What an atmospheric triumphant. A delightful horror fest that made the 16 year old in me smile like a maniac. Present day middle aged me loved this book too. The vampires were eerily beautiful and menacing. The FMC was a believable teenager caught in a massacre. All around fantastic time. Ross should be really proud of the world building. Its thrilling details hit all the high points, so much so, I want more.
Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op | Ic13 Books, and NetGalley for providing an eARC for a honest review.
A vampire thriller, a pet name sniper for the main female, and it even has a playlist, don't walk run!
I enjoyed this book so much. The language used was modern, descriptive, and easy to read. The characters were easy to relate to and gave off a thriller vampire diaries vibe.
This book was perfect and I raced through it in record time after falling in love with the characters.
It has been a hot minute since i read something with vampires … by that i meant, when twilight was released.
So when I got the chance to read this book, I was like OK why not?
The concept material is good just in time really for Coachella. Quick blur it is about a group of friends who decided to grow for a music festival, but things went out when the place where they went to is full of vampires. There are scenes in the box that reminds me of Texas chainsaw massacre and the movie hide and seek.
I know Campiness is maybe taking the wrong way by many but for this book it really worked well.
The character development was actually good because I thought the female character is going to get on my nerves from the beginning till the end but she didn’t. There are plot twist. I wasn’t expecting. I am the dialogues of each character was fairly believable.
This book wasn't kidding when it said it was "Coachella meets "The Vampire Diaries" but I also got "The Lost Boys" vibes as well. Seriously, I completely enjoyed sinking my teeth into this book. Rektok Ross wowed me with Summer Rental and I was excited to read Spring Harvest. I found it to be gripping, addictive, thrilling and hard to put down. In short, this book was bloody good!
Alix Summerlin and her friends are ready for a weekend of fun, partying, music, and fashion! It's a chance to hang out with friends, kick back, dance and leave their troubles behind. Sure, they had been warned by Kade, a handsome local to leave town, but they choose to ignore the warnings of the mysterious brooding local guy. Have they never watched a horror film????? When a local warns you to leave, get out of there, go, immediately, save yourself, do not pass go, do not look back, just get out!!!!! Oops! They didn't listen. How fitting for a group of vampires to prey on those attending the Garlic Groove Music Festival! How lucky for the vampires (not so lucky for the concert goers) that the garlic is sparse this year in Allium Valley.
This was a fun, addictive, and entertaining tale of survival. Who will survive? Who can be trusted? Oh baby, this was a fun one. I was a teenager when "The Lost Boys" came out and have probably watched that movie 30+ times and I was a fan of "The Vampire Diaries" so this book hit the sweet spot for me!
This book had just enough danger, tension, angst, and thrills for me. There is some gore, some blood (of course), and horrific moments to tantalize this vampire lover. There is a reveal which I saw coming but who cares, this book was fabulous!
I enjoyed the characters, the setting, the writing, the vivid descriptions, the pacing, and the plot! All were well done and kept me turning the pages in this bloody good page turner! This played out like a movie in my mind.
This is my second book by Rektok Ross and I'm a fan! I look forward to reading more of this author's books in the future!
Gripping, thrilling, fun, entertaining, and horrific!
Thank you NetGalley, Ic13 Books and Rektok Ross for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed and devoured this book! I could not put it down and absolutely loved every second of it. Even though it is technically a YA Thriller, this kept me on the edge of my seat and had me a little spooked at times! My only "complaint" and it really isn't a complaint, was the ending. I wish there had been a little more of a resolve or finality to it vs how it ends, but it doesn't change my overall opinion of this book. Solid 4.5 star read for me but rounding up to 5!
This book had me addicted from the start! It was so intense that I could not wait to see the twist. Authot knows how to deliver the breath taking, draw dropping twist that we all know and love and never expect the ending. I believe this book is her best one yet but I say that everytime I read one of her books. Thank you for allowing me to read your book in advance.
I definitely did not think I would enjoy this book as much as I did but the fast pace made it easy to read overall.
“The place looks like some harbinger of evil straight out of a bad horror movie ”
Here are reasons to read the Horror book:
Music Festival - Alix and her friends are going to the Garlic Groove Music Festival
Garlic - everywhere they look there is Garlic everywhere, but they are sad because the famous garlic fries are sold out
Vampires - During one of the concerts, the crowd descends into chaos, and the truth is, it could be Vampires
I have read 2 other books by this author, and I thought this would be the perfect summer read. It was also the beginning of a trend of vampire books I would read this month. While it was a quick read and a fun topic, I had a few issues. First, the main character was so mean, shallow, and vapid, I just could not get behind her and root for her to succeed. Second, I wanted a lot more of the music festival itself to really build to the creepiness of what happens. This would also give us a better way of getting to know the characters better, and feel more deeply for them if or when things happened to them. This is not my favorite book by this author but it might be a campy little summer read for you!
This was such an interesting take on a vampire thriller. It was like a mash up between Fyre Festival, The Walking Dead, and Twilight. A super quick read with a lot of action, betrayal, and a little romance. There was some comedy mixed with mystery. I was not a big fan of Alix because she was your typical sorority girl who is very vain. Although she did have a bit of a come back as the ending got closer. I did really like Kade and Frog was a nice comedic relief. Logan and Zoe were great as well. This was definitely a young adult type thriller but was very enjoyable plus it has vampires so we love that.
This was one wild ride of insanity and that I devoured! The story was so captivating and I just had to see what was going to happen next. Alix was a complex character that went through some pretty major changes in the short span of this story and I was here for it. Such a fun and unique book that I really enjoyed.

I WAS SO EXCITED TO READ THIS! I love anything that involves vamps and I am obsessed with Rektok Ross’s other books, Summer Rental & Ski Weekend. So SUPER thanks to the author for providing an eARC. I literally cried when I got the email 😂
I loved how fast paced this was. A group of friends go to a small town for a music festival and are terrorized by vampires. I was hooked immediately, despite the main character, Alix, being almost always insufferable and absolutely full of herself. (If I hadn’t read Summer Rental already that probably would’ve been a huge turn off but this author writes some MEAN mean girls!)
This was action packed, did not drag at all, and kept me hooked and entertained the whole way thru. I’m PRAYING there will be a sequel because I did have quite a few questions by the end and would love to see more! (Preferably in Kade’s POV 😜) it also ended on a good cliff hanger. I just need more.
I thought the twist was super obvious the entire time, but it did have some good build up. But also, in a book about vampires, I feel like if the twist hadn’t been what it was, it would have been super disappointing!
Overall, this supernatural thriller was really good and I do highly recommend it, along with Rektok Ross’s other books! I really hope she’s gonna write a second book!
This is for the quick read girls, gays and theys. This is such a quirky, fun fast paced read. I was hooked from song 1! There was a twist I fully wasn't anticipating and I love that. Like vamps and I'd even say walking dead type stuff? This is for you!
This was such a fun and fast paced read. I couldn’t put it down! I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next. It gave 30 days of night if it took place at Coachella. Which sounds like a weird combo but actually works great. I love Rektoks writing style and her flawed characters. This was a true journey sequence and while the pacing was a little slower than I wanted, it was so detailed and well thought out. I really enjoyed the story.
3.75⭐️! This was a fast paced and easy to read YA thriller! A music festival and vampires? Yes please! As soon as I saw the summary, I knew I needed to request this ARC. It had similar vibes to This delicious death, which I read last month but with vampires instead of zombies.
I liked this, but didn’t love! I liked that I flew through this book, it was definitely entertaining and an easy read. I like this authors writing style for sure. I was hooked on the plot from the beginning, and was on the edge of my seat at moments.
But I did have some issues with it. First of all, the main character, Alix is insufferable at first 😅 the most mean girl and full of herself person I’ve ever read. I almost didn’t think I could keep reading about her it was so bad lol. She did redeem herself at the end but man, I hated her at first. The main plot twist towards the end was 100% obvious, so I wasn’t shocked, but I did like it. I think I just had a lot of unanswered questions in this book too, and the ending almost left on a cliffhanger. Will there be another book??
Overall this was fun, I love anything with vampires!! I’m excited to read Summer Rental, which I own already!
Spring Harvest focuses on Alix Summerlin, a newly-single, popular fashion student, on her way to the Garlic Groove Music Festival. Accompanied by her sorority sisters Zoe and Jenny, and two frat boys - Zoe's current squeeze Chad, and Alix's ex-boyfriend Logan - she's hoping any awkwardness will evaporate and they can enjoy a weekend of partying. However, they quickly discover that Allium Festival's famous annual harvest has failed, and the usual abundance of garlic in the town isn't there this year. Experienced horror fans just may be able to guess what threat is coming next..
This is a book with some real bite, and it certainly doesn't pull it's punches. Must like with her previous novel Summer Rental, Ross isn't afraid to throw in twists, turns and revelations, and not every character is destined to get out in one piece. Through the fast-paced action scenes or the slower, more contemplative sections, Alix is a character I found myself enjoying spending time with. Seemingly an almost caricature of a shallow Mean Girl-type, you quickly see that she's dealing with a lot of unresolved trauma, and pushes people away to protect herself. I thought she ended up showing real growth through the book, and it's very easy to root for her.
With supernatural elements, a romance plotline and authentic feeling college-aged protagonists, this feels like a novel that would be an ideal bridge for someone looking to progress from YA to more adult books. There's moments of gore and violence, but nothing that feels too full on, and a lot of the story could be classified as a thriller or suspense than outright horror.
A fast-paced and fun read, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone interested in the synopsis, or any fans of Ross's previous work. It gives the vibe of season one Buffy visiting a small-scale Coachella, and that alone will probably let you know if this is the book for you.
Tagged as "Coachella meets The Vampire Diaries " this thrilling vampire story does not disappoint!
Alix and her friends are traveling to the Garlic Groove Music. Festival with partying on their minds. What starts as a fun roadtrip becomes an absolute nightmare as the festival is overrun by evil. Ross created a fairly hilarious character in Alix - I can almost picture her TikToks and her new reality show! She and her friends are sort of the people you love to hate, but also love to watch.
This was a fun story and I loved all the tie ins. I will never look at a festival, or garlic in the same way! #victoryediting #rektokross #springharvest
Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for this ARC! I loved this author’s last book and I enjoyed this one as well.! It’s based on a bunch of friends who go to a garlic festival to listen to music,,go on rides and have fun. Things don’t go as planned and people start dying and no one knows what these monsters are.. The main character Alix is a strong, female who never gives up, no matter what happens to her or her friends. I really enjoyed this book. It had horror, bits of romance and a message of never giving up and to fight for yourself and for others! It also had a message about having compassion for animals as well. Fantastic book would highly recommend and I will definitely be reading more from this author. Thank you.!!
