Interesting read. Normally not into reading this genre but heard about it from some friends and decided to try. It was almost like a love letter to Italy.
This is one of my new favorite travel books. 'You Deserve Good Gelato' is part travel memoir and part travel guide. While it focuses on Italy, considering that's where Kacie lives, the tips she shares are applicable for any country.
As someone who has lived abroad before, I found myself nodding along to some of the experiences and tips she shared. I was also shocked to hear some advice that usually isn't shared, like how it is okay to give yourself a mental break now and then when learning a new language.
If you love Kacie's social media content, you are sure to love this book. It has all the heart and humor that she shares online.
Thank you to the publisher for the e-copy.
I’ve been following Kacie on Instagram for quite a while now, and wondered how her book would compare to the stories and experiences I’ve seen her share. This retelling of how she decided to take a solo trip to Italy and the events that unfolded because of it felt completely fresh and was filled with anecdotes I’d missed on social media. Part memoir, part practical travel guide, and part self-help by way of conquering your fear, You Deserve Good Gelato was a worthwhile read for sure!
It was a cute book. Prior to reading it, I didn't know much about the author. So I went in fairly blind. It was a fun read. Light hearted, informational. I really enjoyed it
I've been following Kacie's journey for a long time and was elated when I found out she had a book coming out! I did the audiobook version and read parts as well - it was exactly what I hoped for after being along for the ride for so long
Highly recommend!
The cover is the best part of this book. I think I was hoping for more, but You Deserve Good Gelato was just ok to me. It was an easy read, but very basic and more self-promoting than self-discovering. I may not be the target market. I think it would be fun for young girls just out of school.
Right book, right time.
Kacie Rose moved to Italy and did the shit that scared her. This is her inspiring story of how she did it and how you should too.
I needed this read right now. I'm in a bit of a rut and needed to hear this motivation to do new things. Definitely recommend this quick short read.
Thank you to Netgalley for an eARC of this lovely book!
Very beautiful cover and exciting debut. If you are a seasoned traveler this one may not be your cup of tea. I didn't connect or feel inspired as the information didn't feel helpful or new to me.
A part travelogue, part self- help book, there are many tips about traveling alone in Europe for single women. I have read many similar anecdotes before and felt this was not offering new info or ideas.
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC in exchange to honest review.
As someone who is in need of good wanderlust but unfortunately can’t travel at the moment this book was a fantastic way of not experiencing FOMO. Kacie takes you along for the ride and you get to live vicariously through her travels and experiences. A must read!
You Deserve Good Gelato by Kacie Rose. This is definitely a different genre than I normally read, but I’m so glad I read it. I’ve been following Kacie’s journey for a while now, and she’s such a genuine human!
What a great read, honestly, it was so inspirational. Not only does Kacie outline her experiences taking the leap and solo traveling, she discusses serious life lessons that can be crucial for happiness.
Doing shit that scares you, embracing help from others, brushing off judgements from others, etc. We all experience these things and it’s important to remember that at the end of the day if you’re who you want to be, that’s all that matters.
I truly appreciated her willingness to share her struggles, rather that be a language barrier or extreme homesickness. It shows that she is human with real emotions and so are you and I. Great great book!
Just a note that this book isn’t available to download to your kindle which I know is a deal breaker for some.
When I saw this book I immediately felt it was a book I needed to read. But, unfortunately I didn’t connect with the stories or the authors journey. I wish that it was more upfront about her moving to Italy during Covid because of her Italian partner, with the current description I thought the stories would be a lot more self discovery and more travel based. I also didn’t really like how heavy it was in American and Italian stereotypes.
If you’re looking for some short stories with random quotes and very basic beginner tips to Italy, this book could be for you.
I deeply regret that I will be unable to review this title as it is not accessible to Kindle. This is my own fault for not checking before requesting, apologies to both the author and publisher. Best of luck for the success of this book, I am confident that it will be a winner. I love a travel memoir, and the cover is wonderful!
