The Stranger is a quick, creepy novella by Kiersten Modglin. Like all KMod books, there are surprising twists at the end.
Tibby is a virtually unknown young female picked up by Walker in his car in the middle of a blizzard. The two forge an uneasy alliance while they search for shelter in the middle of the night in a snowstorm that shows no signs of stopping. When they stop at a motel, the two both think that they have found respite. Before long, they unfortunately find out that someone has died and they have no choice but to continue their journey.
I love a scary snow story and you will too! Join in to find out what happens next.
As always, Dreamscape Media does a fantastic job setting the scene. The narrators are Saskia Maarleveld, Traci Odom and John Pirhalla. Pirhella is especially creepy in tone, which I am sure is on purpose. #dreamscapemedia #kmod #kierstemodglin #thestranger

This is my favorite book by Kiersten Modglin so far. I feel like I always like her books and they just fall a little short of me saying I love it, not this time. I loved The Stranger.
This book is told from three points of view. In the present time, you have Tibby and Walker, and then there is “before” that is from the killer's point of view.
During a bad snowstorm Walker is driving and sees Tibby walking. He can see Tibby is not equipped to be walking in this snow storm and he tries his best to help her. Tibby is mysterious and is hard to trust as the reader. Walker. Was too nice and also came off as hard to trust for me and I loved that.
The storm takes away all forms of communications and with roads being inaccessible they find themselves at a motel. The whole book has a tense feeling to it but when we get to the motel it amplifies.
With every chapter from the killer's point of view you get little bits of information that point you to think it is certain characters and when it finally comes to a head I didn’t see it coming the way it played out.
This is a super fast read that I could not recommend more.

The Stranger by Kiersten Modglin
(Narrated by Saskia Maarleveld; Traci Odom; John Pirhalla)
Fast-paced and short thriller.
The extreme weather made Tibby had no choice. She had to travel with a nice enough stranger called Walker, but Tibby didn’t trust any strangers. Without a choice, the storm kept them in the same motel, and they found someone was murdered there….
The narrator presented the characters extraordinarily well. The speaking speed they used had created the perfect creepy and exciting vibe. The story setting even was a trapped place, still I could not guess how it would be ended. The author never disappoints the readers who love thriller - always surprising and twisty!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and the author for my copy.

Story: 3.25⭐️
Audio: 4⭐️
This was a quick paced and short thriller. The entire vibe of the story was quite eerie. I wasn’t sure the direction the story would go and it kept me guessing until the end. I kept changing my mind on what I thought was going to happen. I wasn’t right on any of it either.
I do wish it had been a bit longer though. While I enjoyed it for the most part, I was left wanting more.
I thought the audio performances by Saskia Maarleveld, Traci Odom and John Pirhalla were great. The entire production was quite fantastic. It really made the story come to life. Creeped me out a bit of I’m being honest! 🤣
Thank you Dreamscape Mesia and NetGalley for the ALC.

I've listened to a few KMod thrillers, and this was my favorite yet. The narration was done by multiple voices, which was great. Tibby is picked up on the side of the road during a snowstorm by a complete stranger. As the storm intensifies, they need to trust each other more and more. As the situation spirals more and more out of control, this becomes harder to do. There's a murderer out here somewhere, and it could be either of them.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for the book #TheStranger by #KierstenModglin. I loved this book with all its scary happenings. This terrifying story of two strangers who are traveling in the same direction during a snowstorm and have to stop at motel. They discover some horrible things and have to trust a stranger to get them away from the danger . But has the danger followed them?

Tibby doesn’t trust anyone but herself. She meets a stranger, and, due to weather, she ends up traveling with him. She never lets her guard down. She just wants to make it to her friend’s place safe and sound, but someone has different plans for them. The narrators were great, especially the voice of Tibby! I could sense her fear and cynicism as she navigated her options. They kept the story smooth and easy to listen to. Their cadence was even making it good for readers that like a faster reading speed. I love KMod and have read/listened to many of her novels. This one was not my favorite. I liked the story and the characters. I had high hopes for it. But the ending left me deflated and disappointed. The story was great and kept me wanting to listen and try to figure out what was happening, but then it ended and I asked myself “What?! That’s it?!” I listened to the last few chapters three times to make sure I didn’t miss something. I am still a KMod a fan and will read more! This one just fell flat for me.

Wow, what a chilling and wild ride! I loved the banter between Tibby and Walker and I really enjoyed how the twist unraveled.

Thank you Netgalley, Kiersten Modglin and Dreamscape media of the audio Arc of The Stranger.
This is a fast paced thriller from 4 POV, 3 mainly and one near the end. The narrative sets off with a young women who's walking near the highway in the freezing, snowy weather and is presuaded into hitching a lift with a stranger. The main POV is from these two to begin with and it's clear that both are wary ( wouldn't you be? ) The 3rd POV is from a murderer and this is where things get interesting. As the tension mounts, the weather gets worse, these 2 people have to stick together to weather the night. Is one of them a murderer?
I love the twists and turns that Kiersten writes within her narrative. It jostles you into different directions and the pay offs are great. The end has a wow, I didn't see that coming factor. This is the second book I've listened to and ill be checking the rest of her books out too.
The Stranger was narrated by Saskia Maarleveld; Traci Odom; John Pirhalla. All 3 did a superb job in narrating and Ive heard Saskia's voice on a few audios before..
4.5 rounded to 5 for Netgalley

Thank you so much @netgalley and @kierstenmodglin for my gifted advanced listeners copy of this amazing audiobook!
I LOVED this very suspenseful, murderous thriller! It was such a very short read and the narrators were all great!
I was waiting and waiting for the twist and when it finally came I was seriously surprised! Thought the killer was someone completely different than who it really was! LOVED it!

Another fab, quick novel by the Queen of thrills. I loved listening to The Stranger and was on high alert throughout, waiting for the twists our favourite author is known for. KMod did not disappoint as I found myself being pulled in different directions on who to trust. With so much action packed into this book, I found myself listening to it in one sitting - it was just too hard to put down!

Tibby is walking along the highway all alone when a kind stranger Walker offers her a ride. She doesn't want to take the gesture of help because, well, she's a woman. And just because he's nice now doesn't mean he'll always be. An oncoming blizzard forces her hand and a road closure has these two in close proximity. But there's a killer on the loose. One man is dead and now two teenagers have gone missing. It doesn't take long for more bodies to start to pile up. Can Walker really be trusted? Can Tibby?
This story has an interesting premise, and so I really wanted to like it. If you're a woman this story might sound a bit familiar. Is this guy REALLY a nice person? However, I don't think this story was for me (even tho I am a woman). I didn't particularly like Tibby, and Walker, okay dude, you've been with Tibby a few hours and now you can't imagine life without her. Icky. So if both of these characters aren't great who am I supposed to root for? The kindly hotel owner who doesn't have a single vending machine on property but offers cereal for breakfast? And correct me if I'm wrong but aren't mysteries supposed to reveal a killer we know?
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ALC. Saskia Maarleveld, Traci Odom, and John Pirhalla were fine narrators, but this book just was not for me unfortunately, but it's a quick read, so at least there's that.

A fun, twisted story that translates well in to audio. I really enjoyed the two narrators and what they brought to the book. The narration was smooth and the chapters flowed well from one to the next. This story is definitely more suspenseful in audio form!
When do we start to trust strangers? What makes us trust someone? These thoughts are embedded in this book through the main characters, Tibby and Walker. Walker picks up Tibby on the die of the road during a storm. The next day is them trying to trust each other and trying to get away from a murderer.
If you want a thriller you can read in a day, this is it. The pages turn fast and the setting of the book is perfect for those creepy vibes.
Thank you @netgalley and @dreamscape media for a copy of this book. All my reviews are my own.

The audiobook was amazing!! Three narrators in one book, let’s go! That was a phenomenal listen thanks to the narrators’ performances, I really enjoyed it because of them. One of the narrator’s was super creepy, they scared me every time it was their chapter. Now, the story itself was a bit anticlimactic. There was no jaw-dropping twist and felt a bit rushed. If I was reading a ebook or physical copy I probably wouldn’t have finished it, and that would be very rare for me to do. I’ve read my fair share of stranded stranger novels to know there needs to be a major “oh my gosh” moment and this book lacked that. I gave it three stars because the narrators were fantastic, highly recommend listening to the audiobook.

This book is difficult to review without spoiling but I’ll do my best!
The pacing of this book is perfect. It’s a nice quick story with an interesting plot and tons of suspense. I was completely hooked the entire time.
However, I didn’t really enjoy the plot twist. I had an idea of what was going on in the story, and I was completely wrong which I appreciate since the author did a great job throwing me off the trail but I was disappointed that I was wrong! I would have liked the story better had my conjecture been correct.
Long story short, Walker gives me the ick. And I don’t think he’s supposed to.
The narrators did a great job but the female narrator was made her voice purposely gravely and it was a little irritating.
Overall, I liked this story!
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Dreamscape media for the advance copy!

The audio of this really upped the creep factor.
Two strangers stranded. Together. With a killer out there. But who is the killer?
A quick listen (I had audio) and just what you'd expect from KMod.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

. The voice for the bad guy scared me and gave me the creeps immediately. Super audio mixing there.
The reveal was a surprise to me but the ending felt a little sudden. I’ve recently discovered this author and have enjoyed most of the books I’ve read. Very reliable thrillers that aren’t too predictable
Thanks netgalley for my ALC

Tibby and Walker, two strangers seeking shelter from a snowstorm, find themselves at a mysterious motel. But as they uncover secrets, including a murder, they realize that leaving may not have been the best choice.
This was a quick read with an abrupt ending that left me with more questions than answers. While I am a fan of this author's other work, this particular book did not become a favorite of mine.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the free audio copy of the book.

Great book! Quick read! Full of suspense! I enjoyed the different narrators telling the story. Talk about stranger danger!!!
