In "The Next Mrs. Parrish” Liv Constantine delivers a follow-up to the thrilling "The Last Mrs. Parrish”. While the first book captivated me with its suspenseful twists and turns, this sequel fell short of expectations.
The storyline felt excessively convoluted, with the introduction of Daisy Ann adding a layer that detracted from the overall plot. I found myself rushing through those parts, eager to return to the main narrative.
What made the original so compelling was the complexity and depth of the characters. Unfortunately, in this installment, none of them seemed redeemable or relatable; instead, they came across as one-dimensional sociopaths.
Thanks to NetGalley for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
Overall, "The Next Mrs. Parrish" lacked the charm and intrigue of its predecessor. Perhaps the first book should have remained a standalone, leaving readers with the satisfying conclusion they initially experienced. (2/5 stars)
Again another amazing read from this author, When I received this ARC I was so excited and couldn't wait to start and get back into the characters lives again, amazing amazing amazing, highly recommend to everyone
Wow I loved this! I read the first book in the series many years ago and wasn’t sure if I would remember enough to understand this follow up, thankfully it all came together, easily, quickly! The main characters were all connected and each one had their own agendas, each chapter focused on one of the characters and I literally couldn't wait to see who/ what was coming next! 5 star read
Jackson Parrish's wives have come to know him well, so there is considerable skipticism about his claims to be a changed man after his custodial term. But after some unexpected developments, do Daphne and Amber - respectively the previous and current Mrs Parrish - have any choice but to give him a second chance?
Not to mention the fact that Amber has put in a lot of hard graft to go from being a nonentity in their wealthy community to a person with some social clout, which she doesn't want to lose.
Daphne meanwhile, is dealing with a daughter desperate to see her father, so must find a way to handle the unwelcome re-entry of Jackson in her life.
Constantine delivers another suspenseful and entertaining story here. Fans of the previous book are likely to enjoy this sequel, which comes with plenty of action and more than one unanticipated twist. It gets 3.5 stars.
I was beyond excited to recieve the second book to read. The 1st one kept me on the edge of my seat, and part 2 definitely did the same. The way this author writes the twists is brilliant. I dont want to say to much but you will never guess what's instore for you.
I was a huge fan of the Last mrs parrish, so when this came up, I knew I had to read it!
It was very satisfying to see the ending, but my god, Daphne really is stupid sometimes and does not use her head. A lot of what happened could have easily been prevented, had she listened to the adults around her
Overall, it was still highly enjoyable and fun to read
I was so excited to hear that I had been lucky enough to receive a proof of this sequel … and it did not disappoint. The characters from the previous book provided lots of twists and turns that the reader does not see coming . Daphne, Amber and Jackson along with some new characters and the clever writing definitely kept pages turning to make this a great sequel a 5* read !!
The perfect follow on from The Last Mrs Parrish which was a gripping and very clever thriller!
A master manipulator about to be released from prison, an ex wife and the current one! Is Mr Parrish a changed man? A discovery of diamonds and a spawned daughter from the past. One of them is planning to run! A chance encounter that comes back to haunt one of them! Dirty game playing and a fight to survive!
The Next Parrish is just as jaw dropping as the first.
Perfect for those who enjoy:
- The Last Mrs Parrish
- Vendetta / revenge fiction
- Domestic thrillers with devious husbands
- Escape plans
- Satisfying endings
- Freida McFadden’s the housemaid series
With massive thanks to Quercus Books and NetGalley for an ARC copy in return for an honest review.
