A very odd book. Tries to connect Norse Gods to the outer planets, which there seems to be little text or reason to support. The descriptions of the planetary attributions do not follow contemporary astrological descriptions and the shifting back and forth from Norse myth to Greek myth felt forced.

I want to personally thank NetGalley and the Publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read this in advance in place of an honest review.

This book was really good, but not what I was entirely expecting. However, I was unable to put it down from the very start. If you are interested or new to Norse Mythology, or Norse deities than this is a good book for you to dip your toes in and get a solid handle on it all. I not a novice, nor am I a professional at knowing the deities I worship, and I still found aspects in this book that I did now know. The author added in an astrology aspect, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. The cover is gorgeous, and I personally feel that it would be a great addition to any pagan's collection.

I really enjoyed this book. It's more psychological than Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology, comparing the Norse gods to Greek and Roman gods in a way that I haven't seen before. Not quite as entertaining as Gaiman, but it's got more explanation and a good breakdown of the culture that these stories were created in.

Per Henrik Gullfoss has an interesting and unique concept for this book. I feel it may have gone better however if he hadn’t tried to put so many concepts into such a short book.

This is definitely a book to read if you already have knowledge of Norse Mythology. I thankfully do but even then it’s a little much when myths are being retold and names are thrown in with no explanation of who they are.

There is clearly a lot of knowledge being imparted here but I feel overall it’s just a bit too tangled.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Eye of Odin by Per Henrik Gullfoss is a captivating exploration of Norse mythology that intrigued me. While I'm relatively new to this rich tapestry of lore, I found Gullfoss's book an invaluable resource for beginners and enthusiasts.

One aspect that truly stood out was how the book provided a fresh perspective on astrology, weaving Norse deities into the cosmic narrative. This innovative approach deepened and transformed my understanding of astrology, igniting new avenues for exploration and reflection.

Although I've only read the book once, I plan to revisit it and take copious notes. Gullfoss's writing is informative and engaging, making it easy to immerse oneself in the world of Norse mythology.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend "The Eye of Odin" to anyone interested in Norse mythology. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just beginning to explore this fascinating realm, Gullfoss's book offers valuable insights and a fresh perspective.

I sincerely thank NetGalley and Crossed Crow Books for providing me with an e-ARC of "The Eye of Odin" in exchange for my honest review.

This book was far deeper and eve more interesting than I'd expected. I find Norse mythology quite interesting, but don't know much about it. This seemed like it gave a "high view" explanation of the important aspects of Norse mythology, but then coupled that with more "in depth" explanations of how each aspect of this mythology is coupled with the physical, mental and spiritual planes. I had no previous knowledge of these connections and I found them truly fascinating to read about how everything is connected in some way. There were parallels in here to Greek mythology and even Christianity, which I found incredible.

I absolutely enjoyed this book
It’s extremely informative for anyone who is following a Norse/ Heathern path. It also gave me a different way to look at astrology with the Norse deities and really work with them in that way. I am so grateful for this book and the knowledge that I have learned.

Truly this book is awesome in its theories and actual explanations of how the author got his ideas. The thoughts of the Norse Gods being planet oriented never really crossed my mind but after reading this it makes a lot of sense. I wish I would have read this many years ago as it explained some of my questions about how the Gods got their formation and what maybe the people really thought of them. While this book is magnicent in its scope it is focused on present morals and our ancestors didnt really know about nor care about many of the thoughts given IMO. I really like this book and it is worth a place on my shelf in my library as it is IMO inspired in its explanations.
