I'm a huge fan of vampire novels and this one didn't disappoint, addictive and entertaining this was everything it promised to be, Coachella meets The Vampire Diaries, I mean, perfection right? The pacing and overall plot was great and the characters were multidimensional, I want a whole series please this was amazing!

This is the second book I have read by Rektok Ross and I am obsessed with her style of writing in this genre! Every now and then I step outside my box and dive into a supernatural horror. This novel has all the vibes - a fast paced action packed totally unrealistic but yet captivating read!

Essentially, a group of friends are heading to a music festival. The Garlic Groove Music Festival is hosted in the middle of no where amongst the farm fields in Oregon. The characters all have their own unique personalities and it is easy to establish who is who. The story is told from the perspective of main protagonist Alix.

On the first night of the festival, things start to go awry and a dark, mysterious and good looking guy, Kade, warns Alix not to come back the next night. Of course, Alix is like "whatever" and so they go back for day two of the festival. The event turns into chaos as unexplained things begin to happen. People are rushing out, people are going missing. From this moment, the book is all about survival.

The book can get quite graphic and has it's share of gore. There is a lot of blood, murder, mayhem and there are inferences children are being eaten by vampires. If you are triggered by these things, probably avoid this one. If you are intrigued and triggers aren't an issue. I recommend this fast read!

Four stars because the ending.....sigh. I have so many questions, I need an epilogue!

What a wild ride! Thoroughly entertaining. I read this book quickly and devoured the pages. It reminded me of an old school horror film such as Scream or Freddy Krueger.

I enjoyed much of this book. It was a quick read and it was never boring. I feel like some parts of it were a bit cheesy. But if you look at it as an old school horror film it's entertaining and fun. I felt the dialogue was a bit forced sometimes. But overall I give it 3 stars.

This book has made me want to read more from this author and I will. It is a great fast summer slasher read that keeps you on the edge of your seat just enough to keep you wanting more. In all honesty this book is not MY kind of book, it is not something that I choose to read for myself but it is a book that I can sell, an author I can sell and it is the genre that the teens a loving right now.
Teen murders are in, the romances are out.

Retook Ross has a brilliant way of writing thriller/horro books. The pace and dialogue always keep her books moving quickly. I'm alway amazed how fast I read them. There's never a moment where I feel the story dragging. I am gibbed from the first page.

I really loved how addictive this book was! I never knew what was going to happen. I love how Alix is pretty, high maintenance, comes off not so nice sometimes, yet is such a kick ass character! All the characters came alive. This book set an atmosphere that I could smell, taste, and almost touch!

This is an unputdownable book! I don't want to give any spoilers, just read this! If you love thrillers, vampires, and amazing twists this book is for you!

When a group of friends travel to a small Oregon town for a music festival, not everything is as it seems in the sleepy little town. The relentless heat wave brings things to life that are better off left dormant. The music festival is quickly forgotten, replaced by the need to just stay alive! The author paints a literary landscape that keeps you hooked until the very last page with unexpected plot twists! A must read.

I received an ebook copy of this book through the author and NetGalley. I gave this book 5 stars.

So funny story, I had a couple arcs I needed to read through NetGalley. I thought I had clicked on a different arc but I was actually reading Spring Harvest. I was almost 75% through when I realized it was Sitting Harvest. But that shows how invested I was in the book! I was obsessed and reading it every spare moment I could.

This book is about Alix and her friends going to a music festival in a small town. Alix and her best friend Zoey are the regular beautiful, popular high school girls. Where Zoey is more kind and caring, Alix is pretty self centered and can be a mean girl. Although she is definitely a flawed character, I love the way she was written.

On the second night of the music festival a slaughter starts happening. We find out there are actually vampires in this small town, and due to a drought, the garlic harvest was very low this year, and this is what kept the vampires away in the past.

Along the way the group of friends pick up a few strays. Kade is the dark, mysterious hot high schooler, and Frog is also a high schooler that has waited his whole life for something like this to happen.

Most of the book is the group trying to survive the attack while finding out more info along the way. I loved every single minute of this book. It had me at the edge of my seat! I WAs totally invested in all the characters! Now I’m just hoping and praying Rektok Ross will write a second a book!

This was my first book by this author but I am definitely going to read all of her work!

I was hooked from page one , and you will be too if you love:
- Vampires; especially one as a love interest
- Mean Girls
- 80's -90's classic horror movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre but with Vampires
- A Music Festival like Coachella
Huge thank you to the author , Netgalley and Once Upon a Time tours for my #gifted copy.

Alix as a main FMC redeemed herself, for most of the book I was wanting her to be eliminated. She just was a horrendous character. I know this was the author's intention; a vapid social butterfly only looking for her own self-gratification. Much like Ski Weekend we have the characters in a van like a Scooby Doo ( minus Scooby) trip, and the first place they stop " the last gas station for miles " they are told to turn around. " When they arrive in the Garlic Capital of the country ( how cute right? The town actually thought this would ward the vampires away) the group meets Kade a mysterious extremely pale concert goer. He seems to be everywhere Alix goes. He also tells her to leave. But who believes him ? None of them.

This was one heck of a roller coaster of a book. Once the first scream, the first death it was a non stop jump scare , fight for their life . There are twists and turns of characters, Jenny who seemed meek and a follower surprised me and not in a good way.
I still have questions about Kade that weren't answered within the book; which is why this isn't five stars. I felt there was more the author should have given us about his backstory that wasn't explained.

For lovers of games like Dead By Daylight or Left for Dead the action in this book rivals the mazes to remain a survivor. I truly hope the ending means there is a book two in the works as I cant believe it is the last time we will see Kade, and the question remains, are Vampires taking over the world like Zombies took over in the Walking Dead? I will be eagerly waiting to find out.
Easily the best NA thriller of 2024.

The Garlic Groove music festival was supposed to be a fun time with friends. Music, food, alcohol, maybe some light drug use. But what it turned into was a blood bath! The moment we meet the old man at the gas station warning them away, I was all in. It’s clear that Rektok Ross is a horror movie fan. That gas station scene gave off ‘Cabin in the Woods’ vibes. And I have no doubt Frog was a less than subtle nod to the Frog Brothers from the classic Lost Boys. This is a fun, fast paced horror story. Overall I really enjoyed this once, it’s total silly escapism, but I can help noting that at least at the start I was not a fan of Alix. Ross’s depiction of her just rubbed me the wrong way, but the overall story made it easy to overlook and I’ll admit she grew on me. This is now the second book I’d read by Rektok and I’ve enjoyed them both. I’ll definitely check out whatever she puts out in the future. I’d like to thank Ic13 Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC of Spring Harvest.

Thank you Netgalley, Rektok Ross, and Victory editing Netgalley co-op for the ebook! This book was a mix of twilight meets Coachella vibes. The Garlic festival was so clever and I enjoyed the action and thrills in this vampire apocalyptic end of times tale. I do hope there will be more to come!

Beautiful, confident, and freshly single Alix Summerlin and her friends are ready for the ultimate party weekend at the Garlic Groove Music Festival in remote little farm town Allium Valley. Her biggest worries are what designer outfits to wear each night and managing the post-breakup tension with her sweet-but-brooding ex, Logan. But when festival-goers start vanishing, and Kade—a mysterious, handsome stranger—warns Alix to flee town, she begins to suspect something sinister is at work.

As the festival descends into chaos, Alix discovers the town’s dark secret. Bloodthirsty vampires, emboldened by a garlic-less spring harvest, have taken over. With almost everyone dead or captured, it’s up to Alix, along with Logan and Kade, to save Allium Valley. But Kade is also keeping secrets. Can Alix really trust him? The stakes have never been higher as Alix finds herself in a deadly game of survival with the world’s fate on the line.

I loved everything about this YA thriller! I’ve never been to a music festival, and I really wished that I was there with Alix and her friends, and of course, the gorgeous Kade! While I did guess a few things early on in the story, I still loved where it took me. I loved how it was broken into 3 parts. It really made the story flow in a fun way. I absolutely loathed Alix in the beginning, but really grew to love her character and the way she changed by the end of the story. I was a bit sad about the end but maybe we’ll see more of their characters in another book! One can hope!

3.75 stars because it was super fast paced, entertaining, and because I love vampires, but lowered from 4 because there were a few things that didn’t have me completely in love. It felt a little young for me, and I just wanted more!
Coachella meets vampires in this YA thriller. I loved the idea of this story, but seriously could not stand the main character at first. She ends up redeeming herself, but good golly I did not like her. Typical mean girl fashionista who thinks she is better than everyone. I was not expecting one twist, but the other was pretty obvious from the start. The obvious one didn’t bother me though! I loved it. The end came too soon for me and leaves you at somewhat of a cliffhanger. Hoping there is another book from Kade’s POV so I get the answers I so desperately want!

A fun, fast paced twist on the everyday vampire story. This really was Coachella meets Vampire Diaries but I also got true blood vibes. You want to scream at the FMC Alex, when she ignores all warnings to leave town, so when vampires begin to take over she has no one to blame for being stuck there but herself. The town has been experiencing a drought that has killed their garlic crops that used to protect them from the vampires. Trigger warnings for blood, gore, and some animal abuse.

I really enjoyed reading this story and the twists that happened as she tried to escape the town.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC**

This book is a cheesy 80’s slasher flick. Same feeling. Same vibes. I am honestly shocked at how well the author translated that feeling into a book. If you’re into slashers where you’re yelling at the idiot main characters for going towards danger, this book is for you.

It had some of the cheesiest, cringiest dialogue ever, but I think that’s on purpose. Chad is an absolute chad. I wanted him to be the first dead from the second we met him.

Very predictable. Very unlikable characters (again I think on purpose?)

I was fully planning to rate this 4 stars because it did fulfill its intention of being a cheesy slasher, but at the end of the book I knocked this down to 3 stars because there were so many loose ends left.

3.5 star review -

Alix and a group of her friends head to a musical festival when the town is taken over by vampires. This book definitely had The Lost Boys vibes to it which I loved and it wasn’t typical vampire / vampire behavior which was different but I enjoyed that aspect of it.

Now I will say in the beginning I did not like the main character Alix, she was full of herself and quite snobby to me. But as the story went on she got better thankfully.

I did enjoy the book but it didn’t blow my mind. It was a fast paced, one POV and some parts you kinda saw coming but it was definitely worth the read.

Thank you NetGalley and Rektok Ross for a copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest review.
