I always love a KMod book. Hooked me so fast, loved all the twists and turns. My only complaint is how fast it went by!
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator(s) were fantastic.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my advance copy of this audiobook

SYNOPSIS -- Everyone says to never trust a stranger, but stranded in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road during a snowstorm? Well, Tibby has no choice but to trust Walker, the first person who comes along and seems hell bent on helping her. While trying to get themselves to safety and beat the storm, Tibby and Walker make a number of mysterious and gruesome discoveries, leaving them nearly stranded with nowhere to turn but other strangers.
This one was just okay. I love KMod's chaotic, fast-paced and dark writing style. I couldn't stop listening to this once I started, that's for sure! As always, there were tons of twists and shocks around every corner, but these just felt a little lack luster compared to her usual. I wasn't super connected to the characters the way I would have liked to be, but I still felt eager for them to get away safely. Overall, this was a quick listen and definitely suspenseful, just not my favorite KMod!

The Stranger was a great read by Kiersten Modglin. Tibby and Walker know they shouldn’t trust strangers but find that they must do this while trapped in the middle of nowhere during a snowstorm. The roads are shutting down and the cell towers are out. They decide to travel together . They must take an unexpected detour and stay at a roadside motel. In the motel they find a mysterious owner, strange fellow guests and a new report of a missing couple. They then make a disturbing discovery in their motel room. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

This was a very quick listen that I started and finished in one sitting. It definitely kept me interested and entertained!

Ummmm, not sure what I think about this one. KMod always makes me feel that way about her books, to be honest.
First, I will say that I couldn't listen to it fast enough. So I was hooked and wanted to know what was going on. The audio experience though was...unique. The killers voice was A CHOICE. I get why the killers voice was disguised, but I think maybe reading this one with my eyeballs would have been more enjoyable. The voice was really distracting to me and pulled me out of the book. Like I wanted to skip those sections, but didn't want to miss anything. I felt like the love-interest subplot was rushed and sort of weird. The reveal sort of felt like it came from left-field too.
I'll probably keep listening to her audiobooks because they are quick listens that hold my attention, but I'm usually let down by the end. Therefore I never know how to rate them. So middle of the road 2.5 for me.

I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for a honest review.
Kiersten Modglin is becoming my go to for twisty stories. In this one Tibby is walking along the highway by herself in a snowstorm she is picked up by Walker and along they go. What they don't know is that there is a murderer on the loose and getting closer. Or is the murderer one of them? I enjoyed this audiobook immensely. Especially the part of the killer which you couldn't tell if it was male or female. Another hit for Kiersten,

Kmod hits it out of the park again! Her mind is amazing, twisty, and dark but she is such a sweet person - how does this work?!! I did not see that last twist coming and I love that! Kmod is on my always-read list and she never disappoints!

**please note due to low rating I will not be leaving a public review for this book as I have not paid for it.**

Story by Kiersten Modglin ⭐⭐
The premise of this book was fantastic but unfortunately for me I found the delivery to be quite dull. I think personally I would have enjoyed this more in book format so my imagination could have built the world better than it did in audio.

Another shocker from Modglin. I have, yet, to read a book by this author that doesn't keep you biting those nails in anticipation of what comes next.
What was especially exciting about this book was that I thought I had it all figured out. Well, I was wrong. That's the sign of suspenseful writing. Fitting those puzzle pieces together heightened the fun!

Netgalley ALC received.
I haven't read this author before, but the blurb for this book was really interesting. It was a quick listen that had me hooked from the first page. It was one of those books that keeps you guessing. I thought I had the 'who did it' figured out but I was wrong.
The author captured the wintery snowy atmosphere perfectly.
The whole don't trust a stranger saying comes into play here when you have no choice but to trust a stranger to help you survive.
If your after a cosy thriller then look no further.

I love books like this!! A book where you feel tingly with anticipation of what it going to happen. Suspenseful and dark with your mind going through every which way it could be. This audiobook was so good!! Narrators were perfect!! Loved the "strangers" muffled voice, too! Another KMod book under my belt!!

The author always keeps you on your toes. The characters are realistic. I listened to this book on audio and really liked that the author made the killers voice different, kind of spooky. I enjoyed the story line, it had many twists and turns, many times I thought I had it figured out but was wrong. The only thing I didn't like about the book is that the ending came fast, I was expecting more to the story. But other than that I would recommend this book, it was a decent quick read. I gave it 4 stars because I thought it ended too quickly.

Never Trust A Stranger.
Holy Moly PLOT TWIST! I did not see that coming. I thought I knew who the killer was several times…. Nope. I was wrong! So wrong!
"The Stranger" is an absolute rollercoaster of suspense and thrills that will keep you guessing until the very end. The setting—a remote motel during a snowstorm—perfectly captures the sense of isolation and danger. From the moment Tibby and Walker are stranded together, you can feel the tension building.
The characters are wonderfully complex, with each one harboring their own secrets. This creates a dynamic and unpredictable storyline, making it impossible to predict who can be trusted and who is a threat. The twists and turns are expertly crafted, leading to jaw-dropping revelations that leave you reeling.
The writing is atmospheric and immersive, plunging you into the freezing, snow-laden landscape and the eerie, shadowy corridors of the motel. The author masterfully balances the unfolding mystery with chilling horror elements, creating an adrenaline-pumping experience.
The pacing is perfect, with just the right amount of buildup and climax, keeping you on the edge of your seat without a moment of dullness. The ending is explosive and satisfying, tying together all the intricate threads.
If you're a fan of psychological thrillers and horror, "The Stranger" is a must-read. Its gripping narrative, intense atmosphere, and well-drawn characters make it a five-star book that you'll struggle to put down. Prepare for a sleepless night—this one will haunt you long after you've turned the final page.

A quick and captivating read!
I was so sure that I had the entire story figured out, but as it turns out, I was wrong. Modglin once again threw me for a loop. It was a great read. I highly recommend checking out this novel if you're looking for a thrilling and page-turning experience.
*One minor complaint - One of the POVs in the audiobook had a low-quality distorted voice, which could hinder some readers' enjoyment.*
***Thank you to NetGalley, Kiersten Modglin, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

How does Kiersten Modglin continually write so many well-crafted thrillers? This author is truly a machine. I read a lot and I can barely keep up with her new publications.
In Modglin's latest novel, we meet a number of people with questionable motivations during a terrible snowstorm that leaves opportunities for bad behavior at every corner. We don't know who to trust, only that awful things are happening, and the claustrophobia mounts. Toward the end, a few too many coincidences need to happen in order for the big reveal to make sense, but I was still champing at the bit for some resolution, so I embraced it all.
If you are a fan of twisty whodunits, I think you'll find The Stranger a short and satisfying read.

I loved this audiobook! This one has multiple POVs and each narrator did a fantastic job. One of the characters had a creepy voice and it was a perfect adddition. I loved the writing because I felt like I was there in the snow, cold and nervous. I thought I had it all figured out but the twist was suprising. There were also no slow parts of the story, the pacing was great. If you like fast paced, with a creepy setting, unreliable characters and twists you will not guess, I highly recommend this one (especially the audiobook).

When Tibby is walking on the side of the road during a snow storm, Walker stops and asks if she needs a ride to her destination. With lack of cell service, road closures and impossible driving conditions, they stop at a motel and must stay the night together until the storm passes. When they get to the motel, they encounter even more strangers with secrets.
I love Kiersten Modglin’s writing style and creative mind. She always has stories that keep me interested in what is going to happen next.
While this one was not my favorite of her’s, it was still enjoyable with a twist I did not guess, but sadly think that ending was not satisfying and left me with questions. I was not super attached to the characters as this was a very short read and that limited character development.
I did really enjoy the narration of this one, with 3 POVS, one being distorted so you could not tell who was speaking, which was a great element!
Thank you Dreamscape media and netgalley for the ARC audiobook! You can listen or read this one now as it was published on April 16th!

I have enjoyed a few of this author's previous books on Netgalley so I requested this one hoping for another favorite. Unfortunately this one was more of a miss. It was fine but I found it a little boring and wasn't attached to the lobby.
I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

This was my first book by Kiersten Modglin. I love a good fast paced thriller, especially ones with the serial killer and the cat and mouse vibes. Unfortunately, this book was a miss for me. While the premise was great—that was what attracted me to the book—the overall delivery fell flat for me. The story kicks off with Tibby who is stranded on the road during the blizzard. She's freezing and desperately looking for shelter. She reluctantly accepts Walker's offer to give her a ride to the next town. The story is told in multiple POV's from Tibby's, Walker's, and a third POV, from the killer. The audiobook has done well in this part, keeping the voice of the character neutral. The author did a good job with the red herrings and making each character look suspicious and with secrets of their own.
The pacing is slow to start and stays the same up until the midway and then everything wraps up too quickly. There's no character development of any sort, and there's an insta love that is impossible to get behind. The final reveal was not enough to put these flaws behind.
The audiobook narration was done well. The neutral voice of the killer right up until the reveal was excellent. Overall, it was a quick, easy book, but was just not for me.
