. In my opinion she makes really horrible decisions and that makes me not like her. Jase is the tortured hero, literally and Brenna is physically weak (at the moment), but mentally strong. I like her. I like her a whole bunch. I have a feeling this series is coming to its climatic ending very soon and I look forward to the closure.
