Thank you to NetGalley/Tyndale House Publishers: I received an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review

Love in Tandem is a fun mix of forced proximity, fake dating, and charming chaos. Becca Kinzer crafts a clean Christian romance full of wit and warmth, giving readers a Hallmark movie-esque experience.

What I Liked:
Kinzer writes an adorably fun story of love and laughter. The tropes of forced proximity, fake dating and friends to lovers are all there so if those are your thing, this book is for you. The dual point of view really adds to the story, and despite the audiobook having only a single narrator for both POVs it's done quite well.

There's a great feel-good energy to the story, with clever dialogue and humorous situations that will leave readers grinning from ear to ear. This is a Christian romantic comedy which offers a fun, sweet and wholesome portrayal of love that's suitable for all readers. It is light in the religious aspect but there is portrayal of faith & faith-growth in the MCs.

What I Didn't Love as Much:
While Love in Tandem excels in delivering feel-good moments and heartwarming romance, there are many instances where the circumstances seem to resolve a little too conveniently. While this may contribute to the comedic aspect of the rom-com genre, it requires readers to suspend their disbelief a bit more than desired. However, this does not detract significantly and lends to the overall cheery theme of the novel.

While the book is marketed as a Christian romance, some readers may find that it strays from traditional Christian fiction tropes, (ie the MCs share a bed together without any concern). While this may not be an issue for all readers, it's worth noting for those seeking a strictly traditional Christian romance.

The Narration
The narration in Love in Tandem is done quite well from a single narrator. The narrators offers a smooth delivery free from any cringy character voices. The narration allows listeners to fully immerse themselves in the story. The pace and volume remain consistent throughout, providing a pleasant listening experience from start to finish and there is no unnecessary music or sound effects.

In conclusion, Love in Tandem is a charming and heartwarming read that delivers all the cozy feels of a Hallmark movie with a delightful Christian twist. If you are in need of a feel-good romance that will leave them smiling long after the final page pick this one up.

This wasn't it for me. I'm not sure if it's because the narrator became more theatrical as the story went on, or if it was just too out there, I don't know that I would recommend this to friends.

I liked the premise behind the book and I felt like it started off on a very strong foot. The banter was witty and I liked the storyline. That said, I feel like 25% of the novel could've been cut. There also wasn't enough character development. I didn't see or feel the connection between the two MCs and all of a sudden they were expressing their love for another.

I'd also recommend noting that there is a religious aspect to this book. It, again, felt very random. Like an afterthought.

Thank you to Netgalley & Tyndale House Publishers for an ARC audio of this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved this audio - the story was unique and had amazing banter. I loved all the ridiculous situations these two got into on this road trip. I laughed out loud muiltple times.

These two had so many cute moments, you can feel the love they have for each other.

I loved all the characters, and all the side stories. They were all hilarious, it gave me Meghan Quinn vibes.

It also had religious themes which wasn’t my favorite but other than that I loved it.

Happy publication day!!!

I really enjoyed this book! It was funny, witty, and had relatable characters. And I'm a sucker for a good fake dating storyline.

Charlotte is music teacher whose school is losing their funding for the music program. She is also still getting over her broken engagement to Zach's brother, Ben. Zach is an adventurer to the highest extreme, the complete opposite of Charlotte who dislikes anything outdoors. Through a series of misunderstandings and a need to prove the people in their lives wrong, they begin fake dating and enter a competition to win funding for the music program. And, of course, hilarity ensues throughout the journey. But we also meet some fun characters who help the pair on the way.

I did feel Sophia's chapters were kinda... not needed? I get why they were added because of the competition aspect. But I think she needed her own separate book, especially since she ended with her own romance. I was much more focused on Charlotte and Zach, even though Sophia was chaos personified.

This is a clean, Christian romance. There is light faith talk.

This was cute, lighthearted, cheesy to the point of hokey, and easy to read! I listened to the audiobook and adored it. It’s an easy listen, perfect for driving or cleaning around the house.

Love in Tandem is perfect if you want to read something that doesn’t take a lot of brainpower but that is still enjoyable. The plots are easy to predict, the characters are straightforward, and nothing too bad happens (there’s some romance issues prior to the book, but on-page there’s nothing too negative).

It’s easy and sweet. <3

Oh my gosh, what a romp! Literally laugh out loud funny. If you're looking for a wholly diverting, silly, fun, romantic novel I highly recommend Becca Kinzer's Love in Tandem.

Such interesting characters, with complex relationships, and the zany situations will have you in stitches. I enjoyed every moment of this wonderful story.

The audio version of Love in Tandem is beautifully performed by the wonderful C.J. Bloom.

Love in Tandem is a fun, light-hearted romance. While the ending is somewhat predictable, it was a joy to listen.

I don’t even know where to start…except to say that I laughed my way through the entire book. And not just mild bubbles of mirth but frequent full out belly laughs which leads me to my first reader warning: Do not read this book in public. I did, since I walk and listen, and I was enthusiastically enjoying C.J. Bloom’s narration which resulted in staccato bursts of chuckles, high-pitched peels of laughter, and even the occasional oh so embarrassing snort chortle which caused dogs to bark and pedestrians to cross over to the other side of the street. My standing in the neighbourhood is now in question but I don’t even care.

So – 5 stars plus a billion more! Impeccable comedic pacing delivered masterfully by the narrator to bring the most impact and ensure my 15 facial smile muscles got a coordinated workout. All the way through. And it never got absurd…well, okay it did but it didn’t feel like it. The way Charlotte and Zach’s situation snowballed out of control made for an epic farce. Excellent combination of physical comedy and smart banter with a healthy dose of zaniness just because.

But there’s so much heart in this story too. Emotional depth and great character development as Zach and Charlotte wrestle with angst and past trauma. Somehow the author manages to strike the right balance between the heavy and the light which made ‘Love in Tandem’ not only an entertaining read, but an impactful one as well.

Love a good fake dating trope with all the ensuing romantical complications and this one is outstanding! Plus, we’re given a secondary plot line featuring Charlotte’s sister which was just as compelling and a whole lot quirky. These sisters don’t know how to do ‘normal.’

As I mentioned, I listened to the audio edition and I really think C.J. Bloom’s performance amped up my ‘reading’ enjoyment that much more. Brilliant choice of narrator and she did these characters justice.

My thanks to the publisher, RB Media and Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.

YES YES YES!!! I cannot say enough good about this audiobook!! It was so good I listened to the entire book in one day. The narration is amazing, the storyline keeps you hooked, and the book includes imperfect people walking out an imperfect life. Kinzer keeps you invested in the characters and laughing and groaning as they bumble their way to the finish line of a once in a lifetime challenge on a tandem bike. An absolute must read more than once!

Another great book by Becca Kinzer! I can’t stop thinking about this book! Charlotte and Zach had so many great adventures and taught me so valuable lessons. I found myself laughing and cheering them on as they embarked on their journey. I also love that this book was inspired by a tandem bicycle trip the author took with her husband.

This started off good but lost its appeal along the way. At one point I was bored with it and paused to listen to another book. After coming back to it I was still bored and wanted it to be done. Thought about moving it to my dnf pile around 53% but I stuck it out. The story was a bit confusing flipping between the sister's point of view. Charlotte was annoying to the point I didn't understand why Zach was interested in her. Sadly I have to give this one 2 stars.

Thank you to Tyndall House and Recorded Books Audio along with NetGalley for allowing me this early listen.

Charlotte Carter is a music teacher who has just found out that her music program is in danger. Zach Bryant is an adventurer and brother of Charlotte's ex-fiancé and he’s is town for his brother’s wedding. It just so happens that the brother is marrying Zach’s ex-girlfriend. Charlotte and Zach run into each other with a little accidental help from Charlotte’s sister. Somehow Charlotte finds herself involved in the wedding and pretending to be Zach’s date. Then a couple’s challenge with $250,000 prize is posted from the town’s elderly recluse. The challenge requires a couple in a committed relationship to make a 500 mile bike ride on a tandem bike down the Natchez Trace. Charlotte’s sister signs them up. This is where the adventure begins. Can Charlotte and Zach survive?

This book, in true Becca Kinzer fashion, is very much filled with humor. There are many laugh out loud moments. However, I do not think it quite as funny as her first book. I loved both romance plot lines as well as the twist in the end concerning Charlotte’s parents.

The faith content in this book is medium. We definitely see character growth in this area.

The audiobook was well done. It is narrated by C.J. Bloom. She did a wonderful job. She has the perfect almost snarky tone that the book needed. She kept my interest from the beginning to the end. I can listen to almost any narrator without issue but I love it when the narrator matches the character.

In conclusion, I would recommend this book to anyone needing a great lighthearted romance. If you don’t like books full of laugh out loud moments, you should definitely steer clear of this book.

Love. Family. Cancer. Friendship. Heartbreak.

A schoolteacher that will stop at nothing to give her students the education in music they deserve. A quiet little life in a quiet little town, happy and content. Her work is all that she requires.

An adventurer with an insatiable thirst for wanderlust. Camping and solo riding life is all that he needs or would ever want. A little life is the opposite of his every want and every desire. But sometimes, love reshapes our needs and responsibilities.

With all things considered, this is a very clean very Christian romance. I am so used to the high fantasy and complicated worlds that this easy rom-com, contemporary romance is just the trick to make me grin and enjoy the ride.

I liked Charlotte Carter and her story, her tenacity. Zach Bryant also had a sad story, finding his own true love leaving him for his brother. That is painful and so terribly terribly wrong on so many levels. Very cute, very tame 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Stars!

Love In Tandem was such a cute romcom. It was told in 3rd person with multiple POVs.

- small town
- fake dating
- ex-fiance's brother
- forced proximity
- cross country tandem bicycle trip
- quasi treasure hunt
- opposites attract
- he falls first

Charlotte and Zach find themselves accidentally fake dating while attending a wedding. Ben is Zach's brother and Charlotte's ex-fiance and he is getting married to Zach's ex-almost-fiancee. Zach is Ben's best man, and somehow Charlotte accidentally ends up as the maid of honour when the original maid of honour goes down for the count. This was such a hilarious and unfortunate way to kick off the story.

But this fake dating scenario leads to Zach helping Charlotte fundraise to help save her school music program. Zach is an outdoor enthusiast full of wanderlust, while Charlotte is more reserved and comfortable in her small town lifestyle. But when the opportunity presents itself to raise $250,000 for the music program when a quirky old rich man offers a challenge for a couple to ride a tandem bicycle 500 miles - Charlotte finds herself relying on her outdoorsy fake boyfriend while he finds himself fighting his developing feelings for Charlotte.

When Charlotte's sister learns that the rich man funding the tandem bike challenge dies while her sister is out biking to earn the money, she turns it into her mission to find out whether the money will still be awarded to her sister and where that money is, but also finds herself falling for the guy who is helping her figure it all out.

I adored this book. There were so many cute and funny moments. The character and relationship development was perfect. These were flawed characters relying on faith and determination to push through these challenges. Zach and Charlotte have two completely different lifestyles they find themselves looking inward to determine whether they could make a relationship work outside of their tandem road trip.

C.J. Bloom has become one of my favourite narrators. She always provides a dynamic and entertaining performance. She can truly do no wrong in my opinion.

Thank you to RB Media and NetGalley for the advanced audiobook copy!

Charlotte is a music teacher that is danger of losing her job if more grant money doesn't come in for her position. She and Zach (Charlotte's ex-fiance's brother) deicide to fake date in order to enter a couple's tandem bike riding competition because the prize is $25,000 - which could save our FMC's job and help our MMC out of a tough financial situation.

This was described as Christian fiction, but I found it a bit too lacking in depth on the topic of faith than what I was expecting. Though I will say Zach's view on his faith is pretty realistic for those struggling in their faith so I appreciated that.

Aside from that, this was a really cute, wholesome read! I was laughing a lot as I listened to this audiobook. I think the audio was perfect for the humor to land as well as it did.

I also loved that this story takes place in Illinois and more specifically, not Chicago 😅 as a central Illinois girlie that was greatly appreciated!

Honestly a tandem bike riding competition with an FMC that doesn't like exercise made for some hilarious moments! I definitely recommend for a nice, quick read that include Christian characters.

What to expect-

🚲 Ex-fiance's brother
❤️ Close proximity
🚲 Tandem bike competition
❤️ Fake dating
🚲 Clean romance
❤️ Opposites attract

As an avid fan of opposites-attract romances, stumbling upon “Love In Tandem” by Becca Kinzer felt like discovering a hidden gem. Delving into the synopsis, I anticipated a delightful journey, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Kinzer masterfully crafts the story of Charlotte Carter, a small-town music teacher facing the threat of her beloved school’s music program closure. Charlotte’s determination to save the program resonated with me, showcasing her resilience in the face of adversity.

The dynamic between Charlotte and Zach Bryant, the adventurous wanderer, added layers of complexity and intrigue to the narrative. Their accidental coupling and subsequent tandem bicycle escapade provided moments of both humor and heartfelt connection, making their journey truly unforgettable.

One aspect I particularly enjoyed was the inclusion of Charlotte’s sister, Sophia, whose subplot added depth to the overall storyline. Though not as extensively explored as the primary plot, Sophia’s presence enriched the narrative, offering a glimpse into the bonds of family and sisterhood.

In conclusion, “Love In Tandem” is a charming tale of love, adventure, and unexpected connections. Becca Kinzer’s narrative prowess, coupled with C.J. Bloom’s impeccable narration, makes it a must-read (or listen) for romance aficionados seeking a heartwarming escape.

The Narration:

Listening to the audiobook, narrated by C.J. Bloom, was a delightful experience. Bloom’s light-hearted tone and engaging delivery brought the characters to life, making it a joy to immerse myself in the story. I wholeheartedly recommend the audiobook format to fellow enthusiasts of this genre.

I received an advanced copy of this audiobook from the publisher but the thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.

A challenge not only to raise fund for a music program but also to a road trip in a bicycle tandem will bring Charlotte and Zach together. If they are ready to face their demons and open their hearts. Fun, and inspiring love and life story. The audiobook, with C. J. Bloom is absolutely beautiful.

Thank you RB Media and NetGalley for the audiobook.

Love in Tandem is a Christian romcom about Charlotte, a school teacher who is trying to secure funding for the school music program in her small town, and Zach, an athletic adventure-seeking young man who has returned to his hometown for his brother’s wedding. They both find themselves in an unexpected situation forcing them into faking a relationship. Shenanigans ensue and they embark upon a tandem biking challenge for a huge financial reward.

Pros: The story is cute and funny, with popular tropes of the genre such as forced proximity, fake dating, and with good chemistry and banter between the two leads. The book progresses at a good pace. The mentions of religion, faith, God, and prayers are not excessively frequent (although people do call each other pilgrim once in a while) and does not impact the storyline very much.

Cons: I found the sequence of events that led the two protagonists to cross paths quite ridiculous and silly - almost unbelievable. If you are a fan of cringe humor, you will enjoy some of the scenes in this book (unfortunately, I am not). The characters are very childish for their age, and often behaves in ways that would be considered not appropriate in today’s society. There was a storyline from a third character’s perspective (Charlotte’s sister) which glorifies borderline stalkerish and entitled behaviour. I know this may sound nit-picky, but the narrative voices and tone of the internal monologues of the two protagonists are identical to each other, to the extent where I often found myself wondering whether I was reading from Charlotte or Zach’s perspective.

Overall, if you have a few hours to kill, and are looking for a very clean and cute Hallmark movie-esque romcom, this will do the job.

Adorable. I loved Zach & Charlotte both. Charlotte is just so endearing. This book felt like the perfect mix of romance and laughs. It had me laughing out loud quite a few times. Perfectly pace to make you just want to keep on reading. The side characters were all great, I loved her sister Sophia. I am not religious nor do I read many closed doors romance but this book was super enjoyable. Great audio too, the narrator was really engaging and did a great job with all the characters. First read by this author and it won’t be my last. I was given an ALC of this book and my opinions are my own.

5 SUMMER LOVIN STARS
This is the book you need to read right now! It was such a breath of fresh air reading Charlotte and Zack take off on an adventure of a lifetime! This was the Rom-Com I was craving! Sparks were flying all over the place with these two, and I mean that in a way where their relationship was so dynamic. The banter was spot on, in fact I think she out bantered the queen of banter (Emily Henry). This book was a great escape from "life". It was the book I could sit down with a big cup of coffee and devour. What I enjoyed most was the feel-good-clean romance that happened. They held strong to their values and spoke about their faith. I thought the author did a great job of building their relationship and showing that in this day and age you can have major chemistry and deep love without getting physical. Although these two did get VERY physical on their tandem bike! HAHA I could almost feel the terrible chaffing and sore butt Charlotte got from her 500 mile bicycle ride. This book was awesome and I would love to see some more books about some of the side characters!
Thank you thank you thank you Net Galley for giving me the opportunity to read this advanced copy. You introduced me to my 2 new favorite literary characters! I was not influenced in exchange for this honest review.
Go Get this Book when it publishes April 2, 2024
