I had high expectations for this book, as the first book in the series was amazing. You felt the connection between the characters immediately. In this book the connection between the characters seemed forced. The FMC wanted one foot in and one foot out and unless I missed it; it wasn't explained why. It made the interactions between both MC's confusing and forced.
I loved this book. This love story was sweet and lovely. This author never disappoints. I have adored this series so far.
This book was so cute. I need a cute romance book and this is perfect. I love that it was centered around the bakery. It was so cute and I loved the characters. The development of Sloane and August's relationship was cute and I love a slow burn romance.
This was a cute romance. I really love this series - romance and baking - a win for me! This story was definitely a slow burn - the characters had a connection since they were teenagers although one person didn't acknowledge it. Minimal smut if that's what you are into. Well written.
I love romance books that center around food, especially bakeries. I was so excited to read this book also because the cover is stunning. If you're looking for a smutty filled romance, this book is not for you. I enjoyed this story while I was reading it but the second I put it down I forgot nearly all the details, very run of the mill as far as this genre is concerned.
I loved this follow up to Fake it Til you Bake it. I may have liked thisu one more. IT had a touch more steam which I liked
Thanks NetGalley for the chance. Have to admit, I have been in a bit of a romance reading slump, so may be a bit overly jaded in my review, but felt the plot was not overly original and skimmed much of the book. As others have also mentioned, the slow burn felt a bit too slow and I also didn’t really feel all the flashbacks were necessary to the plot development. Some past tense chapters felt like formulaic placement just to hit a certain number of chapters set in past tense, versus moving the plot forward or providing meaningful insight into the characters’ shared history.
The writing of this book was well done, the parts that I did not enjoy were nothing against the writing itself. The author comes across as an accomplished and competent writing. I just had trouble connecting with the characters. I'm not going to post my ratings on goodreads or IG, I don't want to negatively affect the author since her writing was good, it just was not for me.
The biggest problem for me was that I had a hard time relating to the characters. They fell a little flat for me personally. August was a little boring and didn't make me lust like some MMCs, that is personal preference.
I would read more of her books, simply because I think perhaps this particular story was not for me.
I have one word for this book: ADORABLE! I didn’t realize it was the second in a series, but I am excited to go back and find out Donovan and Jada’s story in their book. The characters were well developed and lovable while still having very relatable flaws. It was a slow burn romance that ended in a beautiful way even if it seemed to drag a bit in the middle. This was a fun and quick breezy read. I saw someone else say it’s perfect for a beach or pool day and I wholeheartedly agree! A Legend in the Baking will def put a smile of your face. A solid 4/5 and has for sure made me a fan of the author. I guess I have entered into my cute romance era!
I loved this book and Sloane and August. I love that they have complicated lives and have found family in the people that matter to them. I love that in this book both Sloane and August grow as people which gives them a good start to their new relationship. I appreciated the spiciness as well. I didn’t realize this was the second book in this series so I just went and bought the first ebook. I will definitely be reading more books by this author.
Twelve years ago, August and Sloane forged a friendship, but sadly, it waned with time. As the story unfolds, we witness their attempts to reconnect, disguising their revived emotions.
While the story was pleasant and brief, the slow burn didn't quite suit my taste; it felt a bit drawn-out. The characters are great too.
This book was a very slow burn it sorta made me want to scream. We know that August and Sloane like each other from the very beginning since they’ve know each other for the past 12 years. So undoubtedly there was history.
Sloane is trying to take over a cupcake business. At some point the slow burn just got a little to slow and I hated it and skipped over some parts. The 2nd act breakup wasn’t really that big of a deal. It’s better to at least be creative
Solid 2.5/3 stars.

I devoured this slow-burn second chance romance in a day, it’s a perfect beach book! August and Sloane are charming and you can’t help but root for this baker and social media manager to realize they’re meant to be. This was the second book in a series but works as a stand-alone, and I didn’t miss a beat despite not reading the first book.
*Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review!
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a nice, easy, breezey, read in one sitting read. Can’t wait to read more of this authors books. I would recommend, yes
“A Legend in the Baking” by Jamie Wesley is the second in the “Fake It Till You Bake It” series. This book can easily be read as a stand-alone. This book follows August, a football player and co-owner of a cupcake business, and Sloane, his co-owner’s little sister and former - well, someone special. In other words, August and Sloane have history. This book starts off with a bang - Sloane getting fed up and quitting her job. Realizing that she needs to pay the bills, she goes job hunting - only to take a job were there’s a ‘contest’ between herself and the other interviewee to see who can raise the most marketing awareness for a brand. Sloane decides to accept her brother’s offer of helping the bakery - especially after August goes viral for a darn great speech he made one day. I really liked the first book in this series, so I was so pleased to be able to read this one. This book had its moments, but it didn’t make me fall in love with the characters and their situations. August is great - little to say, but when he says something, he means it. There’s history between the two characters, so there’s a slow burn … a very very slow burn at times.
"A Legend in the Baking" delivers exactly what it promises—a delectable blend of romance, humor, and cupcakes that leaves you craving more. From the first page to the last, I found myself utterly enchanted by August and Sloane's slow-burning romance.
The chemistry between August and Sloane is palpable, simmering beneath the surface as they navigate the complexities of their past and present. Sloane's determination to carve her own path in the world of social media, combined with August's unwavering honesty and integrity, creates a dynamic and compelling relationship that kept me eagerly turning the pages.
While some may find the pacing a touch leisurely, I appreciated the opportunity to savor each moment, allowing the romance to unfold organically and authentically. The conflicts they face may not be earth-shattering, but they resonate deeply, adding depth and emotional resonance to the story.
Overall, "A Legend in the Baking" is a delightful confection of a romance that left me smiling long after I turned the final page. With its charming characters, heartfelt storytelling, and mouthwatering descriptions of cupcakes, it's a treat for the soul that I highly recommend to anyone in need of a little sweetness in their life.
This love story takes its time to unfold. August and Sloane have liked each other for a long time. When they meet again after 12 years, they feel the same attraction they did before.
Sloane wants to get a job in social media and ends up working at her brother's cupcake shop.
I enjoyed the slow pace of the story, but sometimes it felt too slow. Also, the problems they face aren't very big, so it's not as exciting.
I liked hearing about the football players who became bakers again. This is the second book in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read this book before it comes out on November 19th, 2024.
This is one of those *very* slow burns sort of romance. We know from the get go that both August and Sloane have the hots for each other. They are lusting after each other in their hearts and minds from the moment they run into each other after having known each other 12 years before.
So there is the history there.
Sloane is trying to get hired as a social media mavin, and takes on her brother's company, a cup cake bakery.
I did like the slow burn, though at times it seemed a little too slow. Also, the conflict that might tear them apart wasn't that big a conflict. It is more fun to have a major this-will-never-work-out sort of thing.
Other than that, I did like reading about the football players turned bakers again, as this was the second book in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review. This book is coming out the 19th of November 2024.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read the second book set in the Sugar Blitz universe.
First things first, can we have a little applause for the gorgeous illustration on the cover??? Beautiful Black characters with braids and locs? Yes, please.
The story is a slow burn, dual POV romantic comedy featuring interesting takes on the brother’s best friend and forced proximity tropes. I connected with the main characters quickly and found their chemistry to be very believable, but I didn’t find myself laughing quite as much as I did in the previous book.
Still an overall enjoyable read. Highly recommend!
