A limited edition Murder by Lauren Elliot published on May 21 2024 by Kensington books. This book is the tenth installment in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mystery series.
This was the very first book I have read from the author , so I haven’t read any others from this series but I will definitely be going back to read more of them! Cozies are always books that I ten to hurry to read ❤️
Overall, I really enjoyed this cozy mystery and I will read more from this author. It was a great find!
While this is the 10th book in the series, it could be read as a standalone novel. However, readers could have a greater appreciation for the characters if they read the books in order. Overall, this is a fun cozy mystery which takes place in the English Countryside. When you throw in a sweet romance, a cute dog, and numerous books, what more could you ask for? Perhaps a second mystery to solve, which you find in this installment. It's fun to sleuth along with the characters. Readers familiar with the series will likely enjoy it, and those new to the series may want to check out the prior books.
A Limited Edition Murder was my first delve into cozy mysteries! I did enjoy the overall storyline and 'whodunit' trope, however, I think my literary interests are elsewhere and mysteries may not be for me. I also found out that there are multiple books in this series, so some of the plot points and characters were linked to the previous books, leaving me a little muddled and confused. I may try more of Lauren Elliott's books in the future, but as of right now, I'm happy to let my cozy mystery reading lay low for a while.
While enjoying her extended stay working at Second Chance Books and Bindery in West Yorkshire Adie still feels far from home her friends and her own beloved bookstore. The engagement party of her dear friend Tony at the Milton Manor promises to be a joyful distraction. But trouble is brewing when Tony presents his fiancé with a special copy of Wuthering Heightsas an engagement gift the lord of the manor insists the book was stolen from his library. When Addie takes her Yorkipoo Pippi out for a walk on the moors she discovers the body of a young woman. When the police accuse Tony of foul play Addie vows to get to the bottom of what’s going on. This was a great story with entertaining characters. I would recommend it to everyone.
This was the first book I've read in this series, though I think it works reasonably well as a standalone. However, the romance tropes were just a little too much for me. The plot was fine, but I found the book only partially engaging. Just not my cup of tea, I think.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the review copy in exchange for an honest review.
Good mystery, but since this was #10 in the series, I had some problems catching up with Addie's past.
When Addie's good friend, Tony, throws an engagement party an unknown woman shows up uninvited. The following morning as Addie is walking her dog, she finds that same woman dead. With the police involved, A cold case from 20 years ago is linked to the same crime. Only the newest detective refuses Addie's involvement in solving the crime.
Even though every step she takes leads to the killers.
A must read!
The tenth book in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mystery series is a real page turner and takes place in England. Addie is swept up into another murder investigation when her good friend Tony and his fiancee Hailey become the main suspects in the murder of a young woman. A stolen book, a stolen necklace, and two murders 20 years apart that. Addie is sure are all somehow connected. Often butting heads with Noah, the handsome police detective, Hailey is determined to put the clues together and find justice for the two victims. This was a well written fast paced book that had me turning pages late into the night as I couldn't sleep until I knew whodunit!
I truly love this series. I've always sensed that Addie never quite settled into Greyborne Harbor. Indeed, she forged some solid friendships and established her bookshop, but it seems she truly found her niche in England. There, after the turmoil of her past, she's surrounded by people who appreciate her for who she is, without any pretense, away from those who have caused her pain.
I adored this story, its characters, and the setting. Personally, I would prefer her to remain there, perhaps with the occasional trip home or hosting visitors in England. She has no binding ties and is worthy of happiness.
I am totally Team England.
A perfect cozy! Twisty plot, interesting setting and characters make this an enjoyable read. I particularly liked the way the author wove Wuthering Heights into the story.. Looking forward to future books in this series. Thanks to #NetGalley and #ALimitedEdition for advanced digital copy.
Stumbling across a body while taking her dog for a walk, Addie is determined to find the killer after Tony is suspected by the police. Lots of twists and turns make this an excellent read. Love this series! Thanks#Netgalley and #Kensington for the eARC in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are mine.
I have read and enjoyed this whole series. This was a different setting, but still enjoyable. Loveable English characters. Visiting her friend Tony while working at a bookstore. Double mystery. Recommend
Addie is thrilled to attend the engagement part of her friend Tony. Though things heat up a bit during the festivities, it body Addie and Pippi stable upon while on walk. What should be a joyous time turns into Addie trying to clear Tony’s name and figuring out how the body connects to everyone…if it even does.
I love this series and it’s fun to have an entry set in another country. Pippi is the cutest and she certainly makes Addie’s life more full, though it’s certainly full of sleuthing all on its own. Looking forward to more adventures with Addie and Pippi.
I want to thank Kensington Cozie and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review A Limited Edition Murder by Lauren Elliott.
The cozie books are always a nice relaxing break between the heavier stuff. This one takes place in a small town in England.
Who is the woman in the red and white flowered dress?
Where is the missing necklace? Who does it belong to?
How does an old copy of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte fit into the story?
Addie and her constant companion Pippi are the stars.
It seemed to me it ended a bit abruptly!

A Limited Edition Murder is a cozy mystery that takes place among the moors of West Yorkshire. While mending a broken heart and contemplating her future, Addie finds enjoyment in her work at Second Chance Books and Bindery. And this coming weekend, she gets to celebrate one of her closest friend's engagements. Unfortunately, the party is overshadowed when a dead body if found the next day. Who is the young woman? What was she doing at the engagement party? And why does no one seem to know her?
When the newly engaged fiancée turns prime suspect, Addie knows she must help. She can't have Tony's beloved going to prison before they start their happily-ever-after. With a new detective in town, who seems to have it out for Addie, Addie is up against all odds. She finds herself in the middle of not only a murder investigation but also a case of grand larceny. Adding to all the pressure, Addie's friends from the states are expecting her home within days. Can she solve these mysteries in time?
While A Limited Edition Murder takes place in a charming setting and has quite a few great main characters, I found that, overall, it wasn't my favorite cozy. There were simply too many characters who all related to each other in very complicated ways. I found myself having to keep skipping back to remember how each character was related to another. This confusion made the mystery a bit frustrating and hard to follow. Additionally, I couldn't really relate to Addie's back-and-forth on whether to go back to the States. She seems very happy and at peace in England, so why the need to go back just because her friends want her to? Finally, I didn't like the "cliffhanger" ending. It didn't feel right for a cozy.
While still nursing a broken heart, Addie Greyborne remains tucked away in the British moors working at the Second Chance Books and Bindery in West Yorkshire. Her dear friend, Tony, is soon to be married and has found a rough and battered early edition of Wuthering Heights, which he meticulously re-binds to give to his future bride. All is well until the local lord claims that the book is the one which was stolen from his library years before. Meanwhile, while Addie is out for a stroll on the moors with her Yorkipoo, Pippi, the two encounter a young woman's body which appears to have fallen to its death. It just happens to be an unknown "guest" who had been seen at the Tony and his beloved's engagement party. Can Addie again save the day and remove the specter of "murderess" from over Tony's fiancé's head and free her from the local jail?
This tenth book in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series is charming and well written. Author Lauren Elliott, has deftly crafted a whodunit with twists, turns and many a red herring. The dark and brooding moors create an air of anticipated nefarious doings. It is good to see Addie maturing from the earlier books in the series. However, this reader still finds her willful yet indecisive and dangling the emotions of friends at the end of a stick. The supporting cast remains charming and I loved their interaction with one another as well as their grace with Addie. I look forward to reading other stories by this author and of a maturing Addie within this series.
I am grateful to Kensington Publishing for having provided a free e-copy of this book through NetGalley. Their generosity, however, did not influence this review - the words of which are mine alone.

A Limited Edition Murder by Lauren Elliott takes us back to Addie who has escaped her life at home for a year’s respite in England. Her good friend, Tony, lived nearby and she worked for a funny little man named Pressman, who was a book restorer. Also working at the bookshop was a young man called Jasper, who was head-over-heals in love with Hailey, Tony’s fiancee. Pressman was working on a restoration of an early copy of Wuthering Heights as an engagement gift for Hailey. This book led to things getting really convoluted, especially after Addie and her small dog discovered a body on their morning walk. She then got to deal with the British constabulary, a not necessarily a positive experience.
Addie is a terrific character despite what she has been through (earlier books). She is a dedicated bibliophile and sleuth. The sleuthing hadn’t been especially welcome and apparently wasn’t here, either. She had made good friends and they were imbued with all the personality for which one would wish. It was a complicated crime, one deeply rooted in the past, always a challenge. Addie butted heads with the Detective Inspector sent to solve the crime, no surprise there, but her doggedness and compassion helped solve the crime. It was a compelling crime, featuring and old friend. Thanks, Lauren Elliott, for your dedicated loyalty to the cozy mystery genre.
I was invited to read A Limited Edition Murder by Kensington Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #KensingtonPublishing #LaurenElliott #ALimitedEditionMurder
I’ve heard of people nursing their wounds for a long time but Addie must’ve held the record for it, lol. She did have a traumatic experience in the previous book, and some people heal differently so it’s totally possible. I guess since she’s just never been a favorite main character of mine and always seemed a little immature or sometimes unfair to others, maybe I don’t cut her enough slack or something. But it seemed like a long time and kinda hiding from reality. I’m glad she took Pippi the pup with her—that sweet dog could cheer anyone up.
But Addie was a fiercely loyal friend as it turned out and as we all know from previous books. I liked her new friends but I really missed Paige, Katherine and Serena. One character Addie always compared to Mrs. Danvers actually became a good ally for her sleuthing toward the end. I was never really sure whodunit so I just kept reading and hoped eventually Addie might decide she needed her people at home. You’ll have to read and see if she stays in England or returns to Greyborne Harbor. 😉
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by Kensington Cozies via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.
If you’re a fan of cozy murder mysteries with a dash of nostalgia, "A Limited Edition Murder" by Lauren Elliott might just pique your interest. The tenth installment in Elliott's series brings us to the quaint village of Moorscrag, a place teeming with colorful characters and, naturally, a fair share of intrigue.
I'll admit, diving into this book without having read the previous ones was a bit like walking into a bustling village fair and trying to figure out who’s who. With a cast of characters larger than a small town census, keeping track of all the villagers was a bit of a challenge. That said, Elliott’s writing is inviting, and her storytelling has that classic "Murder She Wrote" charm, which makes getting lost in Moorscrag’s many subplots feel like part of the fun.
The mystery at the heart of the book is engaging, and Elliott knows how to keep the reader guessing. Addie is likeable and relatable, and her sleuthing feels both cozy and competent. While I didn’t feel an urgent connection to the series due to my late entry, it’s clear that long-time fans would find much to enjoy.
In summary, "A Limited Edition Murder" is a fine read. It's perfect for a lazy afternoon when you want something light yet intellectually engaging. If you're already familiar with Elliott’s series, you'll probably enjoy this latest mystery even more. And if not, well, it might just inspire you to start from the beginning and get to know Addie and her cast of friends and series regulars a bit better.
Wonderful addition to the Beyond The Page Bookstore Mystery series. Addie proves once again, no matter where she is she can still get involved in a murder. But she's in England, and the detective in charge isn't quite as amenable to her help as they are back home in Greyborne Harbor. Addie feels she had choice but to carry on with her investigation as two of her good friends are suspects. She certainly has her work cut for her trying to solve this mystery.
I enjoyed this book so much. Addie and her friends, both in West Yorkshire and Greyborne Harbor, are the heart of this book (and series). Yes, there's an interesting and entertaining mystery with plenty of unexpected and turns, but the characters and their interactions with each other are what really put this series at the top of my "Favorite Cozy Series" list. I'm already looking forward to book 11.
Many thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.
This is book 10 in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series and it has been and remains one of my favorite cozy mystery series. While they can be read as standalones I don’t recommend it as Addie’s relationships and personal life progresses greatly over the books. Given this I was a little confused as I started this one because it took place a year after Addie left to England and was established with new friends and companions that I was not familiar with. Overall I enjoyed the story quite a bit and did feel some Miss Marple vibes. Of course Addie being Addie stumbles over a murder and it was funny to watch her be seen in a completely different light by the British law enforcement folks. After the engagement party of her good friend and author Tony Addie stumbles upon the body of a guest of the party in the moors (an amazing setting for finding the body I must say). Addie feels interested in the case after finding the body but determined to solve it when Tony’s fiancé is held as the prime suspect. I thought this book was a good bridge from all that happened with Simon and I like that we didn’t need to sit through hundreds of pages of Addie’s sadness over it. I did guess the murderer and didn’t find any of the twists to be super out there twisty, but I thought they were fun. I liked the new characters in this one and the cameos from some beloved favorites. Always sad when I finish these books to know that I have a whole year to go to get to read the next one.
