I loved the idea of this -- big hippie music festival attacked by vampires. I didn't really like the execution.
The first problem was the main character, Alix. We're supposed to think she's beautiful and confident but she's mean, even to her friends. I think we were supposed to like her because of her physical attributes, but that's not enough.
The story itself was full of plot holes and there were some continuity problems, which I don't mind as much because vampires aren't real anyway, but it made for a confusing read. That said, there was a lot that was predictable.
I liked the author's underlying themes, and it was exciting for the most part. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

If you haven't read anything by Rektok Ross before then you are in for a huge treat with Spring Harvest!

As everyone knows, music festival vibes are on point.
But things at the Garlic Groove Musical Festival are off to a weird start from the very beginning.
But why focus on the weird when you can focus on your fit?
But things quickly become far too weird, and scary, for anyone to avoid...

Read this if you love Cochella vibes or are a pink horror girlie!

CW:
Onpage and off page death, mentions of child death, blood, gore, emergency field medicine.

I hate to say this was a DNF for me. I got through 64% and sadly lost interest. There were vampires of sorts and Coachella vibes. Very teenage angsty and I just don't think that I could get into it. Maybe it was my mood at the time and perhaps I will revisit. I just remember it being slow. Just couldn't keep my attention enough to keep going.

Spring Harvest follows Alix and her friends as they attend a popular music festival, looking forward to a weekend full of music and partying. What they don't expect though, is that the town the festival takes place in has a dark secret - it's overrun by bloodthirsty vampires who start picking the attendees off one by one.

This was a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat book, perfect for fans of The Vampire Diaries and True Blood!

A group of friends go to the Garlic Groove Festival, a music festival in the middle of nowhere. Of course, things go wrong… in the form of a vampire attack. The characters in this book were insufferable. I wanted them all to die. Annoying dialogue is used unnecessarily, and then other scenes were explained with long paragraphs that could have been better illustrated with dialogue. The timeline didn’t make sense, this could have been more suspenseful in a tighter setting. I have more complaints, such as the fact that an authors note explains that this is supposed to be a metaphor for animal cruelty, but it actually felt like a case study on how people get caught up in appearances. Ultimately, just skip this book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Spring Harvest is a wild ride of a supernatural thriller! Lots of horror vibes and characters to root for in a vivid setting. I really enjoyed this one. Many thanks to the publisher for the e-arc.

You could say I’m hardcore in my Vampire era!
I loved this book a lot!
Actually when I first heard of this book I only saw a quick blurb not the full synopsis (I sometimes don’t read synopsis I like fully going in blind) so I was pleasantly surprised this had Vampires!

It’s not a spoiler because it’s literally in the first sentence of the synopsis as being compared to Coachella meets The Vampire Diaries and honestly it’s because of this book that I finally decided to dive into the Vampire Diaries show (with it being compared to it and never seeing it I wouldn’t know how to accurately review this!) and I’m truly loving this show! But I feel like this was a good mix of Twilight and The Vampire Diaries!

Despite it being called spring Harvest this is a perfect summer thriller I would definitely add this to your TBR. I loved Alix and Kaden! (Very Elena and Stefan or Bella and Edward).
Alice was a strong female lead and I loved her!
I surprisingly loved all her friends they made me laugh at times (except Jenny).

After reading the acknowledgements something I thought to myself was sort of confirmed in a way and I don’t want to spoil it but it made me love this authors work more and was so unique to incorporate into the story it’s a topic I myslef have thought a lot about. I don’t think I’ve seen an author incorporate something like that into the story and be able to sort of pick up on it was cool.

I honestly loved this it was a fun concept executed very well and it had Vampires *chefs kiss*
4.5 stars!

An Entertaining old school teen horror type novel (think scream) a nice quick read, good for a palette cleanser in between some longer titles

Spring Harvest by Rektok Ross was very suspenseful. A group of friends take a road trip to a music festival... insert vampires, need I say more. Great characterizations and conflict points from page one. Very cinematic and engaging.

Rektok Ross is the new R.L. Stine. I grew up reading Fear Strret and point horror. She nails it with Spring Harvest. This is a great horror/thriller book for young adults. The beginning was a little slow but then the pace picked up. I loved the way the author built the relationships!

Spring Harvest is a campy, bloody treat that will likely appeal to fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Kayla Cottingham's "This Delicious Death." In this fast-paced, Bonnaroo-meets-"The Vampire Diaries" supernatural thriller, Kade plays the broody Angel to Alix's upbeat Buffy, perfectly balancing horror with romance.

Much like your favorite 80s horror flicks, the characters are far from the sharpest tools in the shed. You'll find yourself screaming at them through your Kindle to avoid splitting up and to please just heed the locals' warnings to leave town. The main plot twist is blindingly apparent from its introduction, yet these party kids remain blissfully unaware and are shocked when the truth is eventually revealed.

Alix starts off vapid and superficial but undergoes substantial character growth, with a redemption arc that's both satisfying and admirable. While she may have you rolling your eyes at first, you'll be cheering her on enthusiastically by the end!

My only real criticism is that some plot threads felt unresolved, leaving me with lingering questions. Additionally, Spring Harvest reads a bit more like a YA novel than the Adult Fiction which it was categorized as, but I actually didn't especially mind that and found that it contributed to making this an effortless, enjoyable reading experience.

Thanks to NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, & Ic13 Books for the ARC!

Oh my goodness Spring Harvest was such a fun read!!!

A a GIANT Vampire connoisseur, I really enjoyed the overall plot of the story and I was on my toes the entire time!!! I loved how the FMC (Alix) was so confident and so expressive in her style, fashion and not afraid to speak her truth.

How awkward would it be to have to go to a festival with your recent ex because the tickets were already bought (SO FREAKING RELATABLE) then all of the sudden the entire festival turns into a survival of the fittest situation and now not only do you have to lean on your ex for safety but also a mysterious stranger that has saved yours and your besties life?!

I LOVED how the author portrayed Vampirism in such a fresh perspective and I also loved how she included the age old tale of a vampire kryptonite aka GARLIC into the story.

As someone who typically enjoys series, I was so NOT ready to see this book end as I was really enjoying the world building the post apocalyptic vibes and juicy romance that was brewing.

Overall this was a super fun and light vampire read. I can't wait to see what else Rektok comes up with and will be instantly reading, especially if it incorporates my fav. VAMPIRES again!!!

I devoured this book in a day. It even came back to haunt me in my dreams, but in a fun, must escape for my life kinda way! (many of dreams are apocalyptic, but somehow fun & maybe I am revealing too much about me!). So, I will recommend this book to anyone that's a fan of the supernatural and/or music festivals! Hopefully we'll get another chance to visit the Garlic Groove Music Festival!

This is the second book I’ve read from this author and, just like “Summer Rental,” I absolutely loved it. This author knows how to build a story without bogging you down with unnecessary details. Ross is creative, entertaining, and has quickly become a fave. “Spring Harvest” caught my eye with the comparison to Vampire Diaries - I LOVE anything with vampires. Add vampires to a music festival and it was a winner. Some of the characters were annoying, but they were meant to be. It all felt so realistic even though it was a supernatural story, and that really gave it a creepy, but fun feel. Big thumbs up and will be posting about it to spotlight! Thanks so much for the opportunity to read!

I mean come on. A music festival with vampires! What more do you want for a summer read?! Fast paced and easy to read. Definitely check this one out!

I liked it as it's a fast paced and well plotted story with echoes of some of the best vampire YA stories.
I wasn't a huge fan of Alix, even if I don't know why, but I appreciated the fleshed out characters
Well plotted and good storytelling.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I finished this last night. Rektok Ross is quickly becoming a favorite author. I loved Summer Rental, and I really loved this one.

Spring Harvest is about a group of college students who go to a rural music festival that gets overrun by vampires.

I loved everything about this book. I loved the atmosphere. I loved all the characters. It was really enjoyable and fast-paced.

I need a sequel, lol 😆

If I was meant to be scared, Good job! This was a heart racing read. I found it to be a fast read and enjoyed every part of it, even when I had to stop because I’m home alone. I loved the cattiness and back stabbing, made the story true and real. This could be a standalone but there is also room for a series as well.
